I effectively spent a chunk of my childhood in America with relatives. I treasured these memories, but now all the feelings of wonder and happiness when thinking of my visits to America have faded. Now I just think of how selfish it was to sabotage Canada. American private equities want to rock our system and buy up all they can and so I am happy we are watching for this. I think Donald did this to try and buy up Canadian companies. This should be made illegal. I am willing to suffer for up to pull the plug on all resources and energy going to America “suddenly” do they have no time to adapt and collectively suffer. As a European I stand with Canada. I lived in the Us and many Americans are wonderful. However this administration has lost its values and soul. Canada and the E.U should work together closely. And why not join the E.U? Our values are the same. Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

I couldn't agree with you more. Canada has become another one of those mindless Totalitarian states like American China, Russia, etc., etc. I spent 10 years in China working as a teacher. I went there because I was fed up in my country and when I returned it was worse than when I left. As I am now 68, if I can afford to leave again I will and I'll never return again. I told the Chinese who knew me I was returning because I missed the land, but I never really missed the people. Now that I'm back, since Jan. 2022, I want to leave again and I will and Never return. Health care in this country is in the Sh*t-house, it's impossible to get a family Dr. In part I returned for medical reasons, but now would rather die than have to deal the the Canadian medical bureaucracy - REALLY !!!
