American here. My take? This is not about protectionism this is about isolationism. \nWhy would Trump want this? This is about becoming the first American dictator of the Western Hemisphere. \nHyperbolic? Nope. Trump controls the Senate, House, Doge, Project 2025 is in the White House, all the branches of the Defense Department, the Attorney General and his offices, six of the nine seats on the Supreme Court, and assigned over 250 Federal judgeships to the Federal courts which are a lifetime appointment. The ONLY thing that is standing in the way of Trump are the Federel judges that actually understand the constitution and do not want to destroy this nation. The fly in the ointment? Courts can issue an order based on the constitution or our laws, but does not have any way to enforce them if Trump should just disregard their order. That is how close we are to a dictatorship.\nWake Up America.?\n P.S. Sorry Canada! Coalesce, find new trade partners, and leave the United States behind. We are no longer worthy of your friendship.

Trudeau will leave office at least on a positive note in the way he responded to Trump and the moron MAGA mob. Americans will suffer and Canadians will enjoy witnessing the chaos.

Musk told someone an hour before polls closed that Trump was the winner, with his evil laugh and let's not forget Trump telling his supporters that they didn't need to vote cause he will win without them. That's fishy. \n\n\nY'all what do we do if he won't leave office? What do we do then? I know he just got in the White House but it's never too early to have a plan to get him out. They worked on Project 2025 for 4 years and now it's all falling into place. OMG! What are we going to do?

Trudeau, my brother, My words cannot begin to express to you or your people just how genuinely sorry I am for my country's utterly repulsive and inexcusable behavior throughout the last month and a half and for the downright cruel, hostile treatment you've suffered at the hands of the most incompetent, greedy, poorly educated, narcissistic, racist, sexist, xenophobic buffoon to ever preside over the United States. Not only is Donald Trump an overly privileged, pathetic, whiney crybaby who literally folds his arms, stomps his feet, and launches an all out temper tantrum whenever he doesn't get his way or when someone else has the TV remote, he is a dangerously delusional, high stakes risk taker who wouldn't think twice about using his own mother or child as a human body shield if he thought his life were in danger. There is absolutely no value, principle, moral or ethic he wouldn't betray without hesitation if he suspects there is anything at all to be gained - you know, the type of guy who would poison the entire neighborhood in order to hoard all the complimentary tampons and lip gloss samples from his neighbors' mail boxes just to ensure that he got first dibs on everything before anyone else. Incidentally, he is also the same type of guy who pockets all the flavored mini coffee creamers from the gas station and all the paper bed sheets and Qtips from the doctor's office. I wouldn't put it past him to steal the waitresses' tips off tabletops on his way out the door upon leaving McDonald's. In fact, I would bet everything that he steals the donation jars for Jerry's Kids at the local supermarket. I mean, its already a given that he is likely the guy who filed a lawsuit a few summers back against a sweet, innocent littls FOUR year old boy for having a lemonade stand on property not zoned for commercial use. If it wasn't Trump then I'm sure it's only because he was too busy ordering the National Guard to power hose and pepper spray the 30 or so elderly nuns who had been distributing bottled water to folks demonstrating in support of Black Lives Matter on the hottest day of the year. Satisfied in his victorious battle against the nuns - 9 of whom had been hospitalized for critical injuries including the 92 year old Mother Superior who suffered massive brain bleed, swelling and concussion due to the excessive force of the power hose and an 87 year old nun who lost permanent sight in one eye due to the pepper spray - Trump had the nerve to pose for a publicity shot in front of the church while holding a Bible - UPSIDE DOWN - and scrunching and contorting his face into that hideous trademark scowl he does ever so naturally. Yep. This is the man my fellow Americans chose to represent our nation as President - a man who beats up 90 year old nuns and imposes 25% tax hikes to our ONLY FRIEND in the entire world simply for refusing to accept his invitation for statehood. I mean, come on, Trudeau, is that really asking too much of you? Was it really worth bruising Donny's fragile little ego and sending him into a fit of rage? (Seriously, though, I suspect he really does feel as though you are in the wrong for refusing to humor his delusions and thus embarrassing him in front of all his Russian dictator and Ku Klux Klan buddies.)\nOnce again, I do humbly apologize and I promise I will support whatever actions you choose to take and I will help you in any way you deem is best. \nMuch love and peace always, \nMs. S. Wow Donald TRUMP is a horrible person. He somehow became President of the United States of America. I don’t blame people who believed his lies, but let us hope we can make it through his first year in office. Let us hope that our representatives, decide to stick up for democracy and not hang on Trumps coattails. I would hope they want to leave a legacy to better America and its people not drag us through the mud.

Trudeau should stay on until leader until Trump leaves office!

Justin Trudeau is a parasite...he caused 86% food inflation, causing millions of Canadians to have to rely on food banks, while Trudeau spent $81k of Canadian taxpayers dollars on groceries for himself this year alone...Trudeau underfunded Canada in relation to NATO, underfunded Canada in relation to NORAD, ticked off Trump by being rude to him in the past so that now Trump launches an economic trade war against Canada cause he just wants to hurt Canada to hurt Trudeau. Yes, Trump is an absolute economic imbecile as this trade war will cause Great Depression 2 in America and Canada (unless he invades which I think he will in some years) but the thing I hate the most about this is that Trump makes Trudeau look like the good guy in all this when Trudeau ruined Canada beforehand...all Trump needed to do was SHUT UP and let the Canadian perpetual liar LEAVE office...now we all pay the price for Trump's hatred of Justin Trudeau :(

Trump's moves are nothing more than stock market manipulation. He disrupts/shocks the stock market in order for the price of stocks to drop. He and his rich friends buy stocks at diminished prices and when he leaves office and prices rise, the rich get richer. Same games as he did during his first term.

These tariffs will pass. But the distrust that Trump has fomented will take years to overcome, long after Trump leaves office.

On behalf of all Americans with an active brain i do sincerely apologize for the dumb tariffs imposed by Trump and Musk and i hope that after Trump leaves office we can get someone who understands tarrifs and its effects and who will revoke this tariffs and restore the healthy America and Canada relationship once again.

When does Trudeau leave office? Canadians don't want him. Trump expects more effort at controlling immigration at the Canadian border which Trudeau has not done. He is the reason there is tariffs on Canada today!

We took in well over 5 million immigrants (documented and undocumented) over the past 3 years. Like New York, many of our cities are overwhelmed with this influx. We don't even have the resources to track down expired visas, overstays, or asylum cases. Last year our government admitted there was a problem and decided to start taking action. The biggest issue is people claim to be tourists with no intent of leaving. The Canada US border is far stronger than our international one.

When a US citizen is arrested, who picks up their kids from school. What about their trauma? You were in limbo the moment you decided to leave your country to break into the US. Tariffs would collapse Mexico's economy. Watch Trump slap 100% across the board on Mexico. The peso would drop like a rock. No one would buy ANYTHING from Mexico. American companies IN Mexico would leave Mexico due to the fact Trump is dropping regulations which killed their businesses under the democrats so they would return. Also ending the reliance on foreign oil will drop the prices for consumers even more so American made products would be cheaper and better made again. Most of the industry is automated as well but American jobs would return so China and Mexico who work together would be kicking rocks. Trump is winning and he isn't even in office yet ?

Why did Biden keep Trumps China tariffs ? Why is he adding more before he leaves office? Can anyone answer that question?

If she'd protect her border from invasion it would help tremendously just as the then president of Mexico did when Trump was in office the first time. She just leaves it wide open.

Our military today is a high-technology force with career professional officers and enlisted personnel. The U.S. military exists to defend the country in war or prepare for war against foreign threats. Trump could quickly hollow out the military as career experts leave. The military does not exist for civilian police functions. It is illegal and unconstitutional for the U.S. military to arrest civilians or enforce immigration laws. The American military is apolitical. No one swears an oath to any political leader but only to our Constitution. Mass deportations of undocumented people living in the United States won't be done with the help of the Army, National Guard, or other military services. The U.S. military does not have to follow illegal or unconstitutional orders. Military officers do not want to engage in civilian police functions or enforce immigration laws. Trump firing military officers would hollow out the military, likely destroying our readiness to fight future wars.

You want to talk about mass deportation. Then literally look at a President Obama. He deported more people than Trump. He literally got rid of wet feet dry feet Cuban policy before leaving office. But he did it quietly so nobody talk about except for the Latino community that still remembers.\n\nYou guys think President Trump will beat President Obama’s record this second time around? I mean statically since we have an open boarder it looks likely.\n\nAt least this time we see it coming versus the last time with President Obama.

People still don't realize the tanked economy that was handed over to Biden. Now Trump's going to do it again and several different Fashions to where he leaves this office 4 years later with such a f***** up economy and a f***** up deficit. last time Trump was in the office and as a way to thank Jesus, Trump did make it so 1M died by defunding healthcare and say covid was just a myth and later sade it was just a mild flu. There's a Home Depot across the street from where I work. Migrants go there hoping to get chosen by people who need a few men for work. In a month, it went from about 20 men to about a good 150 men just loitering in the parking lot. The police were called.
