2 years, 11 months ago @tgram8245 Never! I even stopped vacationing in the US. However, if Trump ends up in jail, I'll come and celebrate with you as you are beautiful people minus the Mega turds. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @jimbo27378 tabernak (usual spelling ) is equivalent to saying g-- damnit. tabernouche is more like gosh datn it 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @sheilaross792 Weather can be better in US places when it is winter in Canada. Generally Americans are nice people. Because warmer, they have bigger bugs. Ugg. Wouldnt send my kids to a school in the USA. Kind of nervous cuz so many people carry guns in USA. That freaks me out. I like being able to walk into ANY dr office or hospital in ANY place in Canada. Despite the good weather, too many down sides to the states. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @MWish999 Just looked it up on an American site and there were 51 school shootings in 2022 that resulted in injuries or deaths. In 2021, there were 2,571 child deaths due to firearms—a rate of 3.7 deaths per 100,000 children, which is an increase of 68% in the number of deaths since 2000 and 107% since a recent low of 2013. I'll stay here thanks. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @jeaniethompson5623 I have visited the US many, many, times and many different states during my life and always enjoyed going there. Even thought I’d probably retire there at least in the winter months. Now… there’s no way I would ever retire there! Even visiting scares me now that there’s so much gun violence, racism and political unrest. It makes me very sad because the countries such a mess now. ☹️ 40 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @dumbnhung I used to visit the U.S. every year or two - stuck to the major cities where I felt I wasn't surrounded by Christian fascists.... haven't been there since Covid. Did make a trip to NYC once, under the orange cheeto's rule and the oppression, sadness and depression you felt crossing the border was palpable 24 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @bradleycooper2532 Canada has a very high rate of gun ownership, and increasing gun violence. The guns involved are overwhelmingly from America however. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @pamelastoesz733 You know who generally can't work? The sick. Guess what you lose when you can't work? Health care. Make it make sense! 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @JimRobinson-colors US - the problem is when there are obvious problems you have a system that allows big money into politics, which allows for lobbying, which in my opinion is legal bribery. The idea that politicians had ( or have ) NRA ratings for supporting openly guns and not implementing the most logical of common sense gun control. \nHealthcare - in Canada, not having the healthcare tied to your employer actually makes Canadians a more free country. There are a lot of Canadians in the arts ( musicians, painters etc. ) that have the freedom to pursue any employment that wish, and not worry about the health benefits. \nIt kind of surprises me that you were surprised about school shootings. From what we see, that is not happening all in big cities. Sandy Hook was the worst. To think that Congress didn't do a thing after that, is reason enough not to want to move there.\nAnd Donald Trump has soured my wanting to ever even go there on holiday. Unbelievable that after two years, so many Americans believe anything he says, when he claims that he won in 2020 with not even a ounce of evidence to the contrary. There is not even a theory that would explain his claims. The mistrust of Americans with each other stems from people like Trump and Fox news. \nI think as you said - Healthcare alone is enough for almost any Canadian. I don't know anyone that owns a gun, I don't know of anyone who has gone bankrupt for being sick, and I never worry my granddaughter going to school and being shot. 2 O0gJtVar7_E

2 years, 11 months ago @karissapriest3649 In several states I will be sent to prison for simply existing. If you are a minority you are not safe. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ardendragoon Canuks think about gun violnce because of the media propaganda.\nThey never hear about the daily shootings and stabbing here.\nIn calgary, a dude stabbed ten people. We have woman being pushed on subway tracks. At least in the states you are allowed to defend yourself. \nCanuks are lambs waiting for the wolf. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ardendragoon A fellow needed care. The guvt refused to pay. He isnt the only one they do that to. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ardendragoon Wow. Here in canada the racist are in govt and hate white people. Worship depravity and support child mutilation and baby murder. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ardendragoon Canuks are dumb. Free deathcare.\nThe amount of taxes paid will more than pay for health insurance. Healthcare in Canada is a joke. It took 2 years for hip replacement, etc. And now instead of care, the govt offers death.\nThe canuk govt murdered over 10k people for their organs. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ME-jz2gz Sure us Canadians should consider a safe small town to keep our kids safe in school. Do you suggest Uvalde? 2 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @theclosetdweller I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. I’m glad you decided to take a look at this, and see our reactions to the questions. And I’m glad you didn’t take offence to the harsh or bitter answers. Sure Canada isn’t perfect, but it’s better in enough ways to keep me much preferring staying here. 2 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @celeritasc9207 Just because a school gun violence scenario has not yet occurred near you yet is not a reason not to be concerned. I am sure the parents of the children killed in Uvalde TX weren’t concerned at the beginning of that day they wouldn’t see them alive again. Or the parents of the children killed in the Christian school in Nashville. Uvalde has a population of only 16,000 while Nashville is close to 700,000. The thing is you have no idea where it’s going to happen until it does. And the scary thing is that you know it’s going to happen again, again, again, again……. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @artikulv731 Studies have shown that 4% of American kids die before 18. As a queer person, I’m gonna have to be hella desperate to move there.\n\nAlso, I’ve got a Norwegian citizenship, so if all goes to hell in Canada I can just go there. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @lindagraham3346 Having read all of this and agree, individual Americans that we meet when we do come down for a visit, are not ogres. They're all trying to live their best lives just as we are. It's just that we come from different origins. We came from England with an established law and order. America was mostly established as a refuge from prosecution and there in lies your craze over gun laws. American is also about making laws around religious beliefs of the majority and that steps on everyone's rights.....also dumps the belief that State and Religion are separate things. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @springtwigz Québécoise here. We Canadians seem to forget that there is as much racism in Canada as in the US. We just like to hide it behind a smile for some reason… I’ve lived in northern Michigan for 4years when I was in high school and college. I preferred the kids in the US over the kids in Switzerland by a lot! But I admit that shooting exercises in school were very weird. A lot of kids were dying in car crashes too… \nAlso, as someone with French as first language, that was pretty horrible catching up. I attended summer class with a bunch of kindergarten, and the teacher told in front of the whole class how me and my siblings were so bad at English even though we were teens. Well I’m sorry I can only write a college level paper in French but not in English yet! Thanks for belittling us in front of toddlers when we’re trying very hard to catch up before actual classes start! I was thrown into English Senior classes during second semester and did pretty well thank you very much! Went onto creative writing in college. Someone told me they though I was mentally retarded until I told them French was my first language… 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @daren9718 I would go and live in some of your dry warm climates in the winter. I did live in Colorado for four months and 87 and 88. It was a little town called steamboat Springs. The people were incredibly friendly. They were very kind. if I had the ability to come and go as I wished and not be bound to it, I would live on and off in the United States. There are whack job weirdos everywhere. We’ve got them here. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @JeanMauriceB1C4RD Never. I’d rather move to Groenland. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @Jojo1957 I lived in the US; Virginia for 13 years. For the most part the people are lovely... just like a lot of places. If you treat people with kindness; they usually return that kindness. At least that is my experience. Mind you, I came home in 2006. When I lived there the political climate was completely different. I would absolutely NOT move back to the US. When I came home to Canada; I was so grateful because I had to endure 2 years without Healthcare when I really needed it. I lived on pain pills at that time. I was in a wheelchair by 2008 and so grateful that I was home where my country took care of me when I was unable to work, or even walk. \n\nPolitics has changed so much since then. It was always kind of poler, but when Donald Trump entered the scene; it has become just awful. Again, I love the Americans for the most part, however there is so much racism, homophobia and hate displayed in the country right now. I pray every day that Donald Trump does not become president again. I fear for the United States. I love her as a sister to Canada; she is. I want her people safe... 43 O0gJtVar7_E

2 years, 11 months ago @lucdhertefelt5816 you may think you have good healthcare but to a european your system is a joke 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @2FollowHim777 Just one person here. One: Canada's going in a bad direction for some. Perhaps very bad. Latest is the opposition to the current leader of Canada (and the group) who is shown to be the same in many ways. But it's US better? Mexico might be, except for cartels.\nCanada is multicultural. Arrangements are for 'millions'(?) more.\nImmigrants are in 'tent CITIES' I one city.\nBut doesn't US have that, too?\nSo, not seeing reasons? Politically difficult in both. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @Lifewithweens I would move to the states in an instant Canadians are overtaxed and our healthcare is garbage 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @aaronmcfee506 A lot of Canadians see California as dirty and evil state 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @karensinclair4189 Never would I consider a move to the US. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @howlingbeast3x6 Seppoes have school shooting drills, in Canada we have fire drills. That tells you everything you need to know.\n\nAbout mass shootings, I looked up the stats a couple of years ago. In 2019, there was almost 400 mass shootings, 19 of which were in schools. In other words, there is a school shooting every six weeks and a mass shooting more than once a day in the USA. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @bigfatbaataed I don't understand why there are any educated women still living in the US, immigrate to some other country with an excellent social safety net... 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @danmoyer4650 In 2022, 34 students and adults in the U.S. died while more than 43,000 children were exposed to gunfire at school. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @jasonwithheld4735 Canadian here. Not a chance. No way. I may leave Canada, but I would never move to US. Ever. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @jonatamaniuk I mean the reasons listed are already reason enough, but additional reasons:\n\n- our labour laws tend to be superior to the majority of states (seriously, Wisconsin has no workers rights, maternity leave is barely a thing in most states let alone parental leave)\n-social security net in the event of losing a job (during the start of the pandemic, even though we did have to suddenly change the system, the fact that we already had a safety net to begin with was a huge relief to many)\n- the racism, while still obviously present, is significantly lower (experienced more racism in Edmonton than I do in a tiny town in rural Quebec). This before even beginning to consider how the police forces in the USA would be more likely to target someone like me whether I am guilty or not (have personally had nothing but good experiences with the police anywhere I have lived personally).\n\nThe only things that have ever tempted me in particular have been the lower housing costs, but… that’s clearly only the immediate monetary cost, and for me has never even come close to making up for the other significantly more important things that I would have to deal with / be concerned over. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @donstinn4070 I would consider moving to only Florida or puertperiod.\nThe fact that you said Hollywood and then disneyland made me reconsider 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @lisamoanaSoprano I am from Canada, and a teacher in NC. The discussions of fears of school shootings does happen among students. Some of them are afraid it will happen. We have shooter drills. Some students do get a little scared because this happens. Maybe you don't get into these discussions, but they do happen down here. 8 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @grumpyolesilverback7211 Absolutely I would move to the US. Canada is a communist socialist shithole now.\nJust so you know:\nCanadian healthcare is free at its most basic. As such, wait times are exorbitant.\nThere is a two tier system. Insurance is needed and most of us do pay more for better.\nPersonal freedoms are being eroded as I write this.\nNot rights to self defence.\nI can go on. My family is already looking into moving south. Canada is a failed experiment. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @jozwaters1388 1. You have mass shooting EVERY F'ING DAY! EVERY DAY!!!!! \n2. The fact you just rushed past the abortion issue is concerning considering 50% of the pop is women, it is a vital area to consider if you care at all about women and their rights and right to choose. \n3. Healthcare in general.\n4. As a gay married man of 20 years your republicans can get bent. \n5. Your political corruption is INSANE and VERY evident. I had an american friend tell me that Trump did a good job cause N Korea and Russia didn't bomb the US while he was in office. \n6. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @JayceeWedmak Guns and gun laws in Canada are awesome. Conceal or open carry is a bizarre concept. Canada has an excellent school/curriculum system. Canada's political system is better. Canada's policing system is better. Canada's multiculturalism is fun. Canada's environment is beautiful. Canada's lower population, while not great for some reasons is great for other reasons. I've been through 15 states and everyone was very nice. Staying Canadian thanks very much. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @thecan80an33 The fact that you could walk into a Burger King and get shot by some gun loving nut job is pretty high on my list of HOLY HELL FUCK NO WILL I MOVE TO THE USA. I mean come on... daily school shootings? Who cares if your kid gets blown away... as long as you get to worship your 2nd Amendment, right? Get your shit in order before even THINKING about having people move there. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @jimkemp308 I think because you have 10 times more people you have 10 times more problems. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @RobGoldstein That person complaining about BatShit Crazy religious political people probably was in that backwater state of Floriduh. Where most Canadians get their American experience. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @oldwoman5942 We have McDonalds and Starbucks here in Canada, even in small towns PLUS we have Tim Hortons everywhere! I have lived in both countries and much prefer Canada. The very idea of another Trump presidency makes me literally ill. In Alberta our healthcare is free, no monthly payment and there is affordable drug coverage both through private and provincial government provided. The Canadian education system is far superior. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @donsims2979 Tryed Arizona, to hot, moved back to Vancouver Island in Canada. 1 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @charlesvanderhoog7056 Health care in the USA is a racket, and people are taught by Republicans that it is folly to care for other people, they don't, Trump doesn't, why would you? In European Union, health care insurance premiums are about US$ 150 per person and it covers everything while our health care is the same or better than in the USA, except for the UK where health care has caved in thanks to Brexit where they sent 93.000 nurses, doctors, dentists, and paramedics packing because they were not born on English soil. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @charlesvanderhoog7056 Note that it is mainly Americans who don't understand why people don't want to go to the USA and who are totally baffled when they discover American expats in Europe do not want to return. Americans do not realize they have been subject to a treacherous propaganda campaign since the re-election campaign of Ronald Reagan. Also note that Tyler Bucket does not mention one single thing that is interesting, he talks about McDonalds and Starbucks and Disney as plus points while others see McDonalds as one of the worst things the USA has exported. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ChantalRivest-u2q ???????????????? 0 O0gJtVar7_E
2 years, 11 months ago @ys1876 Absolutely NO! Never! Besides all of the gun violence & the shitty health care, after Trump became president and the behavior witnessed during (and after) his presidency, along with the behavior of some republicans, really surprised me and totally turned me off. There’s no professional, no mental competence. Just appalling how politicians act. We all know they lie etc but trump really made the US look stupid. I was embarrassed listening and watching how some acted, and do still act. Nobody acted so trashy before Trump. And I’m not into politics. I’m just really surprised by the attitudes and lack of professionalism. Oh, and the US isn’t as friendly as we are. 0 O0gJtVar7_E
