Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I know from much-welcomed temp Mexican construction workers in BC (where I live) that they view Canadians completely differently from our mutual US neighbours—and now that affection is growing like never before. \n\nI’m continually amazed at how uninformed Americans are about tariffs—and misinformed by tRump and his goofy, preposterous, and ridiculous fantasy of world-domination. Let's see, make peace at reasonable cost with a man who's war with Ukraine showed the world that they cannot last in war with US on a military vs military bases; and the only option against the US is a nuclear, while Zelenskyy want's to use US as a deterrent against Putin, all while asking the US for billions. On the other hand, Canada, Mexico and Panama are being over ran by chinese businesses. People think this is against Canadians, Mexicans and Panamanians, but these tariffs are against chinese who are manufacturing in these countries and bypassing tariffs already in place by the US. The chinese are manufacturing in Canada and Mexico and placing (made in Canada/Mexico) and shipping those items to the US, while Canada and Mexico do nothing.

Imagine the Chinese or the Mexican make a speech like this, the white man privileges in full display here ?

I am from Russia and tried to get a job at a Mexican restaurant, to which they answered me that they only hire their own. After i found another and they hired me to work at a restaurant where the owner was a white man. Thanks to the Americans for hiring me. And i came legally.

don’t judge too much. And if you think you'll all be deported at once, you got another thing coming. The man might go and jump. The woman might go in July. The kids might go separately next year. If you don't believe me. I saw it with my own eyes in 2019. I was locked up in Colorado. I watched them raid construction sites hospitals. Numerous other businesses arresting hard work in Mexican people. Imagine all the nurses and workers at hospitals that are from other countries. I watched them arresting nurses. Arresting tab drivers Uber drivers. I watched them raid schools and arrest children. I watched them put these poor people in jails with real criminals. All the immigrants loved me. I was actually in a federal and ICE facility. So I literally saw all of the immigrants. I protected them from the racist white people. I'm from Tampa Florida, so I'm used to the jails and prisons being majority, black guys. But in Colorado, it's white supremace, gangs and Mexican gangs. What's even more sickening? Is people from Washington would come in and take some of the Indians out. And when they came back, I would ask them questions and they said that the government people would get information on their family back in India and see if they could pay 50k to stay in America. It was sickening. I found out that what they were doing was deporting. Poor people and the people that have money back in their country. They have their families send money and let them stay. I saw it with my own eyes.

I am Cuban. I came to the US legally in 1967. My parents left their families and everything behind in order to give my sisters and me a better life in the freedom and democracy of the US. We flew out of Cuba the day after my 7th birthday. I was young but old enough to see the look on my mother’s face and my grandmother’s face to realize that they new they were never going to see each other again. We left a land ruled by an iron fisted dictator. It was the sacrifice of a lifetime for my parents to bring us kids here and now my sisters can’t understand why I don’t want to talk to them because they have voted for a man who wants to be a dictator, who disrespects women and took away their right to control their bodies(I have a college graduate daughter….what if someday she needs an abortion to save her life because the fetus did not develop right?), a man who is clearly a racist in every sense of the word, who only projects hate and division, but does everything he can for white billionaire men. This Mexican-American woman and my sisters disgust me. My sisters have betrayed my parents and the sacrifice they made.

Man, I really do love everyone who is currently in office for our government at the moment. I just love letting any & everyone into our country, not to mention the cost of groceries & gas is amazing too! I absolutely love paying almost $7.00 just for a gallon of milk. It also just makes me think about such better times that were...... I don't know, like three fucking years ago! When the average American could afford to buy groceries & gas, and any other essential as needed. \n\nNow we will find housing for all of the people illegally entering our country, while we have more than enough Veterans sleeping on the street, & not to mention that 22 Veterans a day kill them selves on average.
