2 years, 8 months ago @lesmcclaughry2732 Interesring that you say co-pay for a doctors visit is $50 to $100, in Canada we of course pay nothing but the doctors are paid by the Medical Services Plan of each Province the average across the country is $30 per 15 min visit. In British Columbia where I live it's $43.50. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @capnkirk5528 It's nice to see an American reaction that is not knee-jerk, jingoistic patriotism. A lifetime of visiting American cousins (upstate NY!, Michigan, Cali, Texas) that wrap themselves in the flag and declare the US 100% better for everything made me expect a very different video.\nCanada is no longer all that great, but ... top 10% of income / wealth you're better off in the US (but for MOST people the extra wealth doesn't buy happiness).\nNext 25% is about the same, your quality of life is the pretty much the same in either place so long as you don't have a health crisis.\nBottom 65% - move to Canada if you can, or better yet ANYWHERE in the EU. If you have a CompSci or Engineering degree, the EU is a better choice except for a certain amount of culture shock and the mandatory language rules. Of course, if you have the opportunity and funds to move ... you don't need to.\nIf you are of Nordic descent the appropriate Scandinavian country is definitely a better choice, but my understanding is that they are not very tolerant of others. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @kathygreenlay73 This sums it up re health care - in Canada we have homeless people also, but even they get healthcare without paying out of pocket. 5 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 8 months ago @uniquename111 Question is why do not all people in America afford good insurance. Why is it tied to work when the whole America knows that companies trixes with it so that they do not have to pay for benefits. Also why is healthcare a benefit and not a right? This whole thing is so backwards to me. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @mikclik9636 Health care part. Our health care has failed miserably. We are third world. Over 50 percent can not find doctor. 48 hour wait in emergency. Doctors don't get paid enough 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @tonemeister2318 When you have to pay to hold your newborn, something is seriously wrong with the system. My Mom just spent 5 months in the hospital. Including the multiple tests to ascertain what was wrong, meals overall care - not a penny billed to us ( except a rental for some equipment). 2 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @bethshultis7736 I am a Canadian. I moved to the US in 2000 and returned to Canada in 2022. Until recently, the US, in most aspects, was FAR better than Canada. I was absolutely shocked when I returned as to how bad this country (Canada) has gotten. It is truly pathetic,!!!! 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @daveincanada8 I would move to the states if I could. Canada housing market is shit and the gov here is increasingly socialist. You will have nothing and be happy is our governments plan, minus the happy part 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @45Lonewolf45 If it wasn’t for free healthcare I wouldn’t be here right now , I would have died at 25 , 58 now 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @yorky1111 If you co pay 50 to 100$ what is the total cost for probably a 20 minute doctors consultation? 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @eyemastervideo Just because my life would probably be very good in the USA, it doesn't mean it's not a bad place. Just because you don't experience your kid dying in school, your wife not allowed an abortion, denied care because health care is a business, etc... doesn't mean the USA is not a bad place. It's nice to visit, but a crappy place overall. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @chabenbuddy Canadian here - lived in the US for 5 years, moved for work and then quickly found I was in golden handcuffs and had way less job mobility due to my healthcare being tied to my job. In Canada there’s so much more freedom to grow professionally. Moved back because of that and also culturally I missed the community feel. Also - the politeness, even something as little as ordering food in the states bugged me. No one says please or thank you - it’s ‘I’ll get a number 4’ instead of ‘can I get a number 4’ - pretty small difference but once I noticed it I couldn’t stop. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @tamibenz6626 I’m glad I’m Canadian ??? I enjoy visiting the States but with my health issues!!! I wouldn’t be here to talk about it, some months I see Dr’a more than 6 times/month!!! Not including surgeries, hospital stays and very expensive drugs!! My 1 drug is $20,000 2/year and I’m on over 20 different daily meds, that doesn’t include the special ones I need from time to time!! Thank you Canada ? 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @franklinrichards8851 I dont know if that other person wanted to GTFO because of the health care system or the free stuff they would get to help raise a kid in Canada, and you have to think about the school system or the school system where they lived. Sorry the the USA school system is one of the worst on the planet over all. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @franklinrichards8851 LOL I dont know what the 1st guy meant but it really sounds like he is looking for free health care. Which I think is something that the USA should have. Sorry but if you know how the health care system works it will BLOW your mind. They make money hand over fist with Big Pharma. The whole system is corrupt. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 8 months ago @The_TRUTH_or_Nothing Hey there, you fine American... Just to let you understand, our system is FAR from perfect, but it's still easy access and quick service IF you don't need a rare specialist or a not so rare one). The thing is, it's ALL priority based, so if you wait, it's because someone needs your resources even MORE than you do. Sometimes, it ends up in a tragedy, but MOST times, it allows for the neediest to get it first. \nAs far as having children here, we have a NEGATIVE birthrate, so our government PAYS us to have children. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Double taxes (not that bad after the tax deductions and credits), but they also Double the safety net and services, compared to the rest of Canada. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though. Our conservatives are taking their talking points from the US GOP since COVID, and they are all-in to please their Oil lobby overlords and donators out in our prairies region. The Alberta Premier is a far-right conspiracy nutcase and her new pet-project is Capitalist healthcare (among her trolley of lunacies). SAME place the far-right rednecks always come at us from. It's like they binge-watch FUX nonnews and get their ideas from the dumbest idiots there. Disgraceful Canadian MAGAt wannabes are the result of Trump polluting everything since 2016. He made shameless individuals get some traction in this new, crazy world we live in. And it infected the whole Western world. Canada is not immune to idiocies, Q , conspiracy nuggets, and belly-button Anarchists everywhere.\nSorry a bout this little rant, but things are getting steadily worst as the year goes on. \nAnyways, YOU give me a sense that what we SEE about Americans isn't all there is to see. Some of you are decent, so keep it up and don't let the ranting morons give your whole country a bad rep. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 8 months ago @connorgrynol9021 The quality is actually not better in the US. Despite hospitals charging significantly more than other first world countries, America’s healthcare system actually performs worse in several areas including infant mortality but also in overall life expectancy. \n\nPatients are their customers. They want sick or hurt people, and the longer you stay in their hospital, the more they can charge you. Like, it’s pretty obvious that if you have a system where the worse a population’s health is, the greater the revenue, you’re going to have a conflict of interest. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @GrowingonVancouverIsland I my area of Canada the average weight time for the er is 4 to 12 hours! I can't imagine being seen in 15 minutes! 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @kbchef9205 I’ve visited NY and Florida a few times. It was worse than I expected. Never going back. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @JagadanandaDas Moving to another country is a huge life decision and only rarely possible. Americans are generally strongly conditioned to think of the US as the best country ever and it is rare that they can look at another way of life and think of it as good or better. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @beverlyingram9496 I used to think we were very much the same and I wanted to live in the US for the weather. But as we go often I have found the atmosphere and attitude has changed greatly in the last few years. People we used to be friends with don’t speak to me anymore as I called them on their awful beliefs. I know it’s not everyone but those beliefs have become way more common. The US used to be more global but now has become way more worried about themselves. \nYou can not talk about politics in a way that’s just a calm exchange, the hate is palpable. I went to an event the morning after a mass shooting and was visibly upset, not one person there talked about it or really thought about it. I asked someone about their thoughts and said “I don’t know why we have so many shootings here in the US” \nEducation is my next thing. The people I talk to know nothing about Canada and that’s not such a surprise but I know more about the US than most Americans I’ve talked to.\nI agree with a comment previously 26:29 that the north east is better educated and less dangerous.\nI feel bad for you as this is harsh but even on the news when Americans talk about being the greatest country etc on earth it feels arrogant. Maybe some years ago but now….. not so much.\nI’m afraid for your Democracy and I think so many people are just not listening 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @58frascatti I’ve been privileged to actually live and work for long periods of time in USA, Netherlands, and China…and in a variety of locations in each country. Until recently, I’d have chosen Canada without hesitation. Canada has been rocketing into an ideological cesspool rivalling China, but so has USA and the Netherlands. As for the future…if I were middle aged (as opposed to OLD!) I would go to southeast USA Fla or Tx. Not because they are ‘better ‘ right now, but I believe USA still has a chance to sort itself out but Canada is simply too screwed up and corrupt (morally, politically, socially, & financially) to recover at least in my lifetime. I was living in northern China (Harbin) when that idiot Trudeau became PM and hoped he had a chance to improve things in general. But it is clear he (or whoever is pulling his vapid strings) has been a disaster and his current opposition shows signs of being equally awful. I believe US citizens care far more for their constitution and freedoms and more aware of the perilous situation they’re in than Canadians, many of whom still believe we have a functioning health care system. All this is coming to you from a Canadian septuagenerian, highly educated by what was (decades ago) the best educational system in the Western Hemisphere. One who benefited from a wonderful health care system before it got farmed out to private corporations and became a haven for niche specialties while starving out the family physicians who were the front line for proactive family care. Can u tell I’m cranky yet? ?? Might as well laugh about it at this point. P.S. When the history of Canada is written I suspect an unabashed plagiarist will begin with the line, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.” 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @sheilakaiser2726 Listening to you talk about the health care,I’ll say our health care is not perfect but when I had cancer my treatment was amazing and costs me nothing. This treatment is available to everyone no matter your income level.I find it insane that people don’t care that not everyone can afford healthcare. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @sheilakaiser2726 My daughter moved to SC for work, she loves the weather and housing costs.Hates the politics and how little Americans know about Canada.I believe she’ll move home to Canada someday. 2 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @lucyalderman422 In Canada we can have a fairly good conversation about politics, religion, or money 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @thenobleandmightybeaver4411 My cousin, who is Canadian, had always wanted to move to the USA to practice law there. She went to law school at University of Michigan and passed the Bar in Florida. She practised law at a big firm for a few years until she paid off her student loans. She quit her job, moved back to Canada and works for a big university here. She doesn't even go back to visit people. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 8 months ago @jeffnic3116 Coming from where I come from, Canadian healthcare system sucks.\nI do not have dental and vision or medication coverage anymore.\nThen there are some medical procedures that are not covered as they do not consider it important, varies by province.\nSo take your pick. 1 zJycj8c73sQ

2 years, 8 months ago @jeffnic3116 @22:25, Don't raise a family in America??? \nI can take you to areas in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) which are really bad. A young person said to me he will not go to that area, if he had to, he would take a knife with him. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @_Meadows_ For the woman who got pregnant and came back to Canada, we get 1 year maternity leave here. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @SWEETMCKAY I traveled through New England this summer and it was a great trip. I didn’t meet any rude Americans but they definitely are closed off with each other in small group settings. It was so bizarre. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @jeffnic3116 @20:30. Toronto, Vancouver have a lot of crime. We don't hear about it. If there is a shooting, then you ear about it.\nI want to see police presence, keeps criminals at bay, causes people to behave.\nWhy did my car insurance in Toronto go up by 80% in one year I asked my insurer? Car theft has shot up is the reply. I did not see that in the media, my neighbour's are not aware of it either. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @jeffnic3116 @17:35. Trashy people, poorly socialized people. That is dependent on your upbringing.\nWhere I originally come from, People who were raised by both parents, living in tin shacks, are better socialized than some couples riding in their newish trucks.\nDid your parents bring you up to be respectful? Did your school teachers tell you to be respectful? Did the teacher send you to the headmaster if you were disrespectful, including cussing? If they did not teach you that, guess what! 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @learningisfun2108 Tyler, with all due respect, because I enjoy watching your channel, you seemed to equate “Upstate New York” with New York City in your example of Toronto not representing all of Canada. Upstate New York is that part of New York state that is everything BUT New York City and Long Island. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @peterf90 In Quebec if your working for the government you get one year paid maternity leave which you can share with your spouse so you can take say eight months go back to work and your spouse can take the other four. Pretty sweet if you ask me. I don’t think the states has anything like that. I’m not sure about the other provinces but I’m pretty sure they all have paid maternity leave. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @alankirby1353 If I had to choose between Canada and USA I would choose Canada because of similarities to countries I have lived in like the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. 4 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @rohitguptac I’m currently living in Canada and have lived in the USA. I can safety say the health care system sucks. I had to take my wife to the hospital because of an eye infection, we had to wait for 8 hours to be seen, the doctor was arrogant and sent us out in 2 mins. We had to travel to USA to get treated. Some can say you don’t have health care completely in Canada, the housing is completely expensive here, govt artificially limits supply of housing and drives up housing cost, the pay is less in Canada compared to USA. The Canadian PM is bigger joker compared to other world leaders. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @gordmain8688 I am a 79 year old Canadian lived here all my life broke my femer in 2020 just when covid started they put a steel rod in it then my next act i fractured it again in march of 2023 back on my feet now thank god for our healthcare only had to pay 26 dollars for a cane over both surgeries knock it all you want but it still the best ? 7 zJycj8c73sQ
2 years, 8 months ago @jeffnic3116 @14:30. There are treatments or procedures that Canadian Provincial health systems do not cover, then you have to pay full price. Example is growth lumps growing on your head under the hair. In Ontario it is not a life saving issue, so it is out of pocket. In British Columbia it is covered by their plan, just have to see how long the waiting list is. My wife went threw this. 4 zJycj8c73sQ
