In the early 1990s I worked with a Canadian and he said it is easy to cross the border into the U.S. but getting back into Canada was a hassle even if you were a Canadian citizen, you had to show the proper documents, be searched if you looked even slightly suspicious (aka not white). Makes a lot of sense they were keeping undesirables out of Canada but weren't concerned about who was getting into the U.S. |
