I am First Nations and I have been concerned about how the face and language of Canada has changed. The first thing we noticed in our small town was that the taxi companies were taken over by East Indians. Now days you are hard pressed to get a taxi anywhere in Canada and get a driver who hails from India. I used to like Tim Horton's until I needed an interpreter to make my order, one doesn't speak English so, she had to get another worker to take my order. You go into any 7/11 or any gas station, or convenience store. All are staffed by people from India. But, it isn't just Indians. There are many other immigrants coming to Canada from China, Japan etc. None of these immigrants do not speak very good English. I have faced prejudice from these people who do not recognize my rights as an indigenous person. Going for an xray, blood test the field is mostly Asian. I have to get cataract surgery and I couldn't understand the Chinese receptionist and had to spell most of what I said to her. That means their business is mostly with Chinese-speaking people. As a First Nations person my status will always be a minority. With every immigrant that comes to Canada my status as an indigenous person diminishes. Taking transit shows me that english or french are ever spoken. Canadians are the new minority.

Sorry I don't believe that Indian dude, from my personal experience of working for an Indian company, being the only white employee, not 1 of them ever told 100% truth! Lying is considered Normal in they're Culture, they don't see it as lying!!! We each have our little flickers of time here... No one else will ever know much, if any, of what it is like to be who we are, and for the most part no one will ever really care. Our life is ultimately our life, and so long as we are not harming others in the process we must create a life of our own meaning, determining our own objects of importance and committing to their pursuance. Throughout our life we are faced with serious decisions about what we believe, who we are, and what we do, and mostly none of it is self evident. If we look we can always find a reason to regret any decision we make, move or stay, agree or disagree, take the job or quit, marry or divorce, live one path or another... In all cases whatever the choice may be, we will only know the outcome of the one we take, and none we take will ever ultimately resolve the uncertainty of life. However, perhaps it is less about getting a potential course of life right, and more about attempting to do so with an effort of self honesty and virtue. To live a life that can be looked back on with the knowledge that some of our decisions were wrong in their effects, but right in their intention of not selling ourselves short. Ultimately no matter what we do or say or believe, there will always be a great many who disagree, or judge, or become upset by our decisions. It is of essential importance that we ensure that among those people, we are not one of them.

I mean this is no different than Latinos in the US. Entire cities have become mostly Latino with many people who don’t speak English. White people were already minorities in the cities before that though. Decades ago Blacks had moved to the cities and many Whites moved out to the suburbs to avoid them, and used discriminatory policies to stop the Blacks from following them. I don’t feel sympathy for the Whites though. They are simply going through a much nicer version of what indigenous people went through. Canada is building a tonne of housing as is, a bit less than in the past, so yes, issues with the growth of red tape, zoning, development taxes, etc should be addressed, but the problem has mainly been that the population has been growing at an exponential rate, in the past decade. The construction workforce actually doesn't have that many immigrants - around 77% are Canadian born, compared to 73% of the overall workforce, and I suspect the 23% that are immigrants are probably mostly immigrants that have been here a while, with very few temporary workers (which are mostly in retail/commercial services, elder care, and agriculture). That means immigration has been a bigger problem for increasing housing demand, compared to any benefit to increasing the supply through increasing construction workforce, especially when you consider that the size of the construction workforce is proportional to the total population, while the housing demand is more correlated to population growth. \n\nThere is also the differentiation between expanding infrastructure/housing supply, vs improving/maintaining it. It would not be a bad thing if we were able to shift some of the construction workforce towards improving our stormwater infrastructure, fixing roads, and building transit alternatives (improves quality of life), rather than just building more and more new roads and homes just to keep up with population growth (maintains quality of life).

in my work we have mostly immigrated east Indians from various area's 5 white males and 2 white females the rest in our local branch out of 47 employees are non white keep in mind though that is a ground level branch number up higher are wealthier white manager positions were the ratio is primarily white bodies but one thing i hear them saying a lot is that they do not like going back home that when they do they are targeted as wealthy off the planes and are stalked and targeted apparently one thing i never would have thought is they also say there is a ton of roaming mob crime in india that girls and men are targeted who are of native blood and that even in there homes they are not safe so i mean if we bring in majority young males from these regions you have to think that bad habits come with them i would probably disagree if the majority were young girls mostly because i dont think any culture has a surplus of problematic immigrating young women it just doesn't happen

The only thing I would say cause you seem to be very young. Is that brampton actually in the 70's and to early 2000's used to be mostly a white and black community and then other cultures. I am born in Toronto I have a cousin born in Toronto who currently lives in brampton she owns a house in brampton for about 25 years. And is going through a lot mentally with the slamming. We got of people from India mostly in the last 2 years, but it's been going on slowly over 10 years and she's not doing well with the overwhelment of Indians and we're of black Jamaican heritage. So just so you know, brampton used to actually be white and then black was actually the second largest population and everybody else was after that. And then in the last 10 years they started coming but it wasn't in hundreds of thousands and then in the last 2 years it blew up insanely. As that man described is like an invasion. I now live on the West Coast of Canada and the same thing has happened here. And it's been a lot for me Canadian born. I've always grew up with every culture. I've lived and worked around the Indians that used to come here were literally not even on the radar. I mean you see them, but you just they just blended in because most of them had assimilated and were doing their lives. We like to just have their own space and our own peace when they're moving throughout this space and a lot of people describe the energy of the Indians coming in almost evasive into your space and then not really carrying anything about invading ur space. They act like, so what's the big deal if I'm in your space and that has been the number one issue is just the rudeness. Not assimilating and imposing their culture, speaking their language, not attempting to integrate with other cultures showing actually a lot of racism to some of the other cultures. And that has been the biggest problem. So just so you know, cause I can tell you're young. I'm North 40 years old and I can tell you. The demographic change has been so intense everywhere in Canada especially in the last 2 years. That I have even seen podcast with Indian people who have been here 10 -20-30 years, saying the government needs to figure out a way and get a good swath of these people gone because they are. Staining them with a negative brush. Cause I can tell you. It's only in the last 5 years. That I notice Indians. I've grown up around every culture. And I just don't notice individual cultures in that way. Until in 2022, Trudeau took the guard railsl off the foreign worker program and the student Visa working program. And India is known for having middlemen in India that work with Fake Diploma Mills scholls with brampton having over 80 of them that the middlemen work scamming Indians by telling them if they pay anywhere from $5000 all the way up to $50,000 even higher to get fake school acceptance letters, so they can come here to get the word permit and work full-time or with companies that provide fake LMIA job offers on the black market, which is illegal under the I.R.C.C, but that is a thing that they had prior to 2022. And when Trudeau took the guards rails off when it comes the requirements and basically. Made it a free-for-all and as India already had the scamming infrastructure in place that kept their population moderate and it just allowed th scammers to go nuts, so that's why we got mostly Indians. Other cultures do it too, but it's so tiny. It's not noticeable. The Indians already had the infrastructure in place that when they took off the guard rails, it was easy for them to switch and start selling these opportunities to go to these fake schools was over 80 of them in brampton t such a lightening speed. Hence why we got slammed so hard-and-fast with that specific community.That just really we're coming here to work and send money home and that is also why a lot of our banks are now struggling with cash reserved because they're sending money home. TFW here, east Asian, a couple of things:\nI am paid the provincial minimum wage, and work in the dairy industry, medium sized farm.\nI started working straight out of high school\n\nFrom what I can see and hear from across the province and largely in the western Canadian provinces, older generation farmers are at the retirement age, but the younger generation is generally very reluctant to take over. \nNot all industries, but definitely in livestock, people sometimes don't realize that, there is literally no breaks, ever! You work every day, holidays, Christmas, and if you do chose to take a few days off, your co-workers, i.e. other family members or workers, have to take up the extra workload. You barely have time for your family, you are often tired around your kids. Farmers have some of the highest suicide rates among all occupations, as well as a difficulty to find partners due to the nature of their jobs.\nThe work is hard, days long, especially during harvests, and if the ever more expensive tractors, equipment fail...\nThere used to be a lot of family owned farms, over the last few decades most have sold their generational farm and left the industry, most because of the cost to operate and because the next generation's unwillingness to take over.\nYong people my age have not been seen applying for my position in a few years now, despite ongoing hiring effort at significantly higher than minimum wage, and I have repeatedly stated that I, although love my job, am ready to step aside at any point so a Canadian PR or citizen can take my position, as required by worker rules. There were a few inquiries from neighboring areas, mostly made by parents, but their children in the end all refused to work, even part time, or seasonal.\n\nOn the other hand, there is the issue of prices: equipment costs have largely more than doubled since the pandemic, grain prices rose... and all that on top of the constant uncertainty of the weather every planting and harvesting season. Most farms don't ever make a profit after the yearly operating cost is deducted from earnings, and the little profit that on occasion appear, goes right back into paying debt or reinvesting in renewing long overdue old equipment.\n\nMy position, and all those similar to mine in agriculture, are in all fairness, very low skilled, with minimum training, and therefore is only worth minimum wage, in my opinion. I was actually offered a higher amount but in the end turned it down because on the job, I discovered the only thing I bring to the table is manual labor (I know that's not really the right way to go about wages, but I do believe that wages should be based on the irreplaceableness of one's skills, and as it stands, although no replacements were ever found, I am very much easily replaceable, skill wise). That, compared to a slightly better paid Starbucks position, with benefits (most farm workers and owners don't have benefits or pension, yes owners too), air conditioning, regular work hours. I mean, if it wasn't for my particular interest for agriculture I'd pick Starbucks any day too!\n\nI think a couple issues are at hand, \n1. Most of agriculture's profit ends up in the corporate processing and supermarkets, that needs to change, workers could benefit, as well as consumers, from distributing that profit between farmers and shoppers.\n2. Agriculture in today's context no longer fit the modern life, although I strongly think that A LOT of people can benefit from getting their hands dirty once in a while and sweating a bit, improve physical and mental health, have better discipline all that jazz. So foreign workers are the temporary solution, if well regulated so that Canadian PR and citizens are ALWAYS prioritized for hire and at a fair wage. This cannot happen unless farmers can turn a profit, stated in point 1.\n3. The Canadian economy is made up of 80% in the service sectors and only 20% in the manufacturing and natural resources sectors ! There is a small chance the government will encourage them to stay, but as all socioeconomic predictions call for, more workforce mean more money made. Being an Indian living in India I can tell you one thing that mostly people who are not 'good enough' in anything pay lumsum amount of money to move to Canada. For instance, most of the students going to Canada for study, lack foundational knowledge that should've been taught to them at school. Take a GRE-like exam by randomly selecting Indians residing in this area and u will understand what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, the current Canadian govt knows this and capitalise on this problem as they have turned the education system of Canada into a money-vending machine. Furthermore, no skill development opportunities and lack of jobs intensify these problems as these individuals are never exposed in a multicultural urban setting. That is why likeminded individuals aggregate and live in silos. Lastly, for my Indian brothers and sisters, I would like to say that yall should try to assimilate with the culture rather than live in silos. That doesn't necessarily mean yall should abandon ur religion and culture, but try to participate more in various activities associated with Canadian culture. Like Im a Hindu, but I participate in Eid & Christmas as well in India.. We should be open to new experiences, especially when moving to a foreign country, one should be able to adapt.. just like one adapts to the weather, one should also embrace the culture.. Try talking to people who are 'non-Indians', have a genuine conversation, find out the history of the place and various other key milestones in the region.. mostly engage in amicable social behaviour. It’s crazy the way people forget that Canada doesn’t end at the end of Quebec. I hate to break it to you, but there are still affordable places to live in this country, They’re just mostly not in the urban centres of Ontario, Quebec, BC or Alberta. If you actually choose to acknowledge the existence of the other six provinces, you can have a pretty good life in this country! with that being said, I also have a good friend who’s making $100k a year fresh out of university in downtown Calgary. Everyone saying salaries are too low, there are no opportunities in this country, I’m curious to know what opportunities we’ve actually lost? Just because they aren’t being afforded to you doesn’t mean they don’t exist, maybe this should spur some self-reflection. You do have to work hard to succeed after all! \n\nLife is hard, always has been. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

Canada is suffering because of bad leadership. The government is unable to step in in housing, because that would mean lowering the global value of it. That means most people are going paycheck to paycheck, unable to afford savings, nor think about retirement. Unable to afford to improved their housing situation, paying rent that is so high that it should be consider a crime. \n\nIn fact, i predict many landlord will be killed in the coming years, by people losing their mind, because of incredible amount of stress they are suffering from. You think i am joking? Just the last 2 days, 2 woman lost their life because of being beaten to death by their husband... \n\nThis country is failing and failing fast because it doesn't take care of its population anymore... it is a doom country and immigration was the nail in the coffin. The system is unable to sustain such a demand. The next year is gonna see an incredible rise in criminality, and i foresee mass murdering events, like there was in the US.

Labour shortage, to Canadian government, just means not enough Walmart staff, Tim Hortons workers, labourers and nurses for (mostly) females. All my friends from abroad turn to hating their Canadian life within weeks.

Truth is that the immigration system has been a source of income and financial gain for the system but gives little back. Sadly many Canadians think the opposite is true. They think because refugees are given shelter while waiting for processing that means they receive support more than the locals. Truth is immigrants come here mostly on loans, spend years working and spending to support families back home, it takes years to understand the taxing, credit, wealth, education and many other resources that drives the Canadian community. This put immigrants in a position where they work more than the local just to meet the bare minimum life standards. If many of the immigrants knew the ins and outs of the system, then they would really take over and appreciate being in canada. \n\nCanadians and canada as a whole are welcoming. You might meet a few who have little knowledge of the global system and standard against immigrants, something that their countries economic system depends on. Remember your countries have never lived without immigration. From the day the first white personal stepped onto this lane, immigrants have continued to come in more different colours. It’s been 5 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. The fact is you’ll never have a good paying job in Canada being an immigrant. When I say this trust me I mean it. Most you’ll get is a minimum wage job which can make you survive the life here. This is something that could really help my industry if that 65,000 was raised. Everybody knows aviation is a tight industry, and with a massive labor shortage. The flight school I attend is half immigrants, mostly Japanese and Korean with a moderate minority of Europeans and Africans. The Asian students are for the most part wanting to stay in the US, despite not coming from poor nations. The opportunity for a pilot here is leagues above anywhere else bar Europe, but most will likely not even be able to maintain a work visa, let alone a green card. This also means (as pointed out) that leaving the country is hard, and they would only be allowed to fly domestic flights within the country (no flying to Canada). The issues that these highly qualified pilots could solve by being allowed to work in the US airline industry are inconceivable.\n\nIt took my mum (I was born British-American) took 9 years to become a US citizen, I was there for her first swearing in, and the UK is America’s closest ally. Imagine how difficult it is for immigrants not of such nationality.

Children getting shot is not a “touchy subject.” It’s an insane problem. And yes, there are children shot daily! Dude, there is no where on the planet where there are children and humans shot on anywhere CLOSE to the scale that it happens in the US.\n\nAnyway, move to the States? Not on your life! I used to like some vacations there, but the current insane right-wing, fascist politics, anti-vax and anti-mask and anti-science entrenched attitudes, and MOSTLY the pervasive threat of gun violence and the manic love affair with guns — UGH - all mean I am not interested in even vacationing there. There is a sane world outside the USA.\n\nNor would I want to live inside such an inward-looking, self-absorbed “we are the centre of the world” culture that truly believes itself superior to all others in the world. The hubris and delusion are very off-putting. \n\nAnd to live in such a broken health care system? Where profits drive it all? Not on your life.\n\nOh, I couldn’t stand the hot weather that so many places have either. No thanks! I’ll take my coldest large city in the world (Winnipeg) any day. \n\nThere is nothing appealing about the prospect of living anywhere in the States, despite WONDERFUL vacations I’ve had there is past decades.

As a Canadian from the Maritimes I have to agree with all the reasons he read. Any time I travel south I have the highest travel insurance to fly me back to Canada if something happens. I have visited the US many times and enjoyed it while I was there but was VERY happy to be home. I agree the small towns are safER but I saw people driving around with 5 LARGE guns in the roof rack of their truck, I DO NOT mean hunting rifles. NOPE! Got in the rental car and headed North out of Georgia right away. The South IS beautiful to see and may people were very sweet but I did not feel safe there. I prefer the Northern states. I was thinking about my yearly vacation options recently and the US was NO WHERE on my list. Mostly Northern Europe, Italy, and Greece. Sorry, but that's my opinion of my travels there.

Quebec (montreal): Medical care, any public services rude, irresponsive and bureaucracy sucks n complicated (example: people wait for uncertainty just to renew their driving license), THE CRUELEST THING IN QUEBEC INCLUDING MONTREAL IS MEDICAL SERVICES (my god reminds me of third world countries i have ever been in), they will just ignore you heartlessly even if you have RAMQ (quebec heath care coverage), u have to have family doctor n u have to sign up to get one IN UNCERTAIN TIME, some they get family doctor within 3 years, others 5,7 years so on so forth so uncertain, so if u dont have family doctor u wont get treated, and if u have family doctor u will hve to stick to where your family doctor works at only, and to get appointment at some clinic they will put you on wait for some days or even weeks if u get the availability slots for u, if u got emergency u will wait 8,10,12 or 14 hours in pain. I feel bad for montreal citizen i swear, they r so patient with all of this while the tax is one of highest in canada. \n\nNow for rental (apartment in general), the check is crazy long it takes around 2 weeks just to rent, if u r lucky u will get taken if u r not then the landlord will take others, the 1 year lease means 1 year, so far to my experience in alberta like for example, 1 year lease but minimum period u have to stay usually around 3-6 months n after that u can leave with notice to the landlord to vacate the unit. \n\nBut in montreal, u have to find other person to transfer the lease, n if u found the person like i told u earlier, the landlord will check the person n the approval/ disapproval is by the landlord. I had to stay for one year living like hell cause the neighbors freaking so loud n partying every week end night till dawn. Couldn’t even have good sleep for work, so I called 911 two times, the police couldn’t do anything, yet the landlord n the building management kept on saying that they gave warning etc to that tenant, but they didn’t take any further action toward that, n i know they dont care, they care only for money. When i started to file complaint to the TAL(quebec rental board, they r irresponsive, complicated procedures, n in the end they dont solve any problem, on their site said that renter or landlord has to retain lawyer, the hell they r there for then? \n\nThe apartment building is tiny, tight old, the wall is thin, u can hear everything from your neighbour upstair, downstair n on your side too.. \n\nMONTREAL IS ALSO SO DENSED AND TIGHT, the main road so tight with cars parked on both sides of the road to ways only one lane on each way, cos mostly apartment building they dont provide parking spot, so they have to park on the road side, i feel bad for the bus driver i swear, with snow mounting on both side of the road makes driving bus is just so stressful, almost every neighbourhood looks dirty, trashes, people littering every where. Im Not complaining but that’s what it is, im living in montreal currently for more than one year but im just gonna move out of here lol

I hope you don't underestimate Europe's existing problems when i went to London 4 years ago i was shocked that it wasnt the place i imagined it to be no need to explain im sure you understand what i mean. Im an Asian immigrant, but i wasnt expecting that i couldnt even see a caucasian in London mostly arabs, blacks, indians, some asians i do not hate it but im just confused i worked in the middle east for 10 yrs and i was hearing arabic speaking everywhere, also asian language its like im in Vancouver or Surrey area. I thjnk its not an isolated problem probably your new to that place thats why you do not see the problems yet but i hope you made the right decision. All the best. The tax is really quite high but the Canadain government though with some flaws is still better than most countries believe me i have lived in Asia, middle east and been to places and met all kinds of people. One thing that seperates Canadian from most other nationalities despite the different ethnicities and races Canadians are generally nice and less violent and id rather have my kids grow up here than any part of the world. Oh yeah you should have tried luving in other provincea each one has a different experience ? i have lived in BC and Saskatchewan it was like living in another continent different culture and different environment but still most great people ?
