Why is it so difficult to have reasonable conversations about this? Most of this video is completely true — but so many comments show love to that bike guy who was factually incorrect and pointlessly racist. But on the other hand, so many woke types don’t even want to admit the problem. They also don’t want to talk about how the government is complicit. Every nation has a right to define itself, and how much immigration it wants, and how that immigration happens. It is beyond ridiculous to not speak the primary language of the country you emigrate to. But why say weird shit like indians eat shit?? Or that 1.5 billion people are all the same? The rationale behind early immigration was to be very tough and selective about who enters and lives here. They welcomed students because it brought in a lot of revenue so that’s a win-win, but to LIVE they had to prove they were an asset to the community. Now the whole thing is manipulated. You don’t have proper vetting for the students because of fake colleges that just want to make money. You don’t have proper limits on immigration and criteria for jobs/skills because companies want to make money. Politicians just do whatever strategy gets votes. But for some reason people either only get woke about the positives of Indian immigrants or only negative, sometimes racist about them. It’s fair to acknowledge that rampant, unchecked immigration ruins the culture. Like Indian driving culture is fucking terrible. You don’t want to bring that shit over. You can also acknowledge that early immigrants and their kids are often completely American/Canadian, from their native language, accents, education, references etc. And that Indians are generally a low-crime, high-employment, high-tax-paying immigrant group. And we ALSO acknowledge that that’s changing because of the type/number of people coming in, and the financial and political incentives which support it. It causes valid resentment. I feel this video does cover what's happening but don't answer the question why its happening. Here's what i think- To start with - A major population of indian immigrants in Canada come from two provinces/states - Punjab and Gujarat. From Punjab - Most of the population who migrates to Canada are villagers. They are notoriously famous in Punjab cities as well for creating trouble. They have no civic sense, always getting involved in illegal stuff, some use drugs, no etiquettes, poor hygiene and very arrogant sometimes. Another thing, Canadian government over the years stopped taking in-person interviews and got lenient with rules for gaining a visa especially for students which doesn't make sense and one should be catious so of what kind of people they are letting in their country. This leads to letting in a bunch of wrong people who are already a troublemaker in Punjab and then represents a bad of side of Indians. A side note - Every Indian province is very very different and not all people are same in India. It's definitely a shit situation which shows Canadian government definitely needed a better way to handle immigration. A lot of international students has been exploited by the system as well if you get to know from there point of view as well. As a Canada who speaks both French and English and who follows politics quite closely, I have to say that the headline and some of the reporting here is quite misleading. A reduction in immigration has broad support across Canada. I wouldn't say that notion is dividing the country in any significant way. You do have certain industry groups that disagree, but among the population these reductions have broad support. This is a historic change in public opinion in Canada, but it has been driven by the unprecedented increase in immigration under the last term of the Trudeau government. To put this in context, non-permanent residents in Canada numbered around 1.5 million on Q3 2023, but by Q3 2025, that number sat a just over 3 million. The previous government increased immigration targets by 3 or 4 times over what they had been for years, which caused a number of economic issues. Essentially, the volume was simply too high for the economy and society to support. This was unfair to both Canadians and new comers, many of which could not find employment or afford a decent place to live. The changes being suggested are largely bringing Canada back to what the targets were for over a decade before, though a bit lower to account for the sudden surge. Canada remains one of the most pro-immigration countries in the world. However, and this is where I think DW's reporting is misleading, there is a distinction to be made between policies at the federal level and policies at the provincial level. Immigration, per our constitution, is a federal matter, however, Quebec in particular is distinct from other provinces. I don't mean only culturally and linguistically, but also in the powers that have been devolved to it by the federal government. On the question of immigration, Quebec has more powers and more ability to set its immigration targets and programs than any of the other 9 provinces. The particular program discussed here, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), is a particular immigration stream that only existed in Quebec. So what is happening with that program cannot be labeled as a whole-of-Canada thing. Where the changes to the PEQ are controversial, unlike the general changes at the federal level, is that people who immigrated under that specific program were promised certain things. There was a multi-year time line to Permanent Residency and then Citizenship. Many of those people have been in Quebec for 5-8 years already. However, the changes made to the program were done in such a way where people who many years into the program, had gotten an education, started a career, had children, ect. are now being told they can't continue and must leave Canada. There are even stories of people who married Canadians, now have children, and the one parent who was under this program now faces the possibility of having to leave Canada and be separated from their family. All through no fault of their own. That is what many people see as unfair, and I agree, however limiting future applications under the program, to bring in less people, that is not controversial. Canada has no responsibility to bring in people who are not already in Canada, but Canada does have some responsibility towards people who uprooted their lives to move to Canada and built new lives here based on promises and representations made to them by the Canadian and Quebecois governments. We should no simply kick those people out of the country.

That’s why wherever they go, they behave the same way they think, without caring that they are in another country. They don’t care about respecting that country or adjusting to its culture. Instead, they try to impose their own culture everywhere. They want to create their own space everywhere and put their own things everywhere. But if foreigners come to India and live here permanently, they just do their work and live normally. Even if they do something publicly to promote their own culture, Indians will immediately go against them. But I haven’t seen the same reaction outside. People there should also oppose this; otherwise, Indians will really spread everywhere in the same way.

My parents immigrated in the early 90s and I was born in Canada. It’s very hard to relate to the new immigrants in the last 10 years because we’re so different. The families that immigrated in the 80s and 90s had to assimilate and become “Canadian” which in hindsight was for the best. I learned about my culture and language at home, but my parents, emphasized the importance of being “Canadian first” and being a part of society and “fitting in.” This wasn’t at all a bad thing. I learned to ski, skate, make ice lollies with snow and syrup, went camping, played sports… I feel embarrassed when Indians are looked at in this light, but its true. 90% of this new wave of immigrants on “student visas,” dont intend to actually obtain any sort of an education, instead they use it as a pathway for permanent residency. I know this because I have relatives who say this out loud behind closed doors. I don’t agree with any of it, and quite frankly it’s very embarrassing, but most of us first generation Indian Canadians feel very upset about how its all played out and the negative light in which our people are now viewed under. Personally, I agree they arent interested in becoming culturally Canadian, they just want to be in Canada for financial reasons. They stay in their groups, dont integrate and think somehow this will play out well. It isnt discrimination when your own people also feel this way. This is why when you come to a different country you should try to assimilate. I am all four people keeping their culture alive. I wish as an American I had more of a culture. But for one you should learn to speak the language you can speak your native tongue also but you should also speak the language to the country you’re going to, and the driving issue I’m pretty sure is due to the way they drive in India there’s like no road laws and its insane driving. The thing that never seems to be brought up is East Indians 80% own houses. One thing that always surprises me is that a lot of immigrants actually don't like mass immigration. I worked with a polish lady who complained more than anyone about the amount of polish people. I've met a lot of Turkish people and a few of them weren't best pleased with the amount of turkish people, and in this video an Indian man says there's too much of it too. Its not an uncommon sentiment among immigrants that they specifically came here for a change in culture, only for it to follow them here. Specifically surrounding politics, a lot of them leave because of the politics where they were, only to find its just as much of a problem here because so many bring those problems over with them rather than leaving them behind. Just to clarify though while I think immigration is obviously a big problem in its current state, I'm not at all against the idea of immigration in general. I care more about where people are going than where they're from. Its just very odd when you hear a strong accented polish lady walk passed complaining and swearing about all the polish people. I guess it does make sense though, if i imagine desperately wanting to leave home for Australia, it would obviously be disappointing to arrive after packing up my life savings to find out all of the people and all of the things were exactly the same as back home. Pretty sad when you think about it.

Whats not fair is that they came here for a better life and now our quality of life has suffered. Schools all had to cut staff in half because when we cut funding and spots for people coming to our universitys they lost half thier income. Crime rate went way up. My city is really bad for human trafficking and aex trafficking. Many come to our city since it's far enough away to commit crimes. Many get 0 consequences because again..
