2 years, 7 months ago @NotSorryCA When I had my kid in Canada, the only thing we paid for was parking. My cousin, who lives in Texas, paid 5K for each of her deliveries, even though they had great HC insurance. My son went through a whole 4 year, plus 1 year Co-op engineering degree for the price of one year's tuition in the US for the same program and he's gainfully employed. I also got 6 months maternity leave 26 years ago, and now people get 1 year. 2 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @kimsdharma For parents (or expecting parents) it's not just the healthcare, it's the schools. We don't have school shooters and education is pretty decent. Overall I think our schools are safer for little ones. We also have one year paid maternity/paternity leave here. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @YourHeartsDesires I'm confused about something, I understand they don't have free healthcare in the USA. Do they have to pay for their medications too? I know we pay a lil here, but it's next to nothing. I pay $6, for a flovent asthma inhaler and $3 for ventolin. I looked at their pricelist and it was almost $300 for flovent and $80 for ventolin. I feel so bad for the American people. Having to choose between if I can breathe or not, must be one of the most horrific things to have to worry about. 1 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @sharonfound4493 Been in America was not a good first visit. We got lost in Detroit at night. Turns out it was a black community that didn't like whites. My Husband went into the convince store for directions. Across the street a black gal in a yard was pointing a shotgun at me. I had 3 young children in the car. Told my husband on his return we had to get the heck out of here. He said that's what they told him inside. Pointed over to the gal who was standing now with the shotgun leaned up against her. Ok paddle to the metal. 1 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @chadwickcartwright4892 We are more alike than most people think. We as Canadains are more American than we will admit. Just ask a Canadain about going to war. That's why every war, thousands of Canadain people will fight in American uniforms. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @FoxBatinaHat 9:15. (On HC being a primary concern). You only have 1-life and 1-body. To not be able to take care of it due to fiscal circumstances. Is horrifying to us. Who knows if one poor familly's child (who would have died otherwise) would become the next Einstein? //\nAnd this litterally happened. Tommy Douglas was going to have one/both legs amputated at the age of 14. He received costly treatment his familly coukd not afford in a fluke circumstance (The Dr. used him as a teaching example for med students. ) And when he became an adult - this event guided him. He took up politics, became Premier of Saskatchewan. Created a universal HC system in that province. And that system became envied throughout the country. Other Provinces emulated.\n\nCanada became the first country to develop univ.HC for its citizens. And this system was then in turn emulated by UK, Germany, Australia, France, Japan, Scandinavia etc.. \n\nThe USA, is the only developed 1st world country who has not developped one.\nThere's alot of conversation that it should classify as a 2nd world coutry due to its lack of Univ.HC and being 47th in Public education, high crime per capita and wealth disparity %. 1 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @tinab3627 Having to pay for healthcare is a huge detractor for me. I would never move there because of it. I got breast cancer a couple of years ago. I had many rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation & I can’t even tell you the amount tests were done. MRIs, CT scans, frequent doctor & specialist appointments, Scans of all kinds. I’m still in awe of everything they did for me & of course, thankful (is an understatement). \nI can’t imagine what all that would have cost. I didn’t have to pay anything. It was all covered by the government. I ham now over one year out and currently cancer free. ??? 72 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @patrickwood9692 As a Canadian who never lived in the US but visited often, gojng back again. There are p!aces in the US that we love i.e Arizona on the top. Of course I would keep well secured weapons in my house if we retired in AZ. No p!ace is completely safe especially major cities. Keep this in mind as well that Canada is sparsely populated compared to the US. I would not raise my kids in any major city in Canada either. I have no problem with our friends in America. We choose not to hide but experience life even at some risk. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @trainglen22 Move to the USA, no thanks. Canada has problems but they are nothing like the USA. High health care costs, Politics are bat shit crazy. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @macadanac5000 Reddit is a very leftist platform and so these types of responses were predictable. A lot of it would have been true in the 70s and 80s but these are Canadian stereotypes that people are desperately holding onto. More and more things are being delisted from our healthcare coverage, meaning that I often hear of people getting charged out of pocket. I was surprised 3 years ago when my doctor ordered a cancer screening after I was suffering a digestive issue. I was not prepared to pay out of pocket for something as essential as cancer screenings. This sort of thing always used to be covered. It was always covered by our much higher cost of living and our higher taxes. If my taxes keep going up, I expect services to get better, not to decline like they have been. Our seniors are afraid to go to the doctor these days. Suicide is being offered to them instead of proper care and treatment. After they had spent decades working and paying into the system they are being shut out. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @emilshellborn I was born in Canada and live here currently. I have lived in Asia, Europe and USA. Canada is my least favorite country to reside, by far, to be honest. Canadian health care is not free, it is just that Canadians are brainwashed to think that working months a year (slavery) for the government healthcare is acceptable. Like children wanting mommy and daddy to look after their allowance. The services a pathetic! As for the politics comment; that fellow is also typical of many (but not all) Canadians....most people in Canada ONLY talk to people that they agree with therefore there will not be any arguments...people even ghost their own family if you don't agree to worship the government. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @dmax64 I'm ?? a 60 year old female and yes Spewdeau has singlehandedly tanked this country. Worst P.M ever(no bullshit strait up) 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @thepandainterviews475 Its funny when people talk about the quality of Canadian health care. For example, BC Cancer is one of the best in the world. Canada is on the cutting edge of many health care procedures. Yes, its hard to get a primary care physician but that is because the US is throwing enormous amounts of cash at Canadian doctors and nurses. Canada still keeps up pretty darn well especially when considering Canada has only a FRACTION of the US population and much fewer resources and funds available. My family has never suffered from our health care system in the past 60 years. 1 family member had a quadruple bypass - no bills 2) cancer - no bills 3) emergency c-section w air transport to city 400 mils away - $360 for air ambulance 4) emergency appendectomy - no bills 5) Heart atttack w stint - no bill 6) MRI and CATscans - No bills 6) 3 ADHD diagnosis w mental health care support - no bills 7) industrial accident with crushed hand - no bills 8) Electrical accident with burns throughout body - no bills 9) burns from an oil fire - no bills 10) fall into fire pit w subsequent 3rd degree burns on leg - no bills 11) leg amputation from type 1 diabetes - no bills. And then there are all the little things that happen day to day. In each event, we received top notch care and services. So, you might earn more in the US but we save more in Canada and very few suffer from it. A lot of complaints? Most bad experiences are shared whereas positive ones are not. I think if people on both sides really looked, the US health care fails many more people per capital on a daily basis than in Canada. US insurers are known to abandoned people when they become overly expensive and its not unusual to not have choices in drugs or care options. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @kyleinkster4494 Canadian health care is absolute garbage if you need an intelligent skilled doctor that can help you gotta go to the USA for Healthcare. Health canada is a bloated communist pipe dream that costs alot of money to working taxpayers canadians 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @joeydepalmer4457 I well not move to the USA, BUT visit there, OH YA! New York, Boston, Seattle, All points east, west, north and south! Mind you, I well need someone to pull my head out of the food troughs long enough to enjoy where I am 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 7 months ago @TrimutiusToo So I was born in Russia, then moved to Toronto, then lived in New York for 5 years... Let me tell you waits in emergency room in New York aren't nearly as bad as in Toronto... but costs... 300 dollar copay when my employer in New York was giving me one of the best insurance available in US... But I just didn't like living in US... I moved back to Toronto eventually to lower pay, mainly because my relatives are here... but having social safety net and stuff like that is nice, even if my salary in Toronto is lower than in NYC...\nP.S. both USA and Canada are way better than living in Russia tho 1 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @lindaberg1695 Too many guns and not enough health care for all in the US.. On the flip side, booze, gasoline and cigarettes are cheaper...I think I'll stay north of the 49th...Cheaper gas isn't enough of an incentive. If I get shot and survived, the hospital bill would kill me. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @louisech1963 I wouldn't move to the USA because of health care, the teacher's salary, guns, racism etc 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 7 months ago @shieh.4743 It isn't the size of the town. It is the attitude that it is basically fine - as long as it is happening somewhere else. Yes, the potential of any gun violence is just unacceptable. It isn't just being scary - it's gross and uncivilized. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 7 months ago @CrDa-i7e Canadian Universal Health Care does vary from province to province as to what is covered since health care is a provincial responsibility and it only covers residents of the province, so if you are coming to Canada or travelling to different provinces within Canada, check your insurance to find out if you would be covered and consider getting health insurance before travelling. Otherwise you might get an unexpected bill. \n Auto insurance only cover injuries from auto accidents. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @matrices3987 No, American healthcare is not great quality and No! You cannot get healthcare quickly in most cases even if you have the money. Doctors visits have an unspoken 4 minute time limit. It takes a GP referral to see a specialist or have any test done and they often gaslight you for fear your insurance won't pay the bill. Wait times to see a GP or specialist are easily 2+months. 350k people die every year from medical mistakes. U.S.A. healthcare is catastrophically bad. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @chriseradley6083 I decided about 25 years ago that I have no interest in ever returning to the US. The way your commercials seem to focus only on frivolous personal injury lawsuits and drug promotion really turned me off! 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @htmc2022 Try New Mexico or other states where the majority live below the poverty line and the State Laws undid Obama’s Health Care Initiatives! Only the wealthy get good health care in the U.S. 2 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @htmc2022 Tyler not just older people need fully Funded Health Care - you get married & your first child has a costly birth accident meaning a lifetime of health care costs = bankruptcy in the U.S. ❤ 2 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @Jewelybee7 I was in upstate New York and didn't realize that they didn't take our Canadian money, this was many years ago. I hadn't had a problem Previously using my money by border states. The gas station attendant called the cops on me Cause I had no other means to pay for the gas. A state trooper came and told the cashier to take my money. He was super friendly and kind. I was so thankful and grateful for his help. I've always found people friendly when I've been to the America. But that said I haven't visited all the areas. 2 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 7 months ago @judeerichardsonschofield2434 According to the Peterson-Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) Health System Tracker, the average cost of giving birth in the United States is $18,865. This includes pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care 1. However, this cost can vary depending on factors such as the type of birth and location. For instance, the average out-of-pocket cost for health insurance plan members is $2,854 1. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
