I know what you're thinking 😁 See for the last couple centuries industrialized nations all over the world have been importing people like potatoes. And there is a very good reason for that. See over the last couple hundred years you have made many advances in technology medicine and law enforcement. The answer is economics, specifically capitalism and the welfare state. In order for capitalism to function the best for asset owners, the economy must continue to grow. Company revenues, stock prices, home prices, assets in general. Also, the welfare state needs to have more younger workers paying into the system to cover welfare services for the elderly retired population. Back in the 1950s, economists in Western countries realized their population demographics were inverting. Meaning, the elderly population was growing while the younger population growth rate was slowing down. This is the natural outcome of a wealthy educated society—the elderly live longer due to better healthcare and living conditions, and women tend to have fewer children as they spend more time in school and pursue a career, also families need fewer children compared to poor agrarian societies for various reasons. As such, these economists advised the politicians to increase immigration. This was the way to get more workers in your country to prevent a slow deflationary spiral by increasing consumption, and increase the tax base. Bonus if you bring in STEM workers as economies are becoming more dependent on tech. Anyway that's your answer.

No reason the population of this country should be more than 35M ppl. Canada should not be accepting a single immigrant until the population goes down to 35M.

I lived in Brampton for 25 years, so I would like to weigh in. We definitely have an extremely large indian population here. There are a lot of upsides and downsides to that. Some of my best friends are Indian immigrants, some of the people I hate the most are also indian immigrants. With any large group of people, you will always have examples of exceptionally nice people, but also horrible people. Something I noticed a lot recently is that newer immigrants are a lot less interested in learning about Canadian culture, norms, and integration. A lot of my longtime indian friends learnt the Canadian culture, Canadian norms, and wish to work with Canadians. They celebrate christmas, are respectful and polite, and are otherwise outstanding Canadian Citizens. A lot of the newer problems in Brampton can make it unattractive for others. Lots of loud music blaring, street racing waking you up at 4am in the morning, fireworks at 3am for no apparent reason, etc.

As an Indian myself who has lived for a total of 12 years in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) and given that almost 80% of the population is made up of expatriates, I have never truly faced such problems. I think the real reason why most are unhappy is because of a lack of discipline amongst the immigrants. Dubai may be more libertarian and tolerant toward other faiths than rest of the GCC nations but they don't tolerate any form of disrespect or indiscipline as they have very strict rules. I believe the locals and the immigrants can get along with each other if they respected each others' way of life.

There are more serious reasons, and the total number of temporary work permit holders as a percentage of the Canadian population is just a small fraction, while there is unemployment and crisis around the world, and the impact of Trump’s tariffs. If the Canadian government wants to limit businesses from hiring temporary work permit workers, they should set a quota for them. Businesses that cannot hire Canadian workers must leave those positions vacant. All companies like Tim Hortons, Metro, Farms, fast food shops, etc. should be banned from hiring temporary permit workers, and any company that hires more than 10% of its staff must be seriously fined. What no one discusses is how incredibly racist Canadians have been towards Indians for the past 100+ years. Small town Canada has never been welcoming to people of color so inevitably immigrants started creating enclaves where they feel safe. Why does every city have a Chinatown? How have Canadians treated Chinese immigrants for the past century? There’s a reason why Richmond and Vancouver have large Chinese populations - because they feel safe in numbers. As an educated Indian-American who now lives in Canada, it pains me to see my fellow countrymen dominating Uber, Uber Eats, Bicycle food delivery and Tim Hortons. No one uproots everything in their home country and comes all the way for this. Most of these people are here legally and they work really hard. A last word - leaving aside the Khalistan issue that has caused a wedge between Hindus and Sikhs - the Indian diaspora, especially the Sikh, are amazing in the amount of charitable work that they do. Their concept of seva is unmatched. No one goes hungry when there is a Gurdwara around, as there is always free nutritious food. Same is true for temples. Even a young poor Steve Jobs ate at Iskcon temples. Last point - while some of Canada's problems are because of excessive immigration, Canada would be nothing without immigrants. The population would decline, with a native fertility rate of under 1.4, and entitlement programs would be in deep trouble.

Can we have the Canadian President instead of ours? Both Canada and Mexico responds to the requests and demonstrate they are trying to be our allies and for some reason we still proceed into a trade war. I think there's an aspect of the tariffs where it's a tax that's not called a tax, where there will be reductions in taxes for the wealthy and then these tariffs are added taxes for the general population.

What no one is talking about is the fact that when the next census is done all these illegals will be counted and new congregational seat will be awarded to liberal states with increased population goving them an advantage in the House of Representatives. These conditions also leave populations susceptible to outbreaks of disease that US healthcare is ill-equipped to deal with. Unregulated immigration results in gangs taking control of both the illegal immigrants and the communities they settle in. Trafficked immigrants are forced to work for the gangs or their families back in their home countries will be harmed. Because of sanctuary cities, law enforcement can't go after the gangs so the other illegal immigrants have no recourse.\n\nTLDR: Regulated, legal immigration creates opportunities for both immigrants and the host country. Unregulated illegal immigration harms both immigrants and the host country. Laws exist for a reason.

I totally understand why a lot of Indians want to leave. Huge population, fierce competition etc so obviously folks want to escape. But the problem is locals in the western countries are being outcompeted for high skilled jobs. This is ON TOP of these jobs being MOVED to India. The reason for Indian visa being in the 81st rank is the number of people who want to migrate....other countries cannot allow lakhs of Indians who wish to relocate to their country....on the other hand, countries like Kosovo or Burkina Faso are tiny countries by population and have a very low rate of migration to other countries....Indian large-scale migration can be seen as a threat by other countries....

@3:30: Burkino Faso, Kosovo and Cuba have tiny populations. Even if their entire population migrated, the locals in the country receiving them would hardly notice any difference. Not so with India and its 1.5 billion population, many of whom want to migrate only because the neighbour's/aunt's/uncle's son also went abroad. Announce a liberal visa regime for Indians one day, and within a year, your country would start looking like Chandigarh or Ahmedabad. While most countries are ok with some diversity, no one wants to be overrun by foreigners, even if the foreigners in question are Indians who are generally law abiding and hard working. And then there are the 'smarter ' types who fake documents and produce bogus certificates to get visas and even pay human smugglers to take them abroad if their visas are rejected. It's for all these reasons why India's passport is ranked at 85. The only reason why India doesn't fall even further is because there are bigger basket cases like India's 'friendly' neighbors who are sitting tight below.\nIf India wants equitable treatment, it should first make itself the best place in the world for an Indian to live and work in. The more you rely on the others for visas, the more likely they are to refuse you.
