There are more serious reasons, and the total number of temporary work permit holders as a percentage of the Canadian population is just a small fraction, while there is unemployment and crisis around the world, and the impact of Trump’s tariffs. But immigrants are seen as the black sheep and blamed for everything in all agendas of both parties. If the Canadian government wants to limit businesses from hiring temporary work permit workers, they should set a quota for them. Businesses that cannot hire Canadian workers must leave those positions vacant. All companies like Tim Hortons, Metro, Farms, fast food shops, etc. should be banned from hiring temporary permit workers, and any company that hires more than 10% of its staff must be seriously fined. Is it difficult to do? Too easy.

i am surprised to see so many canadian idiots still endorsing this clown. Trump imposes tariff today for a reason -- this clown simply has inherently different philosophy and that is the reason Canada is punished today. Set aside right or wrong from the US side, a truly responsible leader should mitigate damage instead of soliciting them, and seek ways out instead of putting oil on fire.

Trump's goal is to start an actual war with anyone who'll have it, including our closest neighbors and allies. The reason is that wartime presidents have more power and he doesn't care who stands in his way. He's going to use that power to detain journalists and jail political opponents ahead of the midterms claiming them to be traitors, then he's going to set himself up to run for a third term. If he succeeds, he'll have total control. Democratic leaders will be in jail, journalists will be silenced, and the national guard will forcefully search your home for any second amendments you might have lying around as they deliver our ballots at gunpoint. How do I know? Because that's what tyrants do. The US is in the midst of a political coupe and it's imperative that the situation be viewed from that paradigm. Drop any pretense that this administration is anyone's ally, they're not. They're a rogue administration attempting to seize total control of the US.

I think Trumps secret plan is to bankrupt USA because its in the interest of Russia. I have come to believe he is a secret Russian spy put in place to destroy as much as he can. The reason is that Putin has some kind of dirty secret on him that he desperately does not want to come out or That he owes him a lot of money and the Russian mob will kill him if he does not follow the plan Russia have set in motion. If the US does not wake up he will sell their country.

The only reason Trump set tariffs on Canada is because he would look like a racist if he only did it to Mexico. I have a feeling soon Trump will lift the tariffs on Canada citing that Canada has complied with his requests. He will keep the tariffs on Mexico though.

Trudeau resigned as prime minister because he was deeply unpopular in Canada. He proceeded to suspend parliament while President Trump threatened these Tariffs and then immediately left to Europe to posture with European leaders. He did absolutely nothing to strengthen the US/Canadian relationship while his party set about appointing (not electing) a new leader. Trudeau is an actor and a hypocrit. Do not believe anything he says. Now I don't agree with President Trump's tariffs on American allies like Canada. I don't understand the metrics he's using to justify them. Maybe there is a real reason, but this fool that you're listening to has not represented Canada faithfully and I reject everything he says.

Dear Mr. President Trump, would you please reconsider welcoming these wonderful fellow North Americans living in these TEN Canadian Provinces, not as the 51st State, but as TEN States, when being invited into the United States of America? These Canadian Provinces being Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.\n\nSuggested is to make Canada’s existing 10 Provinces into 10 individual United States States. Canada will benefit with a strong 10 State influence within 60 United States governance affairs. Benefits are 10 more States on a balanced display welcomed as 10 white stars within the beautiful United States of America field of Blue of our Flag. Other countries will see North America’s Great Power when 60 glorious States, when combined, and working well together, communicating best when communicating with each other only in English, when English is the United States official National Language. As for 10 Canadian States, think of the  benefit of 20 mostly conservative thinking U.S. Senators which equals a larger majority of conservative votes in the larger U.S. Senate when composed of 120 Senatorial political leaders. 120 U.S. Senators keep the Filibuster procedure balanced. 10 Canadian Provinces converted into 10 United States States equals many more conservative House of Representatives votes enhancing the conservative majority of political leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives. So many good reasons why Canada’s 10 Provinces, with a mostly conservative thinking population of thinkers, should be transformed into 10 new United States States, not just one United States. Yes....10 more States that is the helpful way forward for the United States to have a very dominant conservative thinking population of United States Congress Political Leaders, resulting in a long term more stable United States Congress representing 60 United States, thinking more conservative, thinking more logical, thinking more common sense thoughts, thinking more capitalist job creation thoughts, thinking more tax cut thoughts, are just some of the benefits of having 60 United States of America States on  display, and functioning efficiently going forward for all the World’s Countries to marvel at.

Trump is setting the stage for China to replace the USA as a key export partner to these tariff threatened nations. All it would take is China to accept delivery of products impacted by US tariffs at the pre-tariff price. China wants better S American commerce and these tariff threats provide the opportunity for China to swoop in and save the day. If I lead China I would be phoning every nations leader personally guaranteeing to do just that before another threat came out of Trump. While it might cost China in the short run, seeing the world wide collapse of the USA's economic influence in favour of China would serve them well.\nFor the last century the USA has learned to played reasonably well with others, shedding off most of its protectionist policies in favour of cooperation and negotiation. This made it a strong economic nation that individuals wanted to become citizens of. Nations trusted the USA, but in just a few days under Trump that century long journey to world leadership has been fully undermined.\nThe most known Statue Of Liberty quote of “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” was the old America, a much different time than today. The poem under Trump's policies should read “Take our tired, our poor, our huddled masses yearning to escape persecution”.

The process is not the same as it was in the 80s when they did not require renewal every couple yrs w high $ and rules to return to home country for a set amount of time risking losing your home/job/business etc. Some renewal process for green cards have sped up but still takes 6-1yr and a new green card renewal and new one for Mexico can take 1-3yrs for approval. So someone that’s been here +20yrs will have to leave everything they have built here to go wait quite a long time. Its not if you agree how they got here, its what they have done in our country since being here. They add to our economy, +80% pay taxes to never get any of those benefits and they open businesses employing people etc. If they have been here committing a list of crimes then no i don’t agree but majority of immigrants don’t do that. I agree our border needs protection and security. Majority of the left do agree w that but gop don’t want solutions they want to just shut it down completely and thats not right. We have always been a country of opportunity and growth for everybody. If we had a good border bill that they could all agree on fe border act was bipartisan til Trump didnt want to “give dems a win” which it would have given more $ for more judges to help speed up the process for asylum cases and put more agents on the border and more security at checkpoints which is where most fentanyl is caught. Ignorant republicans like boebert sharing the story of a big fentanyl bust at the border her reaction was “we need border security now!” Like who does she think caught that? Border security she think we dont have i guess. But there are alot of things that could be helped and sped up if we just had politicians that could agree, you have bipartisans that support then you have the handful like trump is the puppet master that shuts good things down for partisanship reasons. It’s sad bc the people are tired of this divisive behavior. To run on a problem instead of solutions!
