Judging by the comments Canadians seem desperate to imitate America's sovietized system... I used to be skeptical about "the myth of progress" but here we are

Hello Sir, with due respect: i am an international student from INDIA, you are always welcome to stay in any of the 30 provinces in India! My question to you is, if an International student is spending 7000 cad each semester and completing a 2 yr program with total fee paid 28000 to 35000 CAD excluding the exorbitant rent like 1500 per month and grocery and personal tax, would definitely wish to get back some of the money they invested here in Canadian land, am i right? Would you be thinking the same way if you invest in India? Secondly, none of the employers are offering any white collar job or office job to these students unless otherwise they have Permanent Residency status here in Canada: the only way to get “PR” is to work for some pizza store or tim hortons- its not by choice, only jobs you have here in Canada for any students and now construction field too. So kindly don’t judge any international student from any part of the world on their skills. All we need is a way out by Planning our future. Lots of comments are on these kids: just imagine on a sports day or a national holiday or on a stormy day who will be serving you a double double? Who will do Uber… Please dont hate, just like any human we would love to be respected and we are not going to take back anything from Canada. Thank you

From Poland. Arrived yo Canada at the end of 2020. I am nearing my 4th year here, in a small village. I arrived with my 6-year-old daughter to begin my writing career. Now, 40% of my daughter's childhood has been spent here and I I go to court soon to fight for my child to be returned home to me. After nearly one year- a year of financial hardship because I have to travel without a driver's license and without a group of friends to drive me- I have my very first hearing with a judge in Youth Court in a matter that has no foundation to begin with, follows no rule of law, and acts arbitrarily. My child whom I homeschooled to the praise of the provincial ministry of education and was following a classical liberal arts education path that had her outpacing students in the province was entrusted to the care of a Child Services company (that has a record of placements that have resulted in child murders). My child's life has been irrevocably upset to say the least. NO ONE LEAVING CANADA GIVES THIS STORY AS A RESON FOR QUITTING THIS COUNTRY. I guess no Canadians care about their children like I do my precious gift from God. True, O come from the former Soviet Union where Marshal Law (Emergency Measures Act) were commonplace. I lived through two in Canada in 4 years: one Federal, and one through Provincial Youth Court where I await my turn to see a judge after my daughter was removed from my care. People do not know they have no biological ownership of their children, because I guess few Canadians value their children to care about their own laws. But these laws also apply to immigrants too. What money was taken from me during the move and resettlement, the government takes by creating more expenses for me than I could ever imagine or budget for. Emotionally, I am a wreck. Rather than commencing my writing career, I have been seeking low-income lawyers, reading the provincial law on Youth Protection, filing complaints within a circular system (the watchdog is part of the system not outside of it) and preparing all evidence to prove I have done nothing wrong [just like in communist rule]. Have you ever given any thought to the difficulties in proving your innocence? \nNO ONESEEMS AWARE OF THIS DETERENT TO BRINGING CHILDREN TO CANADA. NO ONE. IT IS THE ONLY ONE I COULD NOT PLAN FOR. All other complaints like the economy, or the weather, or inflation I have survived. But taking away my child, my reason to settle in Canada for a life of freedom for her, my legacy, was unthinkable. People ask me in this small village where is my daughter. Their rosy cheeks become snow white when I tell them. Canadians here are unaware and scared like cattle in a thunder storm. Many are addicted to welfare payments, cannabis, prescription drugs, and television. They all seem to be waiting in a pen of fear. I am stuck here now, with little financial resource to fight for my child's life. It is unfortunate that no one will read my comment because it is an inscrutable wall of text or too frightening. Unless someone reads it, no help will come for my daughter. (Because she is a dual citizen, the local Polish Ambassador will not step in - another drawback for having a Canadian passport). A Sri Lankan who always gets misidentified as Indian reading the comments here. ? I moved here with the genuine purpose of studying for my LLM, after considering several countries. I was offered a scholarship from my university (a top ranking public university) I know several of my Indian colleagues who came to study & now work in universities & firms. I know educated people who came here from SL, India & other South Asian countries who came to study with the genuine purpose of studying & now pursuing PhDs here & elsewhere. I understand how concerned the whole immigration issue is for Canadians & new commers like us. I’ve always loved to study in Canada & now that I’m here just to see all these negative sides is truly heartbreaking. I was able to secure a decent apartment & decent job (both me & my husband)& so are my friends & colleagues. I love Canada & means no harm. I’d love to use my knowledge & serve developing countries like mine one day. I kindly request anyone reading my comment, please don’t judge. The only reason India is lacking behind is because of it's abundant population and it was not blessed with self rule up until 1947 which kind of derailed it's progress by years thanks to European Colonization and discrimination. \nJust as an example for folks who are ignorant to see India as a third world or poor or poorly run country - \n* The way India handled Covid for 1+ billion people is something close to impossible for Canada with a meagre population of around 40 million. \n* You don't have to wait for months or weeks for normal checkups, MRIs, doctors and so on. \n* You don't have to pay $50+ per month for a meagre 10-30gb data instead it's less than $4 per month for 1-2gb/day data (yes per day)\n* The military budget of India is 66 billion dollars while Canada's is a meagre 26 Billion dollars.\n* India is capable of launching advanced missions in Space and has single handedly indigenously created aircrafts to land in moon and space exploration.\n* India has home grown automobile companies like Tata Motors (which owns Jaguar and Land Rover), Mahindra and many more while I don't see any homegrown automobile companies in Canada.\n* India has more than 170 billionaires while Canada has around 70.\n* India's richest people won't even bother to invest in Canada because it's not a viable market, but the economy in India is booming and will continue to do so.\n* Despite the population the country is managing in such a way that Canada can only dream off. Just because you had the privilege and the means to be developed does not give you the right to demean other nations. It's really nothing that you did, it's just pure luck, right place, right time, white superiority, destruction and so on which enables you to live such privileged lives and now you are crying when people are actually working hard to provide some competition.\n\nDon't you think regardless of race or ethnicity, every human being deserves the best life? \n\nBefore you judge a country do some research. \n\nYes, the people in general have a different thought process where in prominence is not given to space, way of living, probably you can put it up as standard of living and the quality of thought process. But that's always the case with generalization. I know it's hard not to when you see it, but being a better human is all about thinking beyond that. Yes people in India are general prone to having a shortcut process, at the same time, highly skilled people are abundantly present. In the information sector and other highly skilled areas, they are present earning loads of money which reverberates to more tax money for the government. \n\nI know that they have major issue with absorbing the host country culture and I believe that can probably or maybe alleviated by having some cultural programs so that they can fit into the society so that the Canadian culture is upheld. It's always difficult to see changes around you and your home being in your words being raided by foreign entities. Guess what? The world is filled with different ethnic groups. Hundreds of years ago all your native homes were part of the indigenous people here and they didn't even have time to complain or lament online when the Europeans butchered them and massacred their homelands, claiming the land and setting up as their own. Now you are in a position to call something your home and we all know what all your ancestors did regardless of how good you are right now. The least you can do is not comment such provocatively online against other ethnicities or is this atrocity still there in your blood. It's very simple. Try to think beyond frustration and be grateful for what you have. \n\nBy the way I can write more but I don' think it's worth my time but maybe positive things can happen if you put your mind into.

It is a shame that this woman faced some ignorance, but the arrogance of trying to label all Canadians as white supremacists is sad to say the least. I am white and I faced a ton of racism growing up from the indigenous community in my home town. Did I call them all racists? No, what I, and many other Canadians did and still do is make the effort to learn about these other cultures rather than playing the victim and then slandering the good, hard working, tolerant people of Canada. If she has so many problems with racism in Canada, well as our lovely cousins to the south say, leave. After reading more of these comments I now realize my words would fall on deaf ears, so many victims here. I represent a large group of people who do not judge any by the color of their skin, but rather by the content of their character. Yes, I agree on some of the comments like; silent racism, cost of living and also about the dark history about Indigenous kids disappearance in catholic school.I know am 10yrs old but not too young to talk about it, same time I cannot ignore about what I see and experience (current affairs)! Every country have their pros and cons. Yes, USA might have better offers then Canada. I m not judging anyone or any country just sharing my experience’s For example: My family gad trip to windy City of Chicago US in December of 2022 with my parents and younger sister, before my visit I assumed that we will enjoy and have fun during trip but it was quite opposite “compared to what I see in Toronto” more homeless and addicts bullying pedestrians for money and when we had problem with ATM at bank the customer service was unfriendly and rude to us ( my parents having Asian background) people just degrade when they are from other culture: it is not fair to talk about Canada just because how a Country and it’s Governments works…. I am thankful being Canadian.
