In my 42 years of working a service job I encountered thousands of immigrants.....I always found the East Indian people to be the easiest to get along with......there are good and bad apples in every culture but in general I found them always willing to help , talk and laugh with me.......many of them joked how they could out cheap anyone......and you've got to give them credit for finding the loop holes to get ahead

As a Canadian, I work in healthcare in the disability sector, and I am extremely frustrated with what I am seeing the Indian population taking over the sector. There are ongoing issues with Indians who cannot communicate clearly in English with clients. This has resulted in serious confusion and, on several occasions, situations escalating into violence. Clear communication is essential in healthcare, and this failure puts vulnerable clients at risk. Clients are not being provided with proper meals that meet their dietary needs. Instead, food is often prepared without consideration for the client’s usual diet, which has caused clients to become physically ill. On top of that, basic food safety practices are not being followed at all. To make matters worse, the company does not provide proper foodsafe training, despite it being a legal requirement. There are also major professionalism issues. Some Indians arrive late to work—sometimes by hours—and give excuses with no consequences. I have documented these incidents and reported them to upper management, yet nothing is done. During shifts, 90 percent of Indian staff sit in the office for long periods, leaving clients unattended except for basic cooking. This can go on for days until white staff are scheduled. One incident that really stood out involved a client returning from a doctor’s appointment. When I asked how it went, I was told the client “had something on his head” and needed to use a cream. When I asked what the condition was or whether it was contagious, the Indian staff member did not know what the word contagious meant let me remind you I work in health care. I later learned from the client’s mother that it was a fungal infection information that should have been clearly communicated immediately for everyone’s safety. I am exhausted by the lack of standards, accountability, and training in this workplace. If you are going to work in healthcare in Canada, you must be able to communicate effectively, follow food safety laws, show up on time, and provide proper care. Lowering standards for the Indian population puts vulnerable people at risk, and management allowing this is unacceptable. If your coming to Canada follow are values and beliefs are stay in India.

I actually worked at Tim Hortons(I'm a white guy), and there were literally so many Indians that they'd order each other around in Hindi. They'd only speak English to me and the customers. I had a shift coordinator in fact who would reflexively give me orders in Hindi, and would get a little ticked off and repeat it in Hindi, and then when it clicked that I'm the only non-Hindi speaker there, he'd give 1 word orders like "Garbage" or "Sinks". The owner of the Tim Hortons also said that if I was a little slow or needed extra training, they wouldn't fire me because they don't like to keep rotating workers around, and instead would rather just retrain them. I was a tad bit slow(only because I was precise and not violating health and safety standards), and they fired me in like 10 seconds. Like my second monthly review, I was fired. I have a feeling it largely had to do with the fact that I was not Indian and didn't speak Hindi, so therefore the shift coordinators had less tolerance for me.

What bothers me is how this conversation has been reduced to blaming one group. The reality is that the Canadian government failed first by not properly managing immigration volumes, not enforcing document verification, and not honestly assessing whether the country could support such rapid population growth. That policy failure created pressure on housing, jobs, and social systems long before resentment followed. We also need honesty within the Indian community. Some Indians struggle to adapt being overly loud, culturally rigid, and sometimes lacking empathy for Canadian norms and shared public spaces. I studied Canadian and Indigenous history in school, and respecting that history matters. Assimilation doesn’t mean abandoning your culture, but it does mean understanding and respecting the society you chose to join. Cultural education should be expected, not optional. That said, one Indian doing something wrong does not make all Indians bad. Most Indian students and workers I know are hardworking, punctual, and serious about contributing. I’ve personally worked minimum-wage jobs for years, and what I noticed was not jobs being “taken,” but fewer Canadian youth willing to stay in or commit to these roles long-term. Indians didn’t replace Canadians, they filled vacancies that already existed. I also briefly volunteered helping the homeless, and what I saw was honestly shocking. It’s not that the government isn’t trying to help there are rehabilitation programs and support systems in place. The difficult truth is that a significant portion of the homeless population struggles with substance abuse and refuses treatment because it requires giving up drugs. Over time, homelessness itself starts to function like a culture, where benefits and assistance unintentionally enable continued substance use rather than recovery. This is an uncomfortable reality people don’t like to talk about. None of this is simple. Immigration didn’t break Canada, and neither did one community. Poor policy, weak enforcement, lack of accountability, and refusal from governments and individuals to adapt responsibly is what brought us here. Blame is easy. Honest solutions are not.

I’m gonna comment here with a lil rant and I’m Indian woman, and I know my comment here would probably invite a lot of racist remarks . I am working very hard in my country to be a doctor and I wanna leave my country (because no opportunities ) and move to a better and a safer country where I’m respected as a woman , which my country fails to . I’m not saying my people aren’t flawed , they are but why the government is so easy in immigrating uneducated uncouth people from 3rd world countries where even these people wouldn’t be hired in some great companies or give anything great to build a valuable society , why people who are talented and literally would assimilate, has respect , is educated literally would bring a change for better is sidelined or toughened up their immigration process ? So. As a renovations contractor, I do bathrooms, kitchens, basements and additions...I have been called many many times by people from India to quote their work. And when I do, they think im bartering with them. Can you do cash? Can you do it for 10,000 less? Can you just get materials for me? Can you recommend someone else? OMG. This is what gets me, I’m an immigrant. I came from a place where we speak a broken dialect of English. As part of my processing, I had to demonstrate my ability to speak the queen’s english. To work, the expectation is you’re able to communicate effectively with whoever you’re interfacing. These folks come here, make zero attempt to improve or learn English or French - the national languages. They go home after the day is done, revert to their native tongue. How would you ever perfect something like a language without some degree practice and immersion? And they do this with their generations. The 1st and sometimes 2nd generation kids will speak their native tongue first, before learning English or French. It’s like the language they should speak to effectively work and live in Canada is an accessory. The govt at all levels encourage this by having driving tests and forms in other languages. And don’t get me started on the pockets - Brampton for example. The politicians kowtow to the voters and give in to them having huge temples, and nonstandard shopping complexes. It’s a running joke how many Indians will be living in the same house, renting from other Indians collecting money under the table in completely unsanctioned and illegal rental scenarios. Companies set up by Indians, to service Indians. So they don’t even care to present as Canadian business with English / French. I’m in the midst of charting my family’s exit from Canada. It’s become something entirely unrecognizable. Where those who know how to game the system get ahead, those of us who play the rules - stay behind. I’ve worked my way up to being upper middle class. Local shop I used to work in has been bought up by them a few years ago...I noticed they hire a new guy from Chennai every few months and then previous worker moves to london. As someone who's born and raised in Brampton I don't really see any issues when it comes to the large Indian demographic in the city. Majority of the people in this city are just middle class families trying to get by and provide their kids and families a bright future. Without the indian immigrants coming to this city what would it even be? You have families living in million dollar+ houses, working, owning business, giving good futures and opportunities for their children but y'all mad cause they are Indians who are doing this. If they were white people instead would be calling Brampton a success story then? Let me tell you this as a legal Indian immigrant that came here 13 years ago with my whole family. There was a balance of immigration coming in from every country which was amazing until they opened the gates to India like it’s another bus stop away from India. All international students are required to provide documents and statement letters in their student visa applications to prove that they intend to return to their home countries after their studies. The only thing that is expected (not guaranteed in any way) is a post-graduation work permit to give them a chance to acquire Canadian work experience and have enough points to apply for permanent residency if they choose to. The government should only be responsible for those who were already selected and approved for residency before changes to the regulations. There is a clear lie in that video. Nobody is in Limbo. Mind you there is normal Federal Express entry program still happening. Meaning, that if you get selected through that program, you can immigrate to any province of your choice - including Quebec. You can also still get bonus points for Canadian education (Quebec education does count) and Canadian work experience (if it qualifies). So the only thing that happened was, that one provincial nomination program was ended, that is all that happened. The practical problem is, that provincial nomination does give so many points, that it is a guarantee of normal express entry pull as long as you just meet criteria to enter Express entry. So provincial nominations are suitable for people that might be otherwise struggling with points (older age, less language perfection, les bonus points from education or work experience). For a disclaimer, provincial programs are based on a specific province needs and just because one was opened when you planned to go and study or work in Canada, it does not mean it will be like that forever. If an agent made you such promise, then he was misleading you. Again for those people demonstrating, nothing has changed for them other than one future option was gone. They still have their student or work permit until it expires. They also can apply into Express entry program as normal. On a side note for Canadian trying to cheer about this, be aware, such change can also mean that economy projection for next few years is not the best. so take it a warning sign.
