Québec. French people. Bill 101. French Civil Code legal system. No burqas permitted. Québec City has final say on all immigration to Québec, not Ottawa.

Americans take note.
\nCanada has a small population. It is a trading nation. Canada does not pretend to other countries that it is a friend while behaving in treacherous ways. Your minions and hypocrites, Vice President James David Vance and Senator Lindsey Graham should also take note.
\nCanada and the United States have been trading with each other for over 170 years. Circumstances and proximity made Canada rely on trading with its neighbour, the USA. In 2024, 75.9% of Canada's total exports went to the United States.
\nWas it convenience or laziness that made it so, or Canadians’ trust in America being a fair partner?
\nPresident Donald J Trump, you have insulted Canadians and the whole United States will harvest the consequences.
\nYou had negotiated the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) calling USMCA the best deal, and recently you called your deal the worst deal.
\nYou can be the Manchurian Candidate as much as you want. You seek to destroy Canada. Go ahead, do your worst. Keep being manipulated by the Putin and Musk of the world.
\nThis is the last time you will use this closeness between Canada and the USA to hurt Canada this way. Does not matter how long it will take, Canada will diversify its trading practice to foolproof itself from future fools like you, elected to the oval office.
\nNeighbours, Canadians will remain, there is no way of moving Canada to a different place on this planet’s map. Canada may remain an economic partner, but a close friend, you can forget it.
\nThere is a motto on the licence plates of vehicles of Québec (in case you might not know Donald, it is a province of Canada, not part of your fantasy 51st state). Since 1978 the motto says: “Je me souviens”. In English it translates into “I remember”. Canadians will remember what America is doing to them.

I remember a few years ago, Canadians were celebrating their 150th anniversary of the founding of the country... my work colleagues were very happy, proud... and me... well, I just told them that my capital ( Québec) had just celebrated its 400th anniversary of founding... It was a moment of total cognitive dissonance, the absolute incomprehension in their faces... ''how, why, well let's see it's impossible''... I kindly told them reminded that my state existed long before Canada, that he had never signed their constitution and that one day we would be gone. Obviously everything in English, because if I speak English, they well... they know how to say ''hello''. Canadians are good people, polite, kind, values similar to the values of Québécois, but they have a vision of their history and their role in this history that is so partial, romanticized that it becomes sad, especially since they draw from it an unbearable feeling of superiority. And by digging a little, we hit the limits of politeness, kindness and companionship because if Canadians like the telling of their history, they clearly do not like being reminded that Quebec was founded 250 years before the Canada and that Québécois have not joined in joy and good humor in the great Canadian adventure and that even if we are Westerners like them, we do not share their guilt in terms of the treatment of natives and other Asian immigrants nor again their strange attachment to the British crown. As Mr. Tremblay points out so well, Québécois and Canadians are much more like neighbors in a hotel than a family and even if on the surface there are several similarities, in reality, we are total strangers.

In Québec we stick up for ourselves, call us racists, say we only speak French and you must too, we're good with that and we're not Ali Baba Land!

When Quebecer are saying the same thing to save their language and culture they are tag as racist, Lol. At least the Indians speaks and learn English not like the immigrants in Québec who don't learn French.

I think that a lot of people who seem to hate Canada in this comment section are either from Toronto and Vancouver, the two most expensive cities in the country, but these two cities don't represent Canada as a whole. \n\nPersonally I live in a smaller city in Québec (Saguenay) and life quality is super good, there are a lot of job opportunities and housing is very cheap, and it is an amazing place for outdoor lovers\n\nI saw many comments saying that the US is cheaper than Canada... Those people simply don't compare what's comparable. If you compare Toronto with comparable cities in the US like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Toronto is in fact MUCH cheaper. If I compare my city with comparable cities in the US, well it turns out that Saguenay is much cheaper\n\nSo before wanting to move to another country, you can simply think about moving within Canada. If however you hate winter, then there's no reason to stay here ?

Well I had a kid this year in Québec, it was like 250$ for a single room or 20$ for double room or something. \nYeah some hospital would sell our informations to banks and diapers or food manufacturers... still cheaper than 3000$USD\nFor student I'd say if you are citizen of canada, it's like 10 time cheaper to study here than in US as far as I've seen.\nViolence is something really sad. I'd really wish that just guns were restrain for hunting and special forces, like police officer or body gard of gouvernment selected individual accredited to hold a weapon for defence.\nI've heard that in USA police don't all have to go through police academy that teach them how be an officer. Here they have to go to school, be cadets in summer break, have your attitude checked to de-escalat violent situation if possible.\nWhen I was a in high school violence was in drop in school, so much that they withdraw the officer that was station to that school to just do some one time per year presentation of what to do for security, to absolutely nothing.

I think you missed the ball on two points.\n\n1) although Canada has a higher share of current immigrants, 99% of all americans are descended from at least one great grandparent who came from abroad before settling down. America is a nation of immigrants down into its blood, and the current state of affairs is more a reflection of abberation than the norm, even in spite of our history of the Klan and know nothing party.\n\n2) Québec sets its own immigration policy and it is WAAAAAAY stricter, like, they have a french literacy test that a parisian with a PhD in French literature failed, and when this is brought up most Quebecois say this makes sense because *the French* are doing a poor job of preserving frenchness against encroachment from foreign language and culture. Meanwhile L'Acedemie Français is the chief dead horse to beat amongst folks who want to make jokes of linguistic and cultural prescriltivism.

13:02 Tabarnak is a swear word in Québec and other French speaking regions of Canada. It's like saying Hell no!\nIt comes from Tabernacle (a small cupboard in a church to keep the holy hosts).

I appreciate international students and their contributions to our universities very much, however I would like to point out that the fact that their tuition at Canadian universities is 5 times that of Canadian domestic students' tuition is because of large tax payer subsidies towards education in this country. That is to say at least 75% of all university tuition is subsidized in taxpayer dollars. If you have not been paying taxes in this country, then it makes sense to pay the difference. The same goes for Canadian students outside of Québec who must pay more in tuition than students from Québec because their level of government subsidy for post secondary education is even greater.

How does systematic racism look? It looks like the Québec Prime Minister saying that does not exist. The question must be answered by the people who suffers it each day, not by the elite population that dominates the rest.
