1 year, 4 months ago @sherrieisenzopf9715 In Canada, we can take a year to 18 months off for maternity leave. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @patricklaw439 Lived in Canada for almost 40 years. Worked in USA for 5 years 25 years ago. I did make a lot more money in USA then, luckily, I was in my 20s and almost never seen a doctor in my 5 years in the USA. \nThank God I didn't get into any accident while there. \n\nIn general, I observed many people in the USA are not good neighbors. Simple observation, ex you drive and merge into a lane in a busy SF Bay Highway you need to fight hard to get into a lane. In BC, Canada, merging lanes is very orderly, each vehicle takes turn merging into a lane one entering from one lane and then another vehicle from another lane with respect and consideration. \nIn the USA, I think it is this brutal mentality translates into policy in health care and education, you are not responsible to help your community in any way and take while you can for yourself. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @elainesmith4454 Google 'highest cause of death of children in USA' to see why so many people bring up children's safety in your 'survey'. Thanks for the content... very interesting. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
1 year, 4 months ago @MathieuDuval Yea we aren't perfect in Canada, but damn it's such a good place to live compared to southern Canada / Northern Mexico 0 zJycj8c73sQ

1 year, 4 months ago @Correctly_Cory In other countries meeting an American is awesome! They are the best people to be friends with on vacation! And in video games 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @Correctly_Cory Never lived there but I drive through alot. California used to be alot nicer but even in its prime its a waistland 3rd world country compared to canada. Texas was horrible. Everyone is rude and stupid. I understand the lack of education but even the people in charge are very simple minded and it's very rare to meet a beautiful woman. Everyone is plastic or too skinny and gross to look at. It's nice to live next door and drive through on my way to the pow wows. I would never move there. Unless canada makes more then 2 genders! Then I will fight a war against canada amd move to usa where we can arrest perverts for going into girls rooms. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @michelegyselinck5400 Seeing a doctor in the emergency depends on how urgent your situation is. In 2023, I broke my left humerus--the bone in the upper arm. My sister took me to Sacré-Coeur Hospital, which is a teaching hospital. At triage the nurses thought my shoulder was dislocated so they sent me for X-rays even before registration, and at the most, I waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room before I was sent to an examination room. When the emergency specialist came in, I told him about pain between my shoulder blades and a feeling of oppression in my chest. So in addition to dealing with my broken arm, he prescribed blood tests that revealed I had had a small heart attack, and he kept me ovrnight. The next day an angiogram was performed and the cardiologist installed two stents in my heart artery, and I spent two days and two nights in the cardiology unit. I don't dare to imagine how much that would have cost me in your country, but also, many people go to the emergency for things like the flu because they don't have a regular doctor to go to, and of course, for stuff like that you are going to wait a long time. Unless there aren't many patients ahead of you. 2 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @michelegyselinck5400 Here in Québec I have two doctors, a GP and a psychiatrist and it doesn't cost me anything to see one. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @michelegyselinck5400 We have A LOT of social programs here, many that are native to Québec and that the NDP has been trying to copy at the federal level, such as daycare, insurance for medication, dental care, etc. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @barbaradalziel9421 I would.not want to live in the states. I have kidney disease and too many unstable people carrying guns. The guns is a huge issue for me 1 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @kayecastleman6353 Most people love the country they grew up in, no matter what. Our first home always holds a special place, and getting used to other norms is challenging. Both countries offer such diverse opportunities, I'm sure there's a place for everyone depending on your priorities. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @halltrain1162 To answer your question, No! 0 O0gJtVar7_E
1 year, 4 months ago @halltrain1162 Most of my professional career has been working for companies in the U.S.. I do find it frustrating to be surrounded by rudeness, ignorance, police sirens wailing at night.\nSometimes gunshots. But political ignorance is the big one. Had a later age man tell me that he was sure Canada was at war with the U.S. this was five years ago. He was adamant that I was wrong. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
1 year, 4 months ago @2FollowHim777 Consider: in many places you have or COULD have excellent climate, a REALLY BIG PLUS. Some places have beautiful or could be beautiful beach areas. I think your amazing grand canyon. To that, I think 'tourism' which should have all levels of financial possibility. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

1 year, 4 months ago @thevalkyri No dude, our regulations on food in Canada are FAR better than yours. You might have the highest quality health care for your rich people but there's a reason we fought hard to keep your milk out of here, and our meat is far better too, which is why you import it. Oh wait, you won't get our quality inspected beef anymore. Boohoo. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @jacquelineallen816 I’m in Nova Scotia Canada,u had a school shooting not long ago where a cop stood outside waiting for backup while kids were dying inside,it bothers to this day,why a cop didn’t do something, cops here travel in two’s ,but if a cop here stood outside and did nothing,I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes,I’m sure he’d go missing 0 O0gJtVar7_E

1 year, 4 months ago @kathythompson2393 My mother would go to RENO at least 2 times a year with her sister-in-law till the sister-in-law passed away. She wanted to go again and I said not happening mom,my mom was blind and old and I feared for her safety. In Canada we have crime however compared to to the USA we are safer here. 1 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @savmom1 I'm guessing your friend who gave birth for the cost of $3000 had no complications and good insurance, because from what I've read, the cost without insurance is between $30,000 and $50,000 which is insane to me. As for emerg wait times - I live in a small town in rural Alberta & have never had a problem. Recently had to go to emerg. Was triaged, saw Dr., had xrays & was given Rx. Was in and out in 30 minutes and of course I paid nothing out of pocket. I feel pretty lucky to live here. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @Northerndoll I was in the Missouri when i got sick. I drove home and was diagnosed with a brainstem tumour. 10 hr surgery, 4 surgerical teams, icu, wks hospitalization. Months of rehab and homecare. The school even arranged a cab to take my 5 yr old to school. I have seen bills for pts who didn't make it home and had to have surgery in the US before being repatriated back to the icu i worked. It was an eye opener to see what they were charged for a box of kleenex, a catheter, an iv bag etc. I would have lost everything if i had to have surgery in the US. \nMy sister is currently in hosp in the US, and she is getting good care. I drove down last time she was in, and i was impressed by the lovely large CCU bay, but, hey patients are paying for it. She had a fancy postop CABG pillow to splint her chest when she had to coughed. It had a cute surgical heart on it. I am sure it cost $$. In Canada, we give our pts a regular pillow, some iv morphine and tlc when it hurts when they cough, no fancy cartoon pillow, but no bill either lol. She's a senior on medicaid so she's not going into massive debt or dying in her home to avoid going to the hospital.\n \nI have been travelling to the states since 1976 as a young child. I love the states, I have a lot of family there. My dad lived there until his death. My great grandma immigrated and died in Montana. I have never had a negative experience there in over 49 yrs, other than the old lady backed into my parked suv in the hobby lobby lol parking lot l\n\nA big plus in Canada, is paid Maternity/ paternity leaves and also caregiver leave. Your mom has a stroke or child has cancer you can take time off work to care for them with partial pay and not worry about losing your job 1 zJycj8c73sQ

1 year, 4 months ago @RichardEvans-hm8bp Friend in Florida was in the hospital at the same time her husband was dying from brain cancer. She lived only to get a bill for over a million dollars ? 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @patrickmcmillan6444 After living in the US 30 yrs and raising 2 kids, I had to return to Canada for family reasons, and THE biggest difference is the comfort in knowing my health care is covered without having to pay 100's of dollars a month for that secure feeling. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @gerrymcdonald6194 America has made choices driven by selfish ideals that ignore the welfare (health and security) of the people. The welfare of the people is a government's first responsibility! By inspiring a 'get rich to survive' mentality America has spawned generations of children who put the $dollar above all else. Above love, family, parenting, faithfulness, and even truth. Fixing that seems impossible. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
1 year, 4 months ago @susannehulan1264 I have heard the average just to have baby in the US is 7-10K not including prenatal care, here in Canada it is zero…\nI have been pregnant 3 times, sadly lost my first 2, and I have had 2 complete knee replacements and several spinal cord surgeries…I would be dead for sure if I lived in the States, here I have paid nothing, I have insurance and that pays for my medication I need to take. I don’t know how people manage down there if you have health issues. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @michelcouture2010 In Canada, if your are a citizen, you have health coverage. If you have cancer, you will be treated. 0 zJycj8c73sQ

1 year, 4 months ago @carlop.7182 can't give an opinion about living in USA, because I never stayed for long (only for vacations or short visits), but as a visitor, I used to go once or twice a week in the 90's (I used to live 5 minutes drive from the border), as a visitor, I was always welcomed and made friends very easily. Of course, being only a visitor, I didn't have to experience day to day life or any major problems. About police presence, I guess it depends where you go in USA, I'm from Montreal & we also have a very visible police presence (guess it's common in bigger cities). Didn't have any problems with police in USA, like everywhere, if you comply, you'll have good relationship with policemen. If you try to play or disrespect them, you're in for some trouble--no different here in Canada. 0 zJycj8c73sQ
1 year, 4 months ago @liisamichelleharkness159 If you are diagnosed with a chronic illness like MS getting treated and monitored by a specialist and require a specist or special diagnostic tools like an MRI althought you may wait a little longer you are able to get one with out mortgaging your home !! 0 zJycj8c73sQ
