As an American I am afraid of my government. Our future is bleak and uncertain. I can not do anything due to me being 1 person. I am 1 voice, but no one wants to protest, instead people want to sit and accept it. I do not want this, and I struggle because of the political BS because people are stupid. I do not have the money to relocate my family or I would. This has become a sad and dark part of US history.\nThese tariffs were a result of Ukraine and Trump having an ego trip. Nothing less.\nI will always support my fellow Americans, but there's only so much I will support. I will always support Ukraine Canada and Mexico.

What Trump is doing is collecting money from these tariffs, while at the same time bringing certain industries back to the United States. These tariffs will not be permanent but will remain for a certain period to encourage companies to relocate. He runs his country like a business, he doesn’t care if there are job losses elsewhere.\n\nCanada and Mexico will have to adjust and start becoming less dependent on the United States. It will be difficult for Canada because we are a consumer country, we manufacture almost nothing. TSMC is moving to the U.S., his plan is working, and other companies will follow.\n\nHere in Canada, we import a huge amount of American products. We absolutely need to change our habits, we should not support a country that wants to see us fail.

Why is this dude still representing Canada? \n\nTwo months ago many of his key cabinets members resigned because Justin’s policies are destroying Canadians. Rightfully, he resigned. Dude needs to go away. Stop making Canada worse than what it has become under his horrendous leadership.\n\nThings happening:\n\nThe massive influx of foreigners, both legally and illegally into Canada.\n\nAffordable housing for native Canadians do not exist, people are leaving the country.\n\nHi mortgage payment or monthly rent are too high.\n\nFood prices are not coming down.\n\nSalaries are not keeping up with inflation.\n\nThe Canadian dollar keeps tanking.\n\nAs the leader of the country, he’s doing nothing to stop increasing violent crime.\n\nIncreasing amount of drugs in cities and suburbs.\n\nFinally, he’s pledging billions of dollars to Ukraine, when that money is needed at home.\n\nJustin is too emotional to deal with Trump.\n\nTrump complains about the trading balance between the two nations, $100 billion in favor of Canada.\n\nThe request is simple, import more American products, or export less products to America. But the imbalance has to stop.\n\nSame with Mexico, trading balance with Mexico is almost $200 billion in favor of Mexico. The imbalance has to stop. \n\nThe US economy is bleeding by trading with allies and partners, it’s fighting for its financial wellbeing. It is not some bs from the orange man, it is real.\n\nOf course Canada, Mexico, Europe and others want business as usual… and why wouldn’t they? ?

Trump is nothing less than an employee of Putin.

When will the Western leaders wake up, they still talk about friends. Trump is not a friend. Trump looks up to Dictator and it is clearly his big dream to make the US the same type of regime, he does nothing but tell the less intelligent Americans that Putin etc. are not the bad guys, they need to get used to the idea that that type of regime is a good thing. So it is easier to try to maintain power

I see this as nothing less than Trump wanting to do to Canada a slightly more palatable version of what Putin is doing to Ukraine. Trump has openly said he wants Canada to become the 51st state, even though this is a huge ask as Canada has a population larger than any US state (California is close in population size), Canada has a land mass nearly the size of the US and, including water mass, Canada has a larger overall area than the US. Trump also wants Iceland to be owned by America. He has become power crazy during a war because this is his only chance to stoke his ego to undreamable levels. Trump wants to be America's Putin.

Dumbass Donald has never been concerned about anyone or anything but himself. He knows nothing and he IS nothing! \nHe is nothing but a creation of his father Fred Trump and the evil Roy Cohn. He squeaked in with less than two percent \nof the vote. If Wolf Blitzer is from Buffalo NY he should come up to Ottawa and see for himself. Its nice this time of year!

This has nothing to do with Canada or the Canadian people. This is a pure transactional move because that is how Trump sees things. He needs the money to finance his agenda and he has been told that the money does not exist in terms of what the US Congress can provide. They won't cut military spending and they wouldn't dare touch SS or Medicare. Therefore, Trump is resorting to the only available option which is to have the American people pay for it all and that is what he is doing with these tariffs. He doesn't need to worry about reelection so he couldn't care less how much pain he is inflicting on the very people who voted for him. Elections have consequences.

It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. If we want this to turn into a real kinetic war, then turning off the taps may do it. \n\n We have seen countless times where politicians tell us what we want to hear, making us think they are heading is a certain direction, only to find they do the exact opposite. This proves you can not believe what career politicians say and have to go by what they do, or don’t do, instead. Yet now, they confidently declare that Canada will never become the 51st state. This should raise eyebrows. \n\n Almost all of the MPs and Premiers are unanimous in entering into a trade war we can not win. I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. This is NOT about fentanyl. This NOT about money and how much each country was giving whom. We had a respectable trade deal that we were following, previously signed by Trump. We have always had a positive relationship together, business-wise and friendship-wise. Please also realize that, once your administration is no longer in control of our narratives in such a destructive manner, or it gets replaced by one that reverses this destructive policy, we will definitely reconsider our former relationship and we will work towards rebuilding it. \n\nIt is unfortunate for both sides here. We are aware of that. But “Canada Strong” is our way to remain forever a sovereign and free nation. Nothing more, nothing less. Always remember that.

An american living in Germany. The Canadians were (and are) my neighbors. I grew up in Maine, and no one one should piss off Canadians, it can only go bad. But EXACTLY that is what trump wants, that everything goes bad. It is not only going bad, everything is going to shit, my fellow americans are too stupid to notice or care. The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the US Government is no longer a friend to the free world.

Canada's only got a 63,000 soldiers that isn't enough to protect Maryland let alone Canada we get billions of dollars to protect a foreign country and never asked anything in return Donald Trump ask Canada to help secure the border on Canada side and they are complaining throwing a hissy fit it would be one thing if Canada was providing for itself without the United States. Please....Canadian borders account for less than 1% of the total people trying to get into the US. Over 99% come across the southern border. This is official accounting. Fox News is not a good source for this information. You make it sound like Canada had nothing in place until Trump came along and thousands of people are coming through Canada.

This is clearly the product of decades long failed immigration practices and has nothing to do with the housing crisis Trump created. Theres more jobs being created now than ever with less people willing to or qualified to take them. The problem is also that most of the jobs available now are such garbage that even the immigrants dont want them.

On the serious side now. What if you lived in a country that was so poor you barely could live. Now what if you were a family man who couldnt provide for your loved ones. if i were mexican i would do this too. i'm from africa and i lost friends to the mediterranean because they were willing to go all or nothing for a better life. there's significantly less risk for mexicans so it was obvious this will happen. trump's wall suddenly doesn't sound so stupid now huh
