I love how racist canadians here are talking about canadian culture, like they are first peoples of Canada who speak Siouan or inuit. I’m from Canada originally, a big city on the west side, and growing up the mass migration became a huge issue. There were immigrants from Middle East establishing and taking over whole sections of the city with mosques, their food, shops. That would all be fine but the issue is the cultural mentality that was being imported. My high school was filled with young men. Some of them over 20 but attending my high school and hanging out with young girls. They would establish gangs and get into fights. There was multiple stabbings at that school. At the time I dated men from Pakistan for a while and they would throw trash on the ground out the window, have parties with young girls constantly, get into fights, street race, and just generally be belligerent.

Everything in Canada became Indian, we are all immigrants here, and I appreciate the multi culture, but I don’t appreciate Indians working in restaurants, sorry but I can’t eat from Indians hands, I know they dont have good hygiene, probably not at all.

Im an immigrant and after living for awhile in canada I noticed that Canada is not longer what it used to be, Indians hired Indians and some of them have issues either other cultures, Canada is Doomed, Im happy I left

we can tell it's all by design..look around, the mass immigration isn't just canada..it's the uk, france, germany, austrialia, new zealand, ireland, and any other 1st world country. They literally have wiped out any culture the natural citizens had, replaced by ideology. Why is it mostly military aged men?? Who leaves their family and goes to another country??? Why are all these countries paying these immigrants, asylum/refugee so much money, literally almost 4 x what a senior gets?

The elephant in the room is the fact that the majority of immigrants come from one country. As someone who proudly escaped Canada I understand the difficulties of adapting and integrating into another culture. It is difficult and it would be far easier if there were just so many Canadians here that none of us have to adapt or learn a new language but could simply live in an insular community of Canadians and transplant our own culture here. When I go back to Canada I see that that is exactly what has happened there.

As a Canada who speaks both French and English and who follows politics quite closely, I have to say that the headline and some of the reporting here is quite misleading. A reduction in immigration has broad support across Canada. I wouldn't say that notion is dividing the country in any significant way. You do have certain industry groups that disagree, but among the population these reductions have broad support. This is a historic change in public opinion in Canada, but it has been driven by the unprecedented increase in immigration under the last term of the Trudeau government. To put this in context, non-permanent residents in Canada numbered around 1.5 million on Q3 2023, but by Q3 2025, that number sat a just over 3 million. The previous government increased immigration targets by 3 or 4 times over what they had been for years, which caused a number of economic issues. Essentially, the volume was simply too high for the economy and society to support. This was unfair to both Canadians and new comers, many of which could not find employment or afford a decent place to live. The changes being suggested are largely bringing Canada back to what the targets were for over a decade before, though a bit lower to account for the sudden surge. Canada remains one of the most pro-immigration countries in the world. However, and this is where I think DW's reporting is misleading, there is a distinction to be made between policies at the federal level and policies at the provincial level. Immigration, per our constitution, is a federal matter, however, Quebec in particular is distinct from other provinces. I don't mean only culturally and linguistically, but also in the powers that have been devolved to it by the federal government. On the question of immigration, Quebec has more powers and more ability to set its immigration targets and programs than any of the other 9 provinces. The particular program discussed here, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), is a particular immigration stream that only existed in Quebec. So what is happening with that program cannot be labeled as a whole-of-Canada thing. Where the changes to the PEQ are controversial, unlike the general changes at the federal level, is that people who immigrated under that specific program were promised certain things. There was a multi-year time line to Permanent Residency and then Citizenship. Many of those people have been in Quebec for 5-8 years already. However, the changes made to the program were done in such a way where people who many years into the program, had gotten an education, started a career, had children, ect. are now being told they can't continue and must leave Canada. There are even stories of people who married Canadians, now have children, and the one parent who was under this program now faces the possibility of having to leave Canada and be separated from their family. All through no fault of their own. That is what many people see as unfair, and I agree, however limiting future applications under the program, to bring in less people, that is not controversial. Canada has no responsibility to bring in people who are not already in Canada, but Canada does have some responsibility towards people who uprooted their lives to move to Canada and built new lives here based on promises and representations made to them by the Canadian and Quebecois governments. We should no simply kick those people out of the country.

You guys been mixed from the very beginning, what does it matter to you that others want to go to America too? Why does the colour of their skin matter to you? Do you really believe that all your ancestors who came to America from different countries didn’t bring their culture with them? And don’t you think that all these different cultures shaped America into what it is today? I am not American, and I would never leave my country for America. As an outsider, it feels strange to watch Americans portray other people—who want to immigrate to the country just like your own ancestors did—as inferior. In my eyes, you are exactly the same, no one is better than the other. It surprises me that a country like America shows hostility toward others who, just like them, are immigrants. And then you go to a other country with that very same mindset. No matter if Canada or America, remember that your not a native, so why judge people so hard, for trying to do the same thing like you did. You are not a native either.

Mass immigration is a horrible thing. It ruins culture and countries. Failed countries need to be held accountable for their failures. Their homelands need to take care of their people. Too many people come to the US and probably Canada definitely the UK. They get there and then expect the country to conform to them and their culture and that’s not right. People that move to different countries need to conform to that country and shouldn’t be allowed to be a citizen if they can’t speak, read and write that countries language proficiently.

My parents immigrated in the early 90s and I was born in Canada. It’s very hard to relate to the new immigrants in the last 10 years because we’re so different. The families that immigrated in the 80s and 90s had to assimilate and become “Canadian” which in hindsight was for the best. I learned about my culture and language at home, but my parents, emphasized the importance of being “Canadian first” and being a part of society and “fitting in.” This wasn’t at all a bad thing. I learned to ski, skate, make ice lollies with snow and syrup, went camping, played sports… I feel embarrassed when Indians are looked at in this light, but its true. 90% of this new wave of immigrants on “student visas,” dont intend to actually obtain any sort of an education, instead they use it as a pathway for permanent residency. I know this because I have relatives who say this out loud behind closed doors. I don’t agree with any of it, and quite frankly it’s very embarrassing, but most of us first generation Indian Canadians feel very upset about how its all played out and the negative light in which our people are now viewed under. Personally, I agree they arent interested in becoming culturally Canadian, they just want to be in Canada for financial reasons. They stay in their groups, dont integrate and think somehow this will play out well. It isnt discrimination when your own people also feel this way. I have yet to meet a first gen Canadian who disagrees

Its just the uneducated Indians and immigrants who come to Canada that are messing things up, my parents immigrated to Canada from Pakistan, both my parents are from well educated families. When they came to Canada my dad got a job as a engineer and my moms a house wife, they are well assimilated to the culture of Canada and speak good English, they still practice there religion but don't force it down peoples throats. These are the types of immigrants that Canada needs not uneducated rats who don't know how to respect the people and country that welcomed them in the first place.

Canada doesn't have a culture to assimilate to anymore though. It was known for its casual hockey and Canadian accent but both are nearly extinct. It's The Library of Babel up in here. Not to mention most white people only have 1 kid or don't want kids at all so it's entire re-population plan is just to go all in on immigration and let white people slowly fade out until there's none left. As a Canadian who lives in an area with high immigration levels, this is not the sentiment of the majority. I work alongside many people who were trained abroad from a variety of cultures and my experience has been great. Immigration has brought a lot of positives to Canada. And at some point, majority of us or our families immigrated here. There’s a lot more to the story than these random conversational clips. I am not condoning smuggling, that should never happen. But in every people group you’ll find illegal activity, that doesn’t mean that’s how they all operate.

Immigration is obviously a mess, but a big problem like in the U.S is that the immigrants are the only one who do the dirty work or hard jobs that require actual physical work. The white folk or the citizens born and raised do not want to touch these kind of jobs. But overall canada especially the toronto and surrounding areas has taken a turn for the worse in the past 10-15 years. When I left Canada in 1995 there was a HUGE Pakistani population. The west is the west and we can't keep accepting more and more immigrants that don't assimilate. It's not hard to assimilate y'all. The USA does have a culture despite what other cultures say.

canada is getting very close to having more than half of their newborns be first-generation immigrants from india. in a couple short generations, it will be impossible for canadians to win any sort of election, vote, nomination, poll, etc etc. these people and their beliefs do not work in western society. they want to overrun the population (with religion as an excuse) so they can take control and begin dismantling western culture. soon all of canadas laws and protections will defend the invasions and open their boarders wide open. western society and it's values are in grave danger. they're going to use our system against us. its happening right in front of your eyes. time to wake up. these people aren't coming to canada and the states in search of a better life or the american dream. they do not want to assimilate and they refuse our values. they are here because they want their own country, and they're very close to having it. these people were chanting DEATH TO THE WEST, DEATH TO AMERICA the day they flew over.

It’s a problem here in Canada. They aren’t heading to the USA basically all of them stay cause it’s just easy. Nobody would have a problem if they made an effort to assimilate and some do but the ones who don’t ruin the image for the rest of them. Other obvious problem is we’ve let in too many people in in general like more people have come than living units have been built making many problems just right there and then and it’s not really the people who immigrates fault it’s the government. I know restricting imagination and making the test to get in harder so they actually have to know something about Canadas history and our culture and realistically we need to apply more pressure on the expectation that immigrants eventually assimilate.

I’m from a rural northern Alberta town with a population of less than 3000 people and the Indian demographic has probably doubled our population. The immigration of primarily Indian “temporary” immigrants is not isolated to western Canada or to large cities. Most are here on student visas but are also somehow business owners / owner operators and have since invited large families to relocate here. It has complete changed the culture of the town. Also, Alberta has one major highway from north to south and the amount of semi truck crashes along our highway and dangerous goods routes have probably quadrupled. :(

Worst thing that ever happened to Canada. I can't even begin to describe how my community has changed. I don't even recognize it anymore. Spent my entire life in a small town and for some unknown reason it is part of a "designated resettlement zone." There are more Indians than whites - it's insane. Local businesses have closed, new businesses catering to Indians have opened. Littering is rampant. Homes aren't taken care of. It's a tragedy. 70% of Canadians don't want these levels of immigration - hell, even *immigrants* don't want more immigrants. Justin Trudeau, his Liberal government, and the traitors over at the Century Initiative are 100% responsible for this irrevocable destruction of Canadian culture.

Canada has lost itself allowing all this mass immigration to happen. I can assure you that there are millions of expired visas and fraudulent visas that the government claims to be checking on...but canadians know that's a lie. So many don't want to learn english, assimilate to Canadian cultures and their entitlement is next level. They think they are above the law. If they love their culture so much and don't want to change...don't come to a better country like Canada just to make our country shit. And I can assure you all these so called doctors and engineers and so forth aren't the majority of immigrants coming in - being an amazon driver, working at Tim's or a gas station isn't a special skill set. I’m a proud Indian who is now a Canadian citizen, and I’ve made a conscious effort to assimilate into Canadian culture and values. What bothers me is how this conversation has been reduced to blaming one group. The reality is that the Canadian government failed first by not properly managing immigration volumes, not enforcing document verification, and not honestly assessing whether the country could support such rapid population growth. That policy failure created pressure on housing, jobs, and social systems long before resentment followed. We also need honesty within the Indian community. Some Indians struggle to adapt being overly loud, culturally rigid, and sometimes lacking empathy for Canadian norms and shared public spaces. I studied Canadian and Indigenous history in school, and respecting that history matters. Assimilation doesn’t mean abandoning your culture, but it does mean understanding and respecting the society you chose to join. Cultural education should be expected, not optional. That said, one Indian doing something wrong does not make all Indians bad. Most Indian students and workers I know are hardworking, punctual, and serious about contributing. I’ve personally worked minimum-wage jobs for years, and what I noticed was not jobs being “taken,” but fewer Canadian youth willing to stay in or commit to these roles long-term. Indians didn’t replace Canadians, they filled vacancies that already existed. I also briefly volunteered helping the homeless, and what I saw was honestly shocking. It’s not that the government isn’t trying to help there are rehabilitation programs and support systems in place. The difficult truth is that a significant portion of the homeless population struggles with substance abuse and refuses treatment because it requires giving up drugs. Over time, homelessness itself starts to function like a culture, where benefits and assistance unintentionally enable continued substance use rather than recovery. This is an uncomfortable reality people don’t like to talk about. None of this is simple. Immigration didn’t break Canada, and neither did one community. Poor policy, weak enforcement, lack of accountability, and refusal from governments and individuals to adapt responsibly is what brought us here. Blame is easy. Honest solutions are not.

I am an Indian and I would say Canada belongs to white people, and we should respect their social values. Canadians dont let Canada to turn into Punjab India or into any other country. Canada has a great culture. Preserve your culture Preserve your identity Canadian authorities and Native Canadians must make sure that strict civic sense to be followed by every immigrant.Make English language mandatory for every immigrant. Also every brown skinned is not Indians. Many Pakistani and Bangladeshi also tag themselves as Indians. As a Canadian I’ll try and put this very politely and everything but I am friends with Indians that immigranted here 20+ years ago and the immigrants back then wanted to be Canadian and actually wanted to assimilate themselves in our culture the new round of immigration doesn’t do that they want to make Canada the new India they have no respect no care for the others around them and yes! The reality is that Canada’s demographic changes are largely driven by high levels of immigration from India and Arab and Muslimmajority countries. It is important to stop the narrative of hatred toward Black people, especially the labeling of them as “low IQ.” Many immigrants from Africa are hardworking and striving to assimilate, yet they continue to face unfair stereotypes. In fact, many Black immigrants are professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctors, engineers, and other professionals. Those who do not hold advanced degrees are still performing essential labor that sustains the economy. Ignoring these contributions suggests that the concern is not genuinely about protecting Canada from immigration or cultural change, but rather reflects a deeper, selective hostility toward Black people. Honest reflection and research would make this clear.

I am an immigrant too. We lives in Ontario Canada for past 12 years. The amount of indian immigrants is unbearable. The enormous quantity of them let in to a country and culture gap from the majority of Indian immigrants makes living in Ontario not pleasant anymore. Crime, scum, smell, filth and theft are synonymous of 90% of this community.

As a non Indian Canadian born and raised I’m disgusted where my country has gone. Our population has doubled since 1980, not by birth rate, but because of the amount of Indians that have immigrated here. Unfortunately, they have no desire to assimilate, they bring their own culture and they stay in their own communities. The government offers tax breaks for businesses, hiring foreign workers over people born in Canada, leaving the youth without any part-time work. On top of that some of my favourite restaurants growing up, I haven’t eaten at in years because it’s been taken over by Indians, the quality of food goes down, you end up getting food poisoning and if you aren’t in their community, you get worse service and get charged more than what an Indian would pay at the same restaurant. They don’t understand cleanliness or sanitation, they leave their garbage and waste on the street and dump it in random locations, and quite frankly have no respect for anyone who lives here or the country that has taken them in. I feel like a minority of my own country and I truly don’t understand what being Canadian means anymore because I’m pretty sure being Canadian is a thing of the past. Most of my friends have moved further north, to Vancouver island or moved out to the prairies to get away from them and higher prices as everything gets more expensive, thanks to our government, caring more about immigrants than citizens. When a family gets accepted to come here they bring their parents their aunts and uncles their brothers and sisters on temporary visas, they also collect social assistance as soon as they arrive and when their visas expire, they have no desire to go back, which has resulted in thousands of illegals remaining here. I mean I get it. Why would you go back when you’re getting treated better here and are given food, housing and an allowance every month but it’s gotten to a point where India outnumbers Canadians. I want them all sent back.

It's worse than this video shows. I don't live in Brampton and my town is entirely * after 10 years. Everywhere I go is * people. It doesn't matter what store or business or service I contact it's just * people now. When I went to college everyone was from there. This was a regular local college that Canadian kids aspire to go to. They made up 90% of the classmates, they never showed up to class, they refused to participate in team projects, nobody failed. They did so poorly but the school charges 3x. My final year they cancelled final exams because they decided too many international students would fail. They are from the same country but they have different religions and from different cities that hate each other so they would refuse to communicate with each other. Imagine you meet someone from another province and you hate them and aren't afraid to crashout in public over it. My next door neighbors there is so many people living in the house that they live there on a schedule one group in and one group out. You would think they would be going to work NO they literally hang out all day long like a bad 90s comedy movie. In the last 10 years all of the house in my town skyrocketed in price. The people around me all bought around 2010 - 2015 for $150k - $260k and sold for around $1m 2023 - 2026. Average house price in my town has stayed at 3x what it was 10 - 15 years ago. They don't rake their leaves, they don't clean up their trash, they don't clear their snow from their driveways. Both my parents are immigrants, they came here poor had to work, had to respect the country and its laws and culture because that's what allowed Canada to be successful so they could come here. All I hear about or see now is immigrants from the one country? When I was a kid I grew up with every nationality where did everybody go?

Canadian companies would rather use the program than hire local Canadian workers or young workers who are looking for there first job opportunity and gain experience. I respect immigrants who come to Canada, contribute to the community and economy and are willing to leave their culture in the past and adapt to our culture and language. I don’t respect immigrants who refuse to adapt to our language and culture. You’re in Canada, it’s either English and French, stop speaking Punjabi everywhere because we all can’t stand it, especially in businesses. Canada has a major immigration problem at this point. The upper-class Indians are either in India or in the US because that's where they go with their college degrees to make money. But Canada is very lucky to even have these people. What most people around the world do not understand is that without immigration, countries like Canada have negative population growth, and their economies would collapse. There would not be anybody to work in Tim Hortons or any service positions at anywhere near reasonable prices. Break down from a Canadian who moved to the US. Basically, Indians moved to Brampton because it was a cheaper area, yet close enough to Toronto. Immigrants drove taxi or drove truck usually were paid in cash, leading to tax evaluation. So they were able to save more... They were able to buy a bigger house for cheaper basically. New immigrants move to Brampton probably cause it easier. They don't need to assimilate as much as they sued to. They can speak their own language, not have to learn another, etc. You can actually see certain immigrant groups take to certain cities for the reasons above. Vaughn is Italian, Etobicoke was multi cultural, now Somalian(last I visited), sauga is Arab, etc The universities are a big scam, and the govt is part of it. They don't care cause they get money.... People create these fake colleges and bring in students. Students have "online" classes and so they don't actually go in . In Canada ur allowed to work 20 hours as a student, but all work more under the table. And yes. As a Punjabi, there is too many Indians. It was too many when I left. Worse now.. don't even like visiting Canada anymore unless I go to Barrie or something.

Not just brown town in Brampton it’s all over. Worst thing man is they are training ppl in Punjab at the local stores. Train ppl in English or French it’s Canada. I find it ignorant to train ppl in a language that Canadians don’t use. I go into Tim Hortons in a small town and they barely know English. First of all, Tyler is a hardworking journalist and I respect that, however a lot of this video was wildly ignorant, from almost everyone involved, including from him. This is cheap views unfortunately. It paints a very bad perspective for all the genuinely hardworking citizens and residents of Indian origins, why not show that side of them too? There’s obviously actual students who come to study and provide for the community while also maintaining their own culture? What’s wrong with that? Besides, what is a Canadian culture if not a mix of immigrants from all around the world? Are white people also not just immigrants to this country or did they magically spawn in this place? They’ve committed ATROCITIES (not just in Canada), yet have the audacity to act like they’re the cleanest ones in the land. While I do agree some Indians do not improve the reputation, most are really kind, helpful and honest people. Perhaps treat everyone like humans for a change instead of using the bad ones as a benchmark. PS, cutting to the ugly streets when someone mentions Punjab is probably the cheapest attention grab, obviously there’s bad streets, ugly roads, gross people everywhere but so are beautiful ones, lovely countryside views, beautiful mountains and most of all, very hardworking and respectful people as well. Your view of Punjab is just NOT the same as the one of the people in the video who view their motherland as a beautiful place. You can portray every place in the world in that light with the wrong perspective, be it New York, Paris, Barcelona, Cairo, Sydney, Rio, London, etc, but it must be nice to get a few more looks at the expense of demeaning others.

India is multi-cultural, Punjab is only 1 part of India and their culture is different from the other Indian states represented in India. The behavior of Punjabi immigrants is not reflective of other Indian cultures in India. For whatever reason there seems to more Punjabi migrants in Canada than from any other state in India. Its the job of Canada to enforce assimilation and immigration rules, they deliberately don't. Littering and defecating in public spaces is illegal in Canada but the Canadian government refuses to enforce those rules.

As a Canadian I think immigration is a good thing, but the liberal government has completely broken that system. The people coming here do not assimilate into Canadian culture and they do not respect this country. This isn't the Canada I grew up in and it's not the Canada that I want to keep living in. Mortgage fraud has also increased DRASTICALLY since the influx of new immigrants coming to Canada within the last 10 years. And who is doing the fraud? 95% of the fraud cases are new immigrants from India. There are many good people that come from india, but there are FAR more than don't assimilate, have no interest in ever assimilating, and they abuse our social systems, stealing from every Canadian as well as cause our quality of life to drastically drop. Our healthcare systems are beyond overloaded and bursting at the seams, our housing prices have skyrocketed, our house and auto insurance rates have also gone through the roof. And speaking of going through the roof, numerous houses were lit on fire late last year from new immigrants irresponsibly lighting off MASSIVE amounts of fireworks during Diwali, then you have the crowds of Indian families going to our previously pristine beaches and digging pits, which they then proceeded to use as their bathroom. People were actually selling "Beach $hitter" t-shirts because the problem was getting so common. Immigration is ok, but the amount of people the Canadian government has allowed into Canada, ALL from totally different cultural origins, in such a short amount of time was never, and will never be sustainable. In my opinion, Canada needs to full stop close its borders to anyone immigrating for at minimum 5-10 years, to allow the countries infostructure time to catch up with the masses of people who have already come into the country. But that will never happen with the liberals at the helm, they would literally get rid of the whole concept of a "border" if they could. Elbows up ya dorks!

I am so sick of this shit... you guys act like white people didn't do this exact same thing years ago but because they aren't white and have a different culture then "most" Canadians it becomes a problem. Canada accepts a lot of immigrants more then the US but if the US had a less strict immigration policy it would probably look very similar. Canada is super under populate comparing it to other countries of the same exact size. Hey Canadians can we not be as racist as the flipping Americas. Saying that they're is an invasion of people who have proper documentation and are allowed to live in Canada is racist.
