I think Donald is purposely trying to get us into a recession so him and all his billionaire buddies consume everything at low prices whether it’s real estate or stocks. Wouldn’t put it past them.

Trump doesn’t even grasp the fact that tariffs are paid by the companies importing goods into the US and passed on to consumers - he seems to think that the tariffs are paid by the exporting country. Some businessman!

The US isn't launching a trade war against anyone. We are closing up shop and are getting ready to take care of our own. There is a massive difference. We cannot be expected to continue supporting other countries economies and defense obligations, when we have 2 generations of working class citizens unable to afford a home or have children. We have entire countries we could fill with the homeless and incarcerated, and veterans who see little to no positive treatment or respect within the job market. Things are already very very bad here in the states. I don't think many Americans realize how bad the economy is. Tariffs will force US companies to reduce the outsourcing of jobs, and force other countries who are over-reliant on trade from the States, to cultivate their own self-sufficiency. This may seem hypocritical when it comes to China, but that isn't a problem you can solve overnight. \n\nTo make it clear, Americans are going to suffer in the wake of this tariff decision, but that is the price we pay to force ourselves to change. We have made ourselves into a very weak country because of overreliance on other countries trade, and other countries overreliance on our intelligence, infrastructure, medical advancements, technological advancements, and defense capabilities. The american consumer and taxpayer front the bills for all of this, and they are suffering. This isn't a war on the rest of the world. It us telling everyone else that we can no longer be relied upon because we are weak. \n\nI didnt' even vote Trump the first two times he ran. But things have now gotten so bad that I was forced into voting for him this time. Why? Because he's a bull in a china shop. I expect him to tear every damn thing apart he can within our government. I want everything destroyed so it can be rebuilt by people who aren't complacent.

Apple, Taiwan, Japan, and honda already invested billions of dollars to America just to avoid tariffs. Like trump said, everything will be built in US soil, from steel, cars, technology chips, etc. In addition, America is the biggest consumer in commerce. These countries need the US dollar. It's either invested in America now and built your products in America or pay the tariffs. Your choice... oh, and for eggs, the US spends $110 million (2023) in eggs from China... Good time for the american farmer to thrive, don't you think?

I actually am a fan of trump and I think he’s a strong person who will stand for the country, but what he is doing with these tariffs are gonna have long lasting effects on our country company’s will raise prices on products to make up for loss profits and that will harm who? Yes it’ll harm us the consumers somebody really needs to sit down and talk with trump before he makes a poor decision, tariffs are very easy and quick to be put onto a country but taking away tariffs not so much

Trump stopped targeting Russian hackers. The US ordered cyber command to longer monitor Russisn hackers or to go after them. \n\nTrump ends the consumer watching agency that protected the US citizens from fraud and cyber fraud and the watching general who was tasked to monitor fake money scams like some bit coins which many are dark web money payments from crooks and money laundering. Only US thing i consume are digital services. American cars are junk, no better than chinese brands like jac or MG, american food is just processed junk, so i rarely ate it, but no more. \n\nCancelled Netflix, HBO and amazon primer for different reasons each (and most of them is because they don't work in UAe and expect me tonpay twice ????).\n\n I'm thinking about shifting to linux, but i would still be usinh google apps like YT and my phone. \n\nI have been doing my part since a while ago as american goods and services are overpriced for low quality

Trump’s tariffs (/geo-economic warfare)—and his desire to annex Canada and Greenland and seize back control of the Panama Canal—has got little to do with immigration or drugs coming into the US (whatever happened to Build the Wall?) especially in the case of Canada. It’s about debt and power, the former growing, the latter fading. Trump himself has said tariffs are a means to make America wealthy and to abolish income tax. It’s got to do with America living outside its means with massive deficits and ballooning debt, and rather than take responsibility for that, the US thinks others should pay (when US consumers will) for it to continue to live outside its means, while it cuts taxes largely to the benefit of the wealthy... \nRemember when Iraq invaded Kuwait, how it said it was because Kuwait (and the United Arab Emirates) caused a drop in oil prices with the overproduction of crude oil, thus impacting Iraq’s ability to pay its debts and recover from the Iran-Iraq war, but really it was about seizing Kuwait’s large oil reserves, canceling the debt it owed Kuwait, and expanding its power in the region… Sound similar?

You guys are incorrect on what happens when the US raises tariffs on certain items from Colombia. Do you think American importers will continue to import highly tariffed commodities like bananas and coffee?! No they find other countries and other sources because consumers won’t pay 50% more on coffee and bananas. Guess what what Russia and North Korea are doing? ISOLATED to death on their economy. Russia isn’t doing well unlike what others may be thinking. They’re only doing barely enough because of their oil and coals, yet their oils aren’t traded high enough and look at North Korea it’s segregated. I’ve been to North Korea actually by accident and they live like 100 years ago, in deluded made up world far from reality. Look at Cuba. They are sanctioned by the U.S. and the rest of the developed countries. Who is going to lose by being highly tariffed?? Columbia. Not the U.S. You guys need one on one basic education on trading commodities.

Honestly how is it possible that almost all of Trump's supporters lack critical thinking, they are just emotional babies like him. How is it hard to think that having such Tariffs affects consumer price at the same rate. How dumb can you be not to see this? I also understand other countries to denay the landing of military planes without schedule or agreed up on time and place. How would US feel if another country just sends their military plane without any information . This is wild.

Trump is such a dumbass. He thinks the tariffs will be paid by exporting countries like Mexico, China, and Canada. The Trump tariffs will be paid by American manufacturers and American consumers. Everything is about to become a lot more expensive in the US, especially with a 25% tariff on the 4.5 million barrels of oil Canada ships to the US every day. At best, inflation becomes a bigger problem, and Americans lose their jobs. At worst, Trump's tariffs cause a made in America recession.

He couldn't get the last President of Mexico to pay for his so called wall, then embezzled funds raised by US citizens to build it, then had a completion ceremony, which was a lie. What was built was about 10 miles of fencing that was being climbed by sun down the same day. His idea was to shoot all those who crossed in the legs or dig a moat and fill it full of alligators. Now he thinks that putting tariffs on goods coming in from other countries will hurt THEM, but it doesn't, it hurts us the American consumers, so who he really wants to hurt is us, the American public. Effectively he has now raised OUR COST OF GOODS BY 25%. The same stupid thing he did his last time around!

for those that don't understand tariffs. If I currently import a t-shirt from Mexico for 10.00 and sell it in the US for 15.00, I make 5 dollars in profit which I use to pay my staff and keep my business running. When Trump puts a 25% tariff on that t-shirt, it now costs me 12.50.You think I am going to eat 2.50 per t-shirt. No, I'm now going to charge you, the consumer, 17.50 for the same t-shirt because my cost of doing business has not gone down. You all really need to do some research and understand tariffs. I'm not moving my business to the US. I'm still getting the same amount of money for my products. The US consumer is footing the bill....

I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. The people in the west have had no say in the faulty governments we have had as Ontario and Quebec have put the final nails in our coffin when they elected that buffoon JT for a third consecutive term and then the NDP kisses his butt to join up and torture us more when most sane Canadians did not ask for this. I don't think anyone truly understands how difficult, time-consuming and painful the US immigration process is unless they either work in the system or have immigrated. My dad has been waiting for an F4 visa since 2007 (priority date December 2007) to come to the US and be reunited with his family, It doesn't look like he'll get the visa within the next 5 years even though he's been waiting for 16 years.He's just one of the millions of people trapped in the broken American immigration system.His experience has thought me to never even try to immigrate to the US.

How to start preparing. \n\nTake three days during the work week and turn off your electric and water. Make do with what you can and write down things you needed and didn't have or tasks that were difficult. After you have this list, research alternatives\nEat, wear and consume cheaper. Choose cheaper meals to create room in your grocery budget to put back food. Wear second hand clothes or put a spending freeze on clothes shopping in order to make room to buy what you'll need for the future (especially if you have small children who grow frequently). Consume less electricity, gas, propane by finding alternatives. This may mean using a crock pot, hang drying clothes, using candles at night and opening windows for sunshine during the day etc. With the wiggle room you've created in those bills you now have some money to buy more food storage, medical supplies or invest in a small solar unit. \nMake an edc bag. This is something you will carry all the time (on your person or in your car) that could provide you with what you and your family need for 3 nights. Think about what you may put into an overnight bag if you were to stay at a hotel. This will ensure even if something happens and you're out you're able to shelter in place \nUnderstand how to take care of medical emergencies at home. Remember that in a major event, ems could be down or unavailable for sometime. While this is never the first line of defense in an emergency, understanding how to manage medical emergencies (high infections, deep wounds, pneumonia, asthma attacks, shock, 2nd and 3rd degree burns, poisoning, radiation sickness, torn ligaments, allergic reactions, excessive bleeding) while you wait on help can be life and death. \n Food, water, temperature control are your highest priorities. If faced with a major event where services are limited for more than 3 days, having stored food as well as a way to cook, a way to filter and store water, and a way to keep yourself cool or warm can be life altering. \n\nPlease remember as we are entering or for some of us are already in uncertain times, having this foundation gives security as well as lowers stress. It allows us to feel more in control and gain a more positive perspective on not only our lives but the world.
