2 years, 2 months ago @CedroCron I grew up in Malton (borders Brampton) in the 1980's and it was all Western European and Canadian folks and it was great. Such a sense of community and everyone knew everyone. Us kids would stay out until the street lights came on and played in Parks. It was really safe. We moved away in 2006 because the area had gone such down hill by 1999 and the crime was horrible. Stolen cars, alcohol and drug abusing Punjabi folks and the domestic partner violence of the Indian men beating the crap out of their wives was insane. (I had a friend that was a Peel Region Police officer who ended up leaving because she couldn't take seeing it any longer). I have nothing against Immigration, because my dad was an immigrant, but I do have a problem with the amount of any one country we let in, and the types of people that we let in that contribute to crime and area degradation. It's so sad the slums that have become in Brampton and Malton since we left. I'm glad we got the heck out of there when we did. I feel sorry for all those that are stuck there still. Furthermore with such an influx of immigrants into one area it has driven the house prices and rent through the roof because the pace of immigration was nowhere near the housing starts, and cities think that everyone needs to be packed in like sardines and when you have that many people living in close proximity and you have such expensive living costs it's a disaster waiting to happen and it brings along with it tons of crime and drugs. The Trudeau government really messed up this country and the GTA Cities like Brampton are a shining example of that. It's sick that we pay as much as we do for government at all levels that are this idiotic. It's time we protested in the street and made the government at all levels fear the public again or it's never going to change. 2 w9A7dqrRSCc

The thing is though, until our government can find a way to solve the birth rate problem or labor shortage, mass immigration likely will continue. \n\nMy work contains data analysis of our job market and here is what we found: even with this level of immigration, our labor supply right now in Canada is still slightly below replacement level. In less than a decade, the majority of people in the workforce will retire. This creates two problems: 1) more retirees mean more pension needed from the government; 2) government needs tax money to pay for pensions, but the workforce is shrinking so there will be less tax payers. I don’t see a good solution to this unless some super AI saves the day. Of several bad solutions (gambling is more like it), immigration has a chance of turning things around. But either way, the next generation of workers will be the most overworked and heavily taxed in decades. 5 w9A7dqrRSCc

It is your country, you need them, you created legal pathways for them. They're here now and many if not all are working harder. 2 years, 2 months ago @zshn Multi-culturalism is a failed concept. That being said, Canada needs skilled immigration. The biggest flaw in Canadian immigration is extended family based immigration and uncapped asylum immigration. The bar for skilled immigration should be really high. Labor immigration should always be temporary and rotational. You bring in labor, train them, make them work, find the best amongst them, promote them, integrate them and let go of the non-performing ones. 1 w9A7dqrRSCc

Well 8 years ago when there was extreme skilled and unskilled labor shortage would you have had your kids working those jobs now? It's either the foreigners or your kids doing the dirty jobs. 2 years, 2 months ago @richibucto1 In January I flew into Toronto for my connecting flight to London but missed it. I was put up in a hotel in Brampton. First time there in 25 years. I didn’t feel like I was in Canada. I felt like a foreigner in my own country. during my 15 hours there I saw only one other non-Indian in the hotel. The restaurants, limousines to and from the airport, the drugstore and on the street - only Indians. Not one of them I spoke to had English mother tongue. One of the limo drivers came to Canada for education and told me once he got here he couldn’t get the program he signed up for and he was now in another program and as soon as he finishes this year he is leaving. He lived in Brampton and he told me he doesn’t feel safe there or in Toronto due to the crime. Interestingly he said a lot of the crime in the Indian community never gets reported to the police. 35 w9A7dqrRSCc
2 years, 2 months ago @Scionofgreyhaven Listen as a minority person who is proud of my heritage but grew up here with immigrant parents who were given refuge in Canada, I can understand immigration. But...its getting out of hand, most of them are from India, most of them have homes in India and often return there for long vacations, These are not refugees or a diverse spread of peoples coming here. I am not hateful in any way but sometimes you have to tell it like it is, A lot of these people are not adapting to the culture here, why? Because most of them are grown already and are used to their own customs, with an ever increasing population now living here they don't really feel the need to learn or adapt because there are less regular Canadians. When I was in school it was already pretty multi-cultural and diverse although yes in my area there are less asians and black people, we had a lot of European(Serbian/Romanian) in particular. Now I go to the store and it's like 80% brown/Indian people lol, even my neighbors, most have moved out and more indian families are moving in. My city is expanding into like a mini Toronto when we can't even handle it, people cant even find jobs, people need all this other stuff, Its just too many all at once, crime rates have gone up over the last few years, this doesn't help anyone, immigrants either. 23 w9A7dqrRSCc

2 years, 2 months ago @GowronSaves I'm an immigrant (came to Canada 40 yrs ago) but I also feel there's far too many immigrants here...this has caused rents/house prices to needlessly skyrocket and now we're unable to buy our own house or condo though we could've afforded it if not for opening the immigration floodgates. \n\nSince we missed the boat on buying our own property, we're now stuck renting from rotten landlords who make too much noise at night and have no respect for tenants and keep demanding higher rents...I'm hoping to rent a house in the future...or maybe have to move to another city or province that's more affordable...GTA has gone down the hole. Then, I noticed the music playing in the background was a little off for an Italian restaurant. Had a chance to see in the kitchen all east-Indians. I asked the young girl serving us about a change in ownership. Sure enough new owners. The loss of a great restaurant has been there for years. 14 w9A7dqrRSCc

The word was made up to attract immigration under false pretences. Canada is a multi ethnic country but should never allow pressure from outside to take away its best values - Canadian Values. When you enter someones home you follow their rules. The problem was the leader of this house was weak and couldn’t take care of the house. The younger ones are all driving decked out BMW's, Audi, Mercedes.. With the music blarring. The yard is never taken care of and they choose to make it uncomfortable so the neighbors start selling their homes. One of the 20 in the house will buy any house that goes on the market from the same street and it starts all over again. 20 more move in. They take over all the parking. Push out another neighbor. And again. They have a great plan. With 20 people in one home they all get to pitch in and end up mortgage free in 5 years. 0 w9A7dqrRSCc
