2 years, 7 months ago @704barron Sorry, I have to call you on your rambling... More than five minutes on one comment - a bit much to endure... 8:15 - 14:10 Otherwise, great topic. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @PocketfleetDS The guy that had to pay in Toronto is because after 6 months out of the province you loose your OHIP (Ontario Health Care coverage) 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @perrycomeau2627 I don't patronize. New Jersey is fun. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 7 months ago @deejames9380 With respect. More available access to healthcare in the US means shorter wait lists This is due to less people being able to access it. If 335M had access to health care there'd be longer wait lists.. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @rachelhillman910 Upstate newyork is small town and Republican. It's not NYC 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @101peekaboo The health care system here sucks, and the tyranny we've been under for 3 years is crazy. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @chefwawa Tyler, it's time you visited Canada, reacted and interacted LIVE. I look forward to seeing ya, eh! 3 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @VictorEMusique On ONE MILE of highway in NJ, I saw over 100 US flags....\n\nIf you don't fly a flag, do you forget where you're from? 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @TheBagOfHolding Canadians move here at a rate of 5 to 1 vs usa to canada. With the population differences they are 50 times more likely to move here than someone will move there. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @louisech1963 You don't have to wait in the US for health care because a lot of people can't get any health care service becaused it is too expensive. If you are out of Canada for more then 6 months, you are no longer convered by the Canadian health system. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @Warhawk9012 14:32 & 15:16 Well, Seattle *does* have milder winters than Toronto (much like Victoria & Vancouver.) 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @paullynn473 Love the person who went to Seattle for the great weather\n? 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @thesporadicfamily4231 I moved to the US to upstate NY(not even near NY City nor is the crime), and only last a few months before I moved back. I’ve also been to 70% of US States, and every time I’m nervous as everything is just so different and you don’t feel safe. \n\nYour streets are definitely different than ours, and quite dirty to say the least. \n\nI’d rather live on the streets of Toronto, then live in an State in the U.S. \n\nThe only State I’ve been too where I’ve felt a tad bit safe was Idaho, but even then, I was still uptight! \n\nCanada also has higher standards when it comes to hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, food, etc. \n\nI live bordering Buffalo, NY and am even scared to cross for a sports game or shopping, although It’s not that terrible over there. \n\nYour gun laws are scary, and although I have a license to carry here in Canada, the U.S. needs to be much more stricter and also not allow sales of them on every block! \n\nI have hundreds of friends in the US, and sometimes their wait times for appointments are much longer than mine, and I don’t have to claim bankruptcy afterwards. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @sueciviero3866 I am a Canadian exasperated with the wait times for medical care here. There is a lot of prejudice in Canada against America. Our politicians are ruining our economy and many Canadians are more interested in sensationalism about American politics than they are about problems here. Everyone living in peace and safety can afford to criticise others. But Canada was safer, friendlier and more economically responsible in the past. There are unsafe neighbourhoods here, too. There is poverty here, too. Those who don't see deterioration are not looking closely. We battle the same demons as any people group and are just as vulnerable to calamity as our American neighbours. I don't want to leave my country. The people I love are here. The rising cost of living gives me fears about future homelessness. I grew up as a patriotic Canadian and believed America was our friend. We thought maybe Americans were more prone to bragging while Canadians were more modest. My nearest city used to be vibrant and friendly and now it is colder, more dangerous and there is visible ruin from addiction. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @SGerbie Im surprised no one mentioned school! I would NEVER move to the states, i would NEVER put my child in school there. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @dannybaker8030 I was born in NYC but moved to Canada over 20 years ago, I now have dual citizenship. In the space of 1 year my retired father had a major stroke and my wife, pregnant with our first child had a full hemorrhage, was rushed to the hospital and gave birth to our premature son who required open heart surgery at 3 months of age. The quality of the health care was top notch, it didn't matter who I was or what I earned, we promptly received the best health care I can imagine. I was maxed out emotionally; I can't imagine worrying if I could afford the monies involved, was it covered under my current health care plan everything was 'just there'. There was no waiting for our legitimate emergencies. I don't know what the math would be on costs but I'm guessing I'd be broke for the rest of my life if this occurred in the States. \nOf course, what countries could afford universal health care except, maybe: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland. Italy, Israel, Greece and 22 other countries. Why is almost every other country paying less for drugs developed by American companies?\nYou pay slightly lower taxes... but what would your income look like if your employer paid you what they are paying for your insurance premiums?\nI'd say the richest country on earth has a little catching up to do... 47 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @HaleyMary That reddit commenter who complained about trashy people, there are trashy people in Canada , too. They're sometimes in the backlanes of the poor neighborhoods where you might not see them every day. It's not even particular cities, I'd say it depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @HaleyMary The wait times are too long in Canada. It can be several hours to the next day. My dad went to emergency when his stomach was hurting and he couldn't even get seen and he chose to go home and just rest. I had an at the time undiagnosed eye disease and had eye pain with my left eye closed up and wasn't able to get seen by anyone for quite awhile either. As I knew that over time my eye would eventually open up, I checked out of the E.R. and went home. That was during New Year's as well. It wasn't a great way to welcome 2016. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @HaleyMary $10 000 for childbirth? I'm amazed anyone in the U.S. is able to afford to give birth, never mind raising their kids. The U.S. sounds insanely expensive. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @HaleyMary I'm glad I was born in Canada compared to other countries throughout the world. The social safety net, the healthcare system and way less gun violence than the U.S. are my main reasons for wanting to stay in Canada. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @MikeBikerKickstand Too many guns, not enough healthcare. No thanks. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @mattdarrock666 In canadian healthcare, you're lucky if you're seen in 10 to 15 hours... 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @SurleyBlaine The person who said they had to pay in Toronto for a foot surgery only had to be because they lived in the states.\nYou also have to pay for whats considered not a necessity. You can get free cosmetic procedures if it the issue was from something like an accident, birth defect, disease, ect. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @gromm93 It's funny that you go on at length about health care and the cost of medication, as if they're one and the same thing.\n\nThey are not. Canadians have to pay for our own medications, unless we're covered by private insurance for them. There are very few exceptions to this, like chemotherapy, which can be *grotesquely* expensive. \n\nBut we can also get them a lot cheaper than you do in the states for a variety of reasons. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @TheBeatenPaths I'm Canadian and live very close to the border. Like, really really close, in the rural area. I cross all the time to grab things I can save money on. But I wouldn't live in the US for all the money in the world. People I talk to down there are all crazy. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @halbourneutube Regarding American vs Canadian alcohol, the beer is watered down, but the liquor is definitely cheaper. So enjoy the whiskey and rum! Don't forget the wine, vodka, tequila and the rest. Even after the exchange rate, the alcohol is cheaper in the states, just don't try to bring it home in the same day. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @hilarity123 Whats wrong with this guy? 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @lorenarodgers7545 My sister has lived i the U.S. for over 30 years now. She's so American, but won't get citizenship. Will only visit Canada. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @juliengoguen17 The comment about the U.S. education system should've been more clarified. The U.S. education as a whole, is behind the majority of developped countries. What you learn in grade 10, the majority of other countries have learned it in grade 8 or 9. The U.S. system doesn't seem to teach anything outside of the U.S. Here in Canada, our edcucation system will teach us a bit about the U.S., England, France, other European countries, Asia, South America, etc... We learn a great deal about our country, but we also learn about the rest of the world as well. Oh, and one last thing about our education system (and many other countries around the world) .....we don't ban books from school because there might be some references to gays, lesbians, LGBTQs or LGBTQIA2S+ in it. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 7 months ago @faralegros Well I had a kid this year in Québec, it was like 250$ for a single room or 20$ for double room or something. \nYeah some hospital would sell our informations to banks and diapers or food manufacturers... still cheaper than 3000$USD\nFor student I'd say if you are citizen of canada, it's like 10 time cheaper to study here than in US as far as I've seen.\nViolence is something really sad. I'd really wish that just guns were restrain for hunting and special forces, like police officer or body gard of gouvernment selected individual accredited to hold a weapon for defence.\nI've heard that in USA police don't all have to go through police academy that teach them how be an officer. Here they have to go to school, be cadets in summer break, have your attitude checked to de-escalat violent situation if possible.\nWhen I was a in high school violence was in drop in school, so much that they withdraw the officer that was station to that school to just do some one time per year presentation of what to do for security, to absolutely nothing. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @Drayghon $10,000 dollars to pay for something done without cost since the first days of Human-Kind. Think about it. Childbirth is an act of nature that they make you pay so they can witness it. Sad. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @pierrejanelle9368 I take offence as a Canadian when I hear the quality of our healthcare. There is time issues yes but we have some of the best hospitals in the world. We also have state of the art medical technology, some of the best research hospitals. A lot of fake news if you have never had to use our resources for life/death medical issues. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @JamesTaylor-qz6rf Our Health Care system is broken. We have very bad doctors and insane wait times. Our Health Care is tax funded and it's impossible to sue the hospital if they misdiagnose or mistreat an illness. When you pay for your doctor you will get the best care. Not up here though. One thing per visit and you must see a medical clinic first, if you can get an appointment. My last 2 visits were 14h wait times, and that's at the biggest hospital in BC. \n\nWe don't have free speech. We heavily tax our poorest people. Our gas is over $2 a liter. Food is very expensive especially at fast food places and restaurants. \n\nOur internet is third world at best but with some of the highest data costs in the world. \n\nWe have a run on our borders and our infrastructure is bursting at the seams. We put the needs of other countries before our own. Could be a good thing but not when helping the world is making it harder and harder for those born here to actually live and thrive here. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @MusicShortsGlobal I'm French Canadian and it really depends where you live in the U.S. There are some states in the Midwest or in Northern part that are completely fine to live and of course there's a culture shock, like everywhere else... 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @Alli8833 Lol, my jaw literally dropped when you said it cost your friends $3000 USD to have a baby. And that is WITH insurance??? That is so crazy. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @lynettejenkins9213 One problem with Americans is that what is important them is being rich and famous. They put their movie stars on a pedestal like they’re are gods. Insane!! Plus it being such a capitalist society is why you get the violence and poor people. They are the worst with the racism. So disgusting!! 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @neilgendzwill3260 Regarding giving birth: in Canada you get up to 12 months of maternity leave where you get paid through the federal unemployment insurance. Your employer is required to hold your job for you. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 even where there are sub minimum wages they have only been a dollar below normal minimal wage 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 canada has gone bad in political 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 both countries have ways to go for education housing that is career building 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 usa has more freedom of religion 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 like why billionaires do not pay taxes? 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 like canadian waitresses get at Least minimum wage Without tips and with tips wow ... 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @clement2780 most outrageous is gun and lack of healthcare , TIPS, as replacement for wages not bonus rewards; electoral college? best part of usa is cheap internet cell mobile phone, flights to europe asia are way cheaper in usa than canada 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @EdwardLaberge Look up where American health care ranks in the world. It ranks last when compared to 6 other industrialized countries. Those were Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @jeffroussell Didn't live there but worked (almost 25 years) mostly around Philly, Baltimore, and D.C. Loved visiting and the people were fantastic, but was always happy to get back home.\nHealthcare is the biggest reason. Why would anyone want to pay the Health Insurance Industrial Complex and their share holders large sums of $ instead of getting actual healthcare? Is it because the word 'socialized' is a word many have been brainwashed into thinking it is evil?\nThe other reason is the obsession and paranoia some have with their guns. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @Era515 I have a cousin in the States. I was shocked at how little he knew about other countries among other things. \n\nThen I vacationed in Hawaii. The newscasts never mentioned anything about what was happening elsewhere in the world (unless it involved the USA in some way. ) Having travelled extensively in the UK & Europe it came as a shock to discover just how insular it is in America. \n\nWhile there I got talking to a girl in one of the shops. Her parents lost their house & everything because of unexpected health issues. I can't even comprehend that. \n\nThe gun culture is another thing I cannot wrap my head around. Some members of my family own guns. They are used only to provide meat for the family and the rest of the time they are locked away safely. Carrying a weapon concealed or openly in day to day life is just crazy. There's been more than 500 mass shootings in the States this year. That's not counting all the other gun violence. Nothing could convince me to live there, and now I won't visit either. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @thauria I lived two years in the south of the usa (in Texas) during my childhood in the 90's and it wasn't so bad. Weather was great ! People nice and great ! I did love the school there, I learn English there and math was super easy. In Canada, I went in a catholic schools and we were obligated to say a prayer before class begin. In Texas in my elementary school, everyone is up in the morning before class and there is a swear thing to say not the betray the USA with the right hand on the heart of our chest… \nSo… First day of school in an other country, in an other language that I didn't understand or speak, I did joined my hands together . I was correct by my classroom teacher and make me a sign to do like the other kids. So I did. I had told my parents they pray also before class but in a different way ?\nIn time I learn how to say the words without knowing it's true meaning. Well before I realize what it was when I was able to understand the language, I always sure it was a prayer ?\nCultural choc 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @robertadaniel3676 It’s the guns in America that make me never want to live there. Sorry, I don’t even want to visit there. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
