Canada’s immigration system is being exploited by many international students, temporary workers, illegal immigrants, and even tourist visa holders. IRCC is now granting repeated extensions on tourist visas. Why are they allowing these extensions? What are these individuals expected to do in Canada for years? Many tourist visa holders have been in Canada for several years — not necessarily because they refuse to leave, but because IRCC keeps extending their status. Some of these individuals end up working illegally, taking jobs from Canadian youth and citizens, and adding pressure to the housing market. The increasing numbers of asylum claimants, international students, temporary work permit holders, tourist visa holders, and undocumented individuals are placing strain on Canada and its citizens. IRCC needs to strictly follow the law and enforce regulations. If not, Canada’s immigration system will continue to be exploited, and abusive individuals or even criminals could find it easier to enter the country.

I worked with a guy that was abusing the system and didn't even hide it. He said to me I'm on a student visa I'm supposed to be going to school but I'm not and then he laughed about it and I got pissed. I said something about it and I told my boss he's not even supposed to be working here and my boss told me to mind my business. That's what's going on in Canada. I’m a proud Indian who is now a Canadian citizen, and I’ve made a conscious effort to assimilate into Canadian culture and values. What bothers me is how this conversation has been reduced to blaming one group. The reality is that the Canadian government failed first by not properly managing immigration volumes, not enforcing document verification, and not honestly assessing whether the country could support such rapid population growth. That policy failure created pressure on housing, jobs, and social systems long before resentment followed. We also need honesty within the Indian community. Some Indians struggle to adapt being overly loud, culturally rigid, and sometimes lacking empathy for Canadian norms and shared public spaces. I studied Canadian and Indigenous history in school, and respecting that history matters. Assimilation doesn’t mean abandoning your culture, but it does mean understanding and respecting the society you chose to join. Cultural education should be expected, not optional. That said, one Indian doing something wrong does not make all Indians bad. Most Indian students and workers I know are hardworking, punctual, and serious about contributing. I’ve personally worked minimum-wage jobs for years, and what I noticed was not jobs being “taken,” but fewer Canadian youth willing to stay in or commit to these roles long-term. Indians didn’t replace Canadians, they filled vacancies that already existed. I also briefly volunteered helping the homeless, and what I saw was honestly shocking. It’s not that the government isn’t trying to help there are rehabilitation programs and support systems in place. The difficult truth is that a significant portion of the homeless population struggles with substance abuse and refuses treatment because it requires giving up drugs. Over time, homelessness itself starts to function like a culture, where benefits and assistance unintentionally enable continued substance use rather than recovery. This is an uncomfortable reality people don’t like to talk about. None of this is simple. Immigration didn’t break Canada, and neither did one community. Poor policy, weak enforcement, lack of accountability, and refusal from governments and individuals to adapt responsibly is what brought us here. Blame is easy. Honest solutions are not.

Mortgage fraud has also increased DRASTICALLY since the influx of new immigrants coming to Canada within the last 10 years. And who is doing the fraud? 95% of the fraud cases are new immigrants from India. There are many good people that come from india, but there are FAR more than don't assimilate, have no interest in ever assimilating, and they abuse our social systems, stealing from every Canadian as well as cause our quality of life to drastically drop. Our healthcare systems are beyond overloaded and bursting at the seams, our housing prices have skyrocketed, our house and auto insurance rates have also gone through the roof. And speaking of going through the roof, numerous houses were lit on fire late last year from new immigrants irresponsibly lighting off MASSIVE amounts of fireworks during Diwali, then you have the crowds of Indian families going to our previously pristine beaches and digging pits, which they then proceeded to use as their bathroom. People were actually selling "Beach $hitter" t-shirts because the problem was getting so common. Immigration is ok, but the amount of people the Canadian government has allowed into Canada, ALL from totally different cultural origins, in such a short amount of time was never, and will never be sustainable. In my opinion, Canada needs to full stop close its borders to anyone immigrating for at minimum 5-10 years, to allow the countries infostructure time to catch up with the masses of people who have already come into the country. Canada has a very good immigration system that benefits the Canadian economy (point system), then there are a few bypasses that completely ruins it to grease the pockets of a few and gain cheap votes(students pipeline, abuses of family reunification, fake "refugees", ...).

There is a code of silence which does not always come from inside Canada. It's the code on how to take advantage of a countries blindness by abusing it's Government financial Immigration and Refugee programs. 1. Make a claim, any claim as it will take years before Canada figures out your claim is false. If all does not go well, have a baby on the land. This way you can't be deported and the Canadian government will give you more money because you have a child. There are many more but I will not write them to place them into the open world but there are many more tactics of abuse, Student Visa is but one of them, the next is Migrants. If you are not near the system but you listen closely to the stories, you will hear the real truth and you will also hear the underground truth which people speak about behind closed doors.

I was the lawyer invited to this interview, and after reading some comments celebrating the end of the PEQ, I feel the need to clarify a few things. The people affected by this are not “abusing the system.” this was the program for people that came here legally and are working. To qualify for the PEQ, they had to be working full time, they pay taxes, they speak the language. They’re fixing our roads, keeping hospitals running, welding, machining, doing the jobs most of us take for granted every single day. The hard truth is that Canadians have stopped having enough children, and we simply don’t have enough young people with the skills to fill these roles. Yes, we absolutely should invest more in education and trade programs for our youth — my employer clients are begging young people to become mechanics, welders, skilled workers, often in the regions. Most don’t take those jobs, and even when they do, training takes two to three years. Our industries need people now, or parts of the economy will stall, and that affects all of us as Quebecers and Canadians. These workers are not asking for charity. They are already on the front lines keeping key sectors alive. Ending programs like the PEQ doesn’t punish “illegals” or “free riders”; it punishes people who are already integrated, working, and contributing to the society we all share. Also, all they are asking is for the new rules to not be applied to them retroactively, only for those coming new into the country, otherwise it is rug pulling those already here that played by the rules, and when the government does it to us we don't like, on principle of fairness, whatever you think of the numbers, too high too low, doesn't matters, it is the least we can all get behind as humans.

Those who wanted to immigrate to Canada found it easier and faster to immigrate through Quebec than through Canada in general. This was due to the French language requirements in order to increase the number of French speakers. I'm a filipino PR. I used to work at Subway. My white canadian manager was nice and hiring whoever is qualified, even young students. Sadly, he was transferred and got replaced by a indian manager. Now he only hires indian. My fellow co-workers who were indians as well are mad at him. Not all indians are bad, but others are really abusing the system. I left that place. Best decision.

It is so unfair. I strived for about 10 years saving, learning English, investigating, studying something relevant. Achieved to arrive in Canada from Mexico in 2022. And now all these mor0n$ from India putting us all in bad word as students. They don’t attend classes, they cheat, abuse AI, steal other’s school projects. Total waste of air. The real problem is not just people, it’s the Canadian immigration system and the loopholes IRCC has left wide open. In Punjab and other parts of India, wealthy families are arranging marriages where a girl with IELTS comes to Canada, then calls her husband here. Many of these are nothing more than contract marriages, where once the boy arrives, they go their separate ways. This is blatant abuse of the system and has created a wave of people entering Canada without even basic English skills. IRCC needs to wake up and fix this. Students on study or work visas must not be allowed to bring their spouses. If someone wants to come, let them take an English test themselves and prove they’re qualified. Study permits should only be issued for genuine university students, not random private colleges being used as back doors into the country. On top of that, no work permits should be given while on a study visa. Employers who hire students illegally on cash as cheap labour should face strict penalties, heavy fines, and blacklisting. Until these loopholes are closed, Canada’s immigration system will continue to be exploited and lose credibility. IRCC, this is not immigration — this is fraud facilitated by weak laws.

When I legally arrived in Canada with PR, Indian people were all happily telling me how they worked the system to not have a long wait like I did. They are even abusing the spousal visa and getting paid in excess of 50k to marry another Indian person and bring them over.

as a refugee myself from Afghanistan, I know a lot of fellow refugees and immigrant who works for cash, abuses the system, don't pay taxes, if they are manager-they hire only immigrants and people they know, they think this way they will have a better life in Canada, but in reality they are fucking the economy and not thinking about its consequences in the long term. I assume most of them will wait no minute to go back to their home country once the economy in Canada crumbles. I feel really bad about this kind of behaviours and I feel ashamed.
