As an American who was born here and live here for over 50 years, I am so ashamed of this government, the republican politicians and some of the democratic politicians. I was a soldier, was deployed and thought I was fighting for Canadian values. Now I sit at home and watch as my country crumble down around me. I'm a wounded/mildly disabled Vet. I got wounded again back in Canada by getting my leg stabbed/slashed. I waited 4 years for imaging, and routinely have to wait 2 weeks to see a doctor for a 5 minute visit. Bombed-out roads in Syria are no worse than the pothole-infested streets. Under the streets, we have failing water mains.\nOur current government has no compass, we have no direction and our priorities are random and trivial. I have started referring to our country as Can'tada due to the seemingly endless things we can't seem to do.

Things are so bad for disabled and poor people like myself here in the UK that I've been thinking about leaving for another country, despite knowing I'd lose what little income I DO have. But after watching this, I know not to go to Canada. Throw in the how the weather affects my health let alone the economic situation and its a big no. I'd probably die within a week.

I lived in canada for past 35 years. I am married with 3 kids. I work like a dog 60 hrs a week , i pay heavy taxes on my salary soo the government can give away hard tax payers money to people who scam the system. Examples are walfare and ontario works. I know people that get $1350 minimum on odsp and they are more than capable of working but choose to scam the sysytem collect free money and work cash jobs for less money and take away jobs from others. Hate this country now and cant wait to leave and shift else where were i can happily retire and watch my kids grow up and spend time with my family since everything in canada is soo expensive i have to work overtime and my wife also started working part time?

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. Getting ill causing a month long stay in the ICU left me homeless as living paycheck to paycheck causes once the cheques stop , I was placed in a Toronto homeless shelter 3 years ago and I can tell you that African refugees enter a shelter and no more than 3 weeks later are housed usually 5 at a time all Getting a fully paid market value 1 bedroom apartment average price $2,600 monthly that with a monthly welfare cheque and free food dental medical prescriptions clothing WIN WIN WIN the Canadian born homeless shelter residents get put on a 38,000 name waiting list for Ontario's drug infested housing ghettos the Africans are being housed under a kept secret program called COHB secret from us Canadian homeless that is and I've witnessed this now at 5 different shelters I've been in, having befriended one of the African migrants who is a little unstable drinking alcohol and smoking pot so he hasn't been housed but he has shown me the paper work that has been housing his fellow illegal immigrants and I say illegal because they all came as visitors only to claim asylum as soon as they land he also told me they all borrow the money for their plane tickets from a gang who once they land and start instantly getting welfare have to send half the proceeds back to this gang in Africa for the next two years , in this shelter donated clothing comes in everyday and two African shelter residents fold and sort the clothing taking all the name brand clothes what they didn't hand out to the other Africans they walk to the post office and ship it back to Africa I'm not making this shit up after we complained to staff which also happen to be made up from the Africans themselves yes they've hired wolves to watch over the other wolves so they now aren't walking out the front door everyday with garbage bags full of clothes at least not in front of our eyes DON'T CALL ME RACIST I know that's the go to word when this insanity is made public , what do you think is the first thing these Africans do when they walk into their free apartment? International students ARE NOT driving up home prices or rent...that's a supply/demand issue (plus the lack of control government has on landlords and how much they can charge for a specific unit) and it's also a foreign buyer issue (yes Chinese foreign buyers, who buy homes in Canada but never move-in and use it as the home as a savings account). Not the international students problem, when the government of Canada DEMANDS THESE STUDENTS NOT WORK FOR MORE THAN 20 HOURS A WEEK and then watches them struggle to pay for rent (and therefore have to live 2 or 3 to a room)...yeah, don't blame the students. BLAME THE GOVERNMENT for bringing these students here, handicapping them by limiting their work hours (minimum wage at that) and then turning around and blaming them for why homes are ridiculously expensive and rent is unaffordable. Yeah, don't blame the government for it's inability to build homes...don't blame the government, instead, blame the minimum wage international student...it's going to be interesting if this actually brings DOWN rent prices and home costs. I’m American from New Jersey my husband is from Alexandria Egypt we have a house there that his parents lived in until they passed away we use to go for 6 weeks every couple years last time we were there was about a yr before she passed now his sisters just watch over our. House I told my husband I kinda wanna sell it and buy a better one cause it hurt me when we went the last time to be in my bedroom because I knew that was my father in law’s favorite place he could go in and shut everyone out but losing his ma I don’t think I can handle going in there now

i'm watching this while booking overtime because I can't make it on 40 hours a week. Its a real problem. Government waste abounds, Aboriginals just got a 23 billion payout this year. I am one of those after and 33 years in Canada .I am 70 years old and still working to make living. Last week I watched our government meeting. They want to help Canadian citizens help with heating expenses with heat pump. Just think how long will be to install to each house heat pump? ( first cost and Canadian climate no works anyway)No one this people didn’t say we are oil country just built refinery and make heating cheaper. On thanksgiving I was sick and go to the emergency in Winchester hospital and after 2 hours waiting the nurse told me today is waiting time to see doctors is 12 hours and I went home. A lot of people are definitely NOT okay with working 40 hrs a week(not counting unpaid lunches) for basically pennies, only having 2 weeks per year minimum for any paid time off and having to live paycheck to paycheck just to have a roof over their heads. They probably don’t appreciate losing their jobs for trying to form unions to advocate for the slaves who can’t even afford to get their car or house fixed, while watching spoiled rich kids living in luxury online and they probably wish their government would take a stand against these corrupt, rich people.

I watched a news reel this week about drug addiction and poverty and I could not believe how extensive the ‘downtown down-and-out’ areas were in many cities in EVERY state. I can’t believe how the governors of certain states are focused on attacking LGBTQ issues, controlling women’s health, allowing anyone (regardless of their mental health and past criminal behaviour) to buy guns- lots of guns, guns that only armed forces or law enforcement would require. Why aren’t they focused on the huge hollowing out of their cities due to drug addiction? It’s a bizarre country - certainly not a 1st world country anymore.

Although, I love here in BC Canada, but good to speak out truth! thank you for your true and reliable facts sharing. I agree every country has issues and here everything is slowly improving too, but it is frustrating to watch such problems that are solved in most least developed countries a decade ago. You can see someone sobbing from pain and yet to wait a week for doctor (feels to me meeting butchers :)). You can see many surgent and talented Intern/Indian doctor, experts and engineers doing labor work, are not they even capable for general basic services?! Solutions and resources are a lot but no body pick them up! as if it is a concession force not to. Say more about diversity but less inclusion of Asians.

As a young, white, childless male, I doubt you would be affected by most of the reasons people who visit and know the US here in Canada would think of. Most of my friends are in the US and I livestream with them 5 nights a week, and every time a ma ss shooting is reported, we hear about it and suffer along with you too. \n\nFACT: The number ONE cause of death for children and teens in the US is Firearm related, so gun deaths. Yes it's true, and there isn't a single friend of mine who isn't scared to express an opinion, or send their kids and grandkids to school or Uni. wherever they live in the US. Statistically speaking, almost every citizen in the US is going to know someone who is un-alived by gun violence. We have strict gun laws here, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

Latin here, I came here legally but I can tell you that it was difficult as hell for my mom to bring me here, it took money and years for that, but I want you as a fellow citizen to understand their situation first, in Latin America you could be graduation from college and even with that having a good job it’s difficult sometimes, unlike here education in Latin America is not always something that all people can get and every time they vote for someone it becomes more trashier, housing for the poor doesn’t even exist, half of the country is corrupt and going outside you don’t who you may find, my brother needs to wait 7 years to become a resident (not citizen) he will be 30 something at that point, what the government should do is make the residency easier and I can tell you something like this wouldn’t occur that easily, my mom is a lawyer in my country and I can tell you the situation wasn’t easy, every three times a week there would be shooting outside my house, drug dealer was my neighbor, and at the age of 15 there would parents of two kids the sad part all this is normal, stopping it is imposible because it gets you kill, the police will kill you for doing a peaceful protest just to stop feminicide, wanting your kid to go outside without being scare something would happen to them, this people want peace and a job that is it and when your own country doesn’t even give you the right for that how could you live? Latin America is like living in the worst state in U.S multiply by 1000 and happening the same thing every day, riots or protest are imposible there because you know the police will never go the peaceful way, what this people are doing is wrong but they just want to live, it even surprise how much people hate their president here when in Latin America there hasn’t been any good president in decades. Before someone tells me something, like I say what they are doing is wrong and it’s painful to watch, something should not be happening in the first place but it is happening and I hope the situation gets better but like I say before saying something disrespectful or out of place to these people, understand their situation first

If you don't say that we should bring everyone of those people in here and put them in a hotel and pay for thier food and shelter your a freaking racist. I swear I mean take the shirt off your back america I mean off the backs of the homeless vets. I mean what the hell did they ever do for this country. I mean these people are willing to jump through barbed wire to get free well everything what did anyone here do to deserve anything here. ? I mean they are going to pay so many taxes I'm sure it will probably balance the budget and America won't default and continue to fall into a recession. I mean what we need is hundreds if not hundreds of thousands of undocumented people here eating our taxpayers dollars. Cmon isn't that the American way. Work hard all your life to give it away to some illegal who came here. Nothing makes me more proud than watching the govt take all my shit and give it to people who are really worthy of it. Who come from countries where thier govt makes it almost impossible to live so I would happily give all my material possession away to help like 9 or 10 Mexicans. Granted my house burnt down last week but the shirt on my back it's all yours I don't even need it in most states and local convience stores below the state of Virginia. What we need in this country is voters too. I mean all the people who died of covid who's going to fill the voter polls if the democrats don't give these refugees a free life. I'm certainly not going to sit around and let the govt tell us that we need a wall to stop anyone from going anywhere. I mean walls. They are just going to hop and a boat and come right over. Granted you may have to go through customs but that's what I'm saying you need to be able to go and do what ever you want in any country at anytime. Who's to tell me where I can and can't roam on planet earth and what govt agencies will or will not provide me with care for my unborn child. We need a revolution and it start with walls. I'm going to start with my bedroom wall. And work my way up the ladder. I say no to all walls. Even the ones in swimming pools. I say if your a red blooded patriotic American you need to start planning a trip to the border to tear down that exist racist wall that is keeping those south Americans, Chinese, Russian, and Romanian refugees from coming here with ease. The cartel may not be happy with this but we need to make sure that every person from any country no matter what the situation can freely cross any border at any time. It only makes sense.

Watching from NC, US. Looking forward to leaving. Canada is a strong contender for me/wife & my young boys. Wait times to see any specialist here in the US can take weeks to months. So, not that awesome. And without insurance, you're absolutely screwed.

You fools realize you are not getting in, you will be detained and will be sold to the trafficking market. My god yes, this exactly what I'm seeing as a born and raised Canadian. I just work hard, have most of my money taken and limits to me to just working 40+ hours a week so I can go home and watch some youtube. Everything you're saying doesn't just apply to immigrants. People born and raised here are seeing how screwed they're getting, and we're supporting everyone who is coming here, or need more medical, or income support, or have a bunch of kids and are single, and that's is all you get to do.

I’ve watched the video and I’ve read many comments. My message it’s to immigrants, Canadians & everyone. Just be some patient to read for you to think reasonable after this. I’m sure you’ll start to be reasonable regarding Canada. I had a good life good job & a nice home in Ukraine. Due to the barbarian russian invasion my family & I fled the horrific situation in Kharkiv city. I was driving a mini bus of 4 families! Most are children. We’ve arrived to Europe. Crossing many countries (Poland, Czechia & Austria) we’ve arrived to the country leading the EU. In Poland & Czechia, we’re treat very good by the people. In Austria we got hardly a payed hotel where children could get a rest!!! We still didn’t understand why they don’t want to give us rooms despite we’re paying for our staying!!! In Germany, I believe that the government did its best. But the number of comers is huge! Of course many they got disappointed as happened with me! But I still understand and believe that really the government & people did theirs best. So fast I got a job! The social connection helped to introduce me to the company! But i was not hired, I still to express myself & my qualifications. The manager was understanding, so he accepted to communicate in English and to offer me the job in case if I am successful doing the job during the first week at the site. I had to change the machines menu into English. So the manager was very satisfied with my job and I got that job. The rent! You’ll get it only if you receive the blessing of each member of the county and a very strong social connections! The doctors! To make just a blood work for my son it took 45 days of waiting! To get the doctor appointment, you need that a German guy call and get you the appointment! Because when my wife called, the secretary said: we don’t speak English! But when my wife went for her visit she figured out they’re speaking English better than her!!! My son has an issue of hyperactivity, so they refused to accept him at school more than 3 hours a day! And he was excluded from the birthday parties of his colleagues aswell other events! Other Ukrainian children, they were just attending classes! Just a show! No body cares how help their integration! About, the taxes! The half of my income was going to the government! The money back?! Only 200 euros/ month for my kid. And nothing else. Nothing! To get a neurologist appointment for my son it was necessary to wait 3 months! Prices?! Everything expensive! Technology?! Not better than Canada at all. Bureaucracy, Canada is much less. Banking system, Canada much better. Where in Germany?! The best province in Germany “Munich”. Where people stoped long ago dreaming to purchase a home. Guys, Canada doesn’t through broken people as we were in camps! Where nothing is human there! Canada doesn’t enter you in cercle of hell bureaucracy just to get your kid into school! And if he needs a support he get it right away without any background that he’s not our!!! I got a good job in Canada; so fast. Without any social connections because simply I do not have any. I rent an apartment for my family, without to proof to the landlord that I’m the best guy in the world with a witnessed county about that!!! I want you to be sure, that I am not the lonely case. Just ask Ukrainians stied in Europe for a while before they move recently. Just ask them. I am not saying it’s a paradise or cons don’t exist. Just paradise doesn’t exist! And cons are everywhere. Just I want you to be fair about Canada. Please, be reasonable! The cons in Canada are not catastrophic, and it’s not difficult to fix them. It may take some time, but not difficult. Believe me it’s not about only Canada. The whole world is going a step back! I wish that my experience, helps to understand appropriately.
