In the late 70s, when i was in high school, there was only one black guy in the whole school. He was a funny cool kid but how things have changed in such a short time eh ?.

I remember going to Canada in the late 70s early 80s and it was full of Japanese. I guess they got replaced.

Maybe it’s not too late if your government can figure out to modify some of the immigration laws that will give back the power, the benefit, and advantage to a natural born Canadian. 800 thousand foreigners coming in in the last three months? What’s with that? That’s so shocking. Looks like a legalized invasion/occupation. I’m like you, I was a legal immigrant from Asia in the late 70s retired now and love my great state of Indiana. My family has been here for almost 50 years fully acculturated to the values and culture of American life with my husband and two grown boys. This is my adopted beloved country now. I am everything that it is about. I still know how to speak my birth language only when I go home for vacation. I don’t use it even to speak to a fellow Asian when I see that an English speaking native born American is within ear’s reach. That young lady might be dead with brain tumor before she gets her MRI. That’s unacceptable. Here you go to the ER and if you need an MRI you get admitted and most like have it the next day. Or Y

Didn’t some Indian billionaire have a huge weeding in India way can’t he spread his wealth around ? we don’t need more Indians in Canada we have more then enough already my parents came to Canada in the 70s for there dr degree and had good jobs know people coming to study don’t really study just us it as a loop hole that’s the real problem. And they all go to Brampton Trudeau messed up immigration big time. The numbers of immigrants coming in is to high. They should have did this 10 -20 years ago to little to late. It's too late. The previous minster who made this big mass and now he is the Housing Minister. I have been voting Liberal since mid 70s but in this coming election, I will vote the irrespnosible LIBERAL PARTY out!!!! I have no confidence on them.

Why is Pierre afraid of the immigrant issue? I think - that they will all be labeled of being racists because they don't want other cultures and more people in the country. That's what it is. OR maybe - Conservatives are trying to figure out a plan to deal with this and aren't showing their cards at the moment. LIberals want the votes and more people to live off the government tit but we need more skills trades, more hands on - more doctors and nurses!! If the immigrants have that background and actually have the education and compassion then bring them in. If not, then sorry, there's no where for you to go. Part-time burger flippers, coffee pourers, cashiers, etc... are excellent jobs for teenagers to learn and earn money and move up from there. Back in the late 70s and 80s into the early 90s, retail jobs were an excellent supplement income for a family and or single person because it was worth it - today, not so much.

I remember in Alberta in the late 70s, hearing them being referred to as Packies because they would cram 4 families into 1 house. Also, it's probably an ethnic reference. \nI guess that's what the lady at the 10:20 mark was also speaking of when describing a house with 15 people living in it.

Yes. Canada is not like what used to be as a good country to immigrate to in mid or late 1970s. Unfortunately, job opportunities, salary, wages have not kept us with high cost of living in cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Also, road infrastruture have not kept 12:12 up with population growth. People should do research, check out more before immigrating to Canada these days. If you are moving to Canada for peace and political stability, then yes. Otherwise, think twice! Also, the requirement for Canadian employers to ask for Canadian experience has existed since at least the 70s. But it is absurd and stupid for employers to ask job applicants for Canadian experience since the world is highly interconnected through internet these days. Provided you are working in western world or English speaking countries, job functions and management styles are basically very similar whether it is high tech industry, banking, investment companies etc.

I lived in Toronto from '95-2000, 2003-2004, and finally from 2010-2019, and watching its slide has been terrible. But I'm old enough to remember what it was like in the late '70s when it was still functional and people had no yet become miserable. It's astonishing what greed and stupidity can do. Having lived in Calgary and on both coasts as well as Australia and Japan (where I'm on my second stint) I now see Canada as no longer designed as a home for citizens but rather a holding pen for the fleecing of inmates.

Toronto used to be a clean city in the late 70s and 80s. Not now. It's a trash city

Lived in TO in the late 60s and it seemed a clean and safe city. My brother-in-law lived in TO for about 50 years and loved the place. My wife used to visit him often in the 70s and 80s and she liked Toronto a lot. We went again in 2019 for my BIL's funeral and I thought the place was a dump.

I worked security in late 70s and I swear to God I never caught a black person they were all white and mostly well of too and yes I'm white we were also located across from low income housing so there you have it believe it or not it's true
