The minister was probably chosen specifically because she was inept and wouldn't know what was going on in her department; that reduces the likelihood that anyone would be turned away a while longer. As Lorrie said - just like my Political Science professor pointed out almost 50 years ago - immigrants largely vote for whoever was in power when they arrived in the country. A very large percentage of the people that they bring into the country under a Liberal government are likely to vote Liberal. That's a (practically) guaranteed stream of new Liberal voters to replace the old Liberal voters who have become disillusioned by the Liberal Party's actions. It has to stop. We need to vet EVERYONE who comes in and we shouldn't be giving them gold-plated health care until we've granted them refugee status or permanent residency and they should be told that up front so no one is shocked or feels cheated. If they know that and still come, they'll know what they're facing. If they choose not to come, they've made an informed decision.

Carney liberals have already voted against a conservative bill that would ban extortion convicts from claiming refugee status to avoid deportation. These guys ain't going anywhere. In fact, they're getting better health care coverage than the average Canadian tax payer

The massive majority of Indians I've met in Canada have been absolutely kind. I have no ill will for the people. I do have ill will for our liberal government though. There's just too many people coming in at once. In 2025 we had 415,000 new permanent residences. 2024 it was 425,000. The liberal government said they were going to lower immigration and they didn't. They gutted the international student program but they kept the influx of permanent residences coming in because they're not done buying votes.

Im a Canadian and honestly I've NEVER had a problem finding a job, I don't even have my highschool... I think it has to do with *which* jobs they are applying for. I get that theres an "immigration" problem, the refusal to adapt and assimilate feels like a slap in the face especially when the same few will talk I'll of the same system they benefit from. HOWEVER I don't think it's good to lump all of these problems together and dump collective blame on immigrants. For 1, all this immigration and policies have happened under a liberal government and y'all voted then in, AGAIN. - clearly you're not THAT desperate for change. 2nd. Are the ones saying they can't find work willing to work in trades? General laborers making $25-$30+++ No experience required. Tradespeople are glad to teach people willing to work hard and learn.. What about warehouse work? Apply to your 5 closest warehouses, I guarantee youll get in 1.. ALSO the government IS willing to help Canadians get little certifications like forklift, smartserve, CPR.. Career colleges can help with training (e.g - computer) as well as soft skills. So yeah, I wonder if it's people being just as picky as they were when Canada wasn't in the economical shitter it is in rn? Maybe Im far luckier or fortunate than most? I'm a proud Canadian Immigrant of Indian origin. I came here to do specialized studies in Game Development. I took my time, and studied 6 years as an international student, paying 3x the tuition, sank $200,000 of hard earned money into the Canadian Education system — Not as a fast track gimmick to immigrate, but so I could achieve my dream as a Game Developer. This money was family income, earned on 1/4th the salary, taking 4x longer to save. I was a great privileged to me. Today 15 years later, no one would ever think I'm from India. I sound Canadian, I behave Canadian, I have Canadian values, and I am Canadian. I came here because I loved Canada. I would watch hours upon hours of indigenous history, and on my Citizenship day, I watched Juno Beach to celebrate. However I must say this... I suffered through s*icidal depression here for 8 years, because I had far less leverage here than in a developing country, and it's really telling what sort of situation we're all in... Rent caps in Canada were removed... The housing market was open to foreign investors / and real estate monopolies with a 20% year-on-year rise... Rents went from 1000$ to 2100$ MINIMUM for a 1 bedroom through Trudeau's term and the govt said "It's not a federal responsibility"... Auto insurance is like 2.5-3.5k a year in Ontario and if you get a dent, you pay a deductable... I was quoted 8500$ for two wisdom teeth surgeries while it costed me 260$ abroad... During Covid - property owners, banks, and grocery stores exploited our misery and made record profits!... The govt stopped filtering through it's immigrants with "interviews", and it's operating like a scam — "Bring all your foreign money, convert it to CAD, and keep our GDP stable.. while we neither have the infrastructure, nor the job market to support these numbers". I think some accountability is due... these issues are "symptoms", not the problem — The problem is our Liberal govt / policies, and our wonderful voting body who voted Liberal term after term after term while complaining. Why does this govt safeguard extremism, foreign politics, foreign separatism? Khalistanis are as much of a threat / nuance to India than it is to Canada, but in Canada they actually have a unrestricted platform. So, while he may resign within the week once that leadership race is done, he's still technically in charge.\n\nWhat makes that race and the PM's prorogation so bad is that we're in the middle of a crisis - several actually - caused in part directly by Trudeau and his Liberals (and the NDP supporting them). The latest would be Trump's tariffs starting today, March 4, 2025. Trudeau always disappears during a crisis, leaving us to fend for ourselves - (1) COVID, he was at the cottage using every excuse not to be accountable for anything or using unconstitutional powers to crush a protest he didn't know how to handle, (2) Chinese spies, he's ignoring our intelligence service, (3) federal worker strike, he's in NYC at some gala.... I could go on but there's a reason we're hurting so bad.\n\nWe have zero federal leadership, and a federal government that makes things worse for us with things like: over-regulation, subsidizing media to keep us misinformed, nerfing select natural resource sectors but favoring others (oil and gas suffer, while coal is fine... probably because we sell it to China, but I digress), letting criminal out of jail, uncontrolled immigration, passing policies like the FHSA that drive home prices higher and higher, and of course, more and more taxes. I'm a latino straight from South America and I'm very happy. I REALLY don't get what you american liberals think of us. The only reason we are willing to leave our countries to live in the US is because you have a country where we can thrive. In order to go to the US, we go through the process and apply for visas and the green card. That's being honest. We don't want the country filled with illegal immigrants who jump the border. We left our countries in an honest way and we want the borders strong, so we can still have a country where we can thrive. Is it really hard for you to understand that? We voted for Trump and we're proud of it, so we don't need your false pitty. You guys don't know reality, you're born in fantasy land and you aren't able to see the basic truth even if it's in front of you.

If done or failed, go back, and apply properly, everyone sees worldwide how past few years of extremely lax immigration standards and enforcement is affecting ALL Western Liberal led governments, all suffering. Sorry, but EVERYone has to go through proper channels again, and there is a lot of financial and social damage done through the Trudeau Regime we're frikkin broke. There is going to be worldwide recession and depression and possibly famine and civil wars, you name it nothing at the moment is looking good ANYwhere.. He is importing votes, but he is going to be gone as soon as we can..... cannot believe they won't arrest him after all his crimes and obstructions and laundering. All see the disaster this unfettered access everywhere has wrought. We love ya, but we must focus on realities, grim, and this is all still in infancy stages. is gonna be a very cold Winter, and probably a very hungry ones, and a lot of places are just going to have to shut down. Either you have finished your schooling, or withdrew, whatever.... school is done. That service paid for is now over, nobody stopping LEGAL citizenship routes when space and need arise.

Why should this country you're fleeing to take you in? Instead of fleeing Canada, why don't you fight for it? Did you vote for the Liberals that are screwing up Canada? Are you just going to do the same in your next host country? Have you ever looked in the mirror? Maybe you're the problem you're fleeing from. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Canada, like the rest of the world, needs to repent. Then they might get the wisdom back to govern properly. It's good that you see the problems of Canada, but you should pay your dues and fight instead of just complaining and fleeing. And if you do leave, maybe put a little more effort into your next host country and not just flee when the going gets tough.

FEEDBACK: It boggles my mind that so few people ever put 2 and 2 together... The reason that the cost of living in greater Vancouver & Toronto is outrageous is simple: a Liberal government long ago enshrined the 'right' of new immigrants to go where they felt like, rather than where the country needed them. Simple supply & demand economics did the rest. They did this to sew up the immigrant vote. I'm bitter about it because I lost my life savings investing in a 27-suite apartment building in Winnipeg and, while Vancouver & Toronto were booming too much, there was actual out-migration from Manitoba, property values fell and I lost my apartment building. (It's very disheartening to pump more money into something when you have negative equity!) Thanks for nothing, Liberals, NDP & Conservatives too (the latter being too chicken to ever mention the issue.. they're all courting the immigrants more than the good of the country).

I understand peoples idea of leaving Canada. That's okay, you can do that. I'll never leave Canada. It's my home, it's gonna be my home. No matter what yes, we're going through some tough times right now but I can tell you right now. The whole world is going through some tough times it isn't just cand to blame everything on Trudo. Is not right. The conservatives have just as much in this game as anyone else. All these governments have basically fought amongst each other and did nothing to do anything good for Canadians. Now now to run away from Canada and say oh, it's terrible. Oh I can't live here. No more but. That's fine. Don't I get it right now? It sucks living in Canada. The cost of living is absolutely insane but that was federal governments, allowing big corporations to run the country. We have 3 large corporations that run the groceries. We have 3 large corporations that run the cell phone companies. And they charge whatever the hell they want. The government is to blame for all of that because they allowed it to happen and it is just the liberals who is the conservatives as well. They're all to blame for that. The thing is we have to voting. Governments that are actually going to do something to make things right agand we now have a world economy. It's not just a Canadian economy. We have to play by their rules. In order to survive, there's a lot of greedy people out there. And we're the ones in the middle. And that's the way it is until we change it ourselves. Leaving the country isn't going to change anything and it certainly isn't going to change. For the better

It's all fine and well that you want to leave Canada but where will you go that's any better? After all it is your choice. The problems we see happening around the world are a global problem. There are at least 2 major wars going on. Inflation is rampant in most countries in the world and we ARE heading for a global economic depression that will dwarf anything that we've seen in the 1930's. Speaking for myself my roots are here in Canada which is not the Canada I grew up in anymore. Sadly. Used to be a really great place to live until Trudeau and his band of thieves ruined it. I may as well make my last stand here. If I was going to move where would I go. The EU? Absolutely not! They're tanking. America? No effing way! The American empire is collapsing. Along with the FED note. South America? Don't think so. Most S. American countries are iffy at best. Australia? No. They're nuts. New Zealand? No. They're struggling badly and people are leaving there in droves. Africa? No way in hell. So that doesn't leave very much. Antarctica? Little on the cold side. Few amenities. ;) May as well stay where I am and take my chances. Better the devil I know than the one I don't. If you're serious about moving out of Canada be sure to do your due diligence and research about your target country. Grass always looks greener on the other side but many times isn't once you get there. One place that I AM attracted to is the Azores. Beautiful place. Friendly people. Good climate. One drawback is that I don't speak Portuguese. And I would have to be independently wealthy. After a certain amount of time out of the country I would lose my Canadian pension. It's said that where we are is where we're supposed to be. I may as well take my chances, make the best of a crappy situation and stay here. There really is no better or worse place than Canada. The majority of the countries in the world are struggling with their own problems. I'm not willing to jump from the frying pan into the fire. One of the biggest reasons I want to stay in Canada is that if it does come to a nuclear shooting war it would be very unlikely that Canada would be attacked. So here I'll stay. For better or worse. The LIberals won't be in power forever and if people have the smallest amount of sense, so few will vote for them in the next election that the Liberals will lose party status. I fervently hope that happens. ;)

Rampant uncontrolled immigration (mostly from India) has directly affected housing, inflation and healthcare in Canada making life more difficult for Canadians, if you cannot see that and make the correlation by this point, you should really not be voting, as you’re likely one of the people contributing to the problem the Canadian economy currently finds itself in \n\nsupply and demand is a basic concept, one which most liberal voters and left leaning media stations really don’t understand

I've voted liberal for many years and live in Toronto but even I can admit we're bringing in wayyyyy too many immigrants.

Canada is also a place where being a criminal is far more honorable and beneficial to local communities. Because that illegal money flows into local economies. Not to mention their medieval justice system, you can be charged for crimes based on some random persons complaint even if they're wrong, basically depending on your demographic you can have the system weaponized against you. The problem is greed stupidity and corruption. we think that voting for some other vegetable in a suite is going to change anything. we flip flop between 2 parties that both serve themselves and their buddies. Unfortunately the deterioration that happened to Canada in the last 9 years and is still happening at a lightning speed is self inflected. Canadians had two election to get rid of Justin Trudeau, the Liberal, Jagmeet Singh and the NDPs who proved time after time they're unqualified, out of touch, self serving politicians.. We had an amazing country before 2015 federal election when Stephen Harper who studied economics and had a Masters degree was leading the country. Unfortunately in 2015 Canadians chose a Prime Minister because of his last name and his cute hair cut. Voting is a right and a responsibility that must be taken seriously, please examine candidates achievements before electing anyone. Canada is a great example of what happens to a country when you elect the wrong Prime Minister and the wrong government in three federal elections. RIP Canada

PLEASE DON'T push Pierre on immigration! I don't have proof but I'm sure it's just his strategy. I can't believe that a smart conservative like him isn't in favor of cutting back on immigration. He may (and has) even said some pro immigration things but I'm sure this is only to get as many Canadians as possible to vote for him so he gets the most powerful majority in the house. The larger the majority the easier to pass his conservative laws.\n\nIf we push him too early to say what we want to hear it may adversely affect the quality of the Conservative win we get. Why? Because a lot of Canadians think anti immigration is synonymous with fascism and they'll go back to voting Liberal just to calm their nerves.\n\nLook at how Bernier's PPCs can say what you want to hear on immigration but as a result have less of a chance of becoming a majority PM than the dreaded Singh. Bernier is too honest to be a politician and unwittingly ends up giving Trudy exactly what he wants by splitting the actual party with the realistic chance to end his tyranny, the Conservative Party.\n\nDon't do the Liberal Media's job for them. Pierre can dodge their immigration questions because they're Liberal. But if we conservatives push too hard, too early on this, we'll shoot ourselves in the foot as Pierre may be tempted to be honest with conservative leaning media like Rebel News. After he wins we can push him, but don't do the CBC's job for them. You'll be throwing them a big bone to start comparing him to the so-called evil orange man from down south.
