Sure this was necessary, but don't forget Trudeau has been putting tariffs on Canadians for a while with carbon tax and was planning to quadruple it. Trump might not be the hero for America, Trudeau is for sure the villain of Canada.
Critiques Trudeau's domestic policies (carbon tax) while comparing him unfavorably to Trump, framing Trudeau as Canada's primary problem.

Criticizes Canadian government policies and trade decisions, with comparative reference to China and domestic agricultural capacity.

Trump is still telling the same lies. He rambles on and on and speaks nonsensical words. He is friends with Putin , he wants to make the USA his personal monopoly game. He threatens republican congressmen with harm and even death so he can control them. He is mentally unstable and ready to be committed in a mental facility. What will it take to get our congressmen to stand up for the good hardworking people of the USA instead of for a man who is hell bent on making the usa his oersonsl dictatorship.
Detailed criticism of Trump's leadership, mental fitness, and authoritarian tendencies, with calls for congressional accountability.

Americans need to understand: this is an *existential* threat to Canada. We cannot forget this, even if the tariffs go away tomorrow. We now *have* to diversify away from the US to the extent possible. This is a permanent change.
Critiques US tariff policy as an existential threat and calls for Canada to strategically diversify away from US dependence.

Trump is a G , Trump wants a even playing field with all countries ripping off America due to them taking advantage of a corrupt , incompetent Biden administration. Trudeau doesn't practice what he preaches. Its alright when they do it, its a problem when Trump does it.

As an American. I don't think it was a good thing to bully other countries, especially allies and neighbors. There are other diplomatic ways to do things. I am not left or right, but I felt like Obama and Clinton had better ways with international relationships. I know our leader are trying to do their best for us Americans, and well we have been helping other countries for decades. Maybe, it is time that other countries start paying us back. I don't know why every move has to be on the media though? Especially the bullying with Zelensky? They could have talked over it without showing it to the whole world. What do yo guys think? Was that even necessary?
Commenter critiques diplomatic approach and bullying tactics while seeking others' opinions on whether public confrontation was necessary.

Trump will not stop at this! He already said that he wanted to replace IRS with ERS (External Revenue Service). Trump wants to replace Income Tax with Tarrifs !!\nYes! MAGA will laugh and say No More Tax for all Americans!\nThey don't know that America raised a total income tax of 3 Trillion Dollars annually. But America also spend 3 Trillion dollars on imports! So to replace Income Tax with Tariffs, America needs to apply 100% tariffs on ALL Imports from All countries around the world!\nSo prices on imported goods will be at least double in America! That will make people buy less. Imports will drop! So even with 100% blanket tariffs it will not raise 3 Trillion dollars for Trump!\nWhat's more? As America tries to make more things in America to avoid tariffs, tariffs will dry up and where does Trump get 3 Trillion dollars? ?
Detailed analysis of proposed tax and tariff policy changes, critiquing the feasibility and economic logic of the proposal.

With tariffs being an import tax set up to deter local business from buying outside the country, then why put tariffs on american goods save for the 25% that goes directly to the Canadian government ? When we could keep prices down for our businesses and imports, it just seens to bump prices up for the microcosm of businesses and puts money in the hands of our federal government, but directly takes money out of contractors, businesses and so on....\nIf there are no contracts for instance with energy flowing to NY, why not bump the price 5% or 10 % ....
Questions the logic of tariff policy, arguing it raises prices for businesses and benefits only government revenue.

Thanks for making it clear what you did right but not making it clear on what the US administration wanted from you that you said no to that caused the tariff implementation. It's possible you miss 50% of your illegal border crossings into the u.s. since so much of your border isn't secured. The 1900% increase in illegal crossing in the past few years doesn't look very good. It's dumb to assume you did everything right and then the u.s. just randomly decided they'd continue with the tariffs for fun. Be more honest and say where you put your foot down so the American public can better understand what is going on.
Critiques Canadian border security with unverified claims about illegal crossing statistics and suggests Canada is being dishonest about negotiations.

I am Canadian and I am glad Trudeau is actually hard on fentanyl. Surprise. If so, I would like to know if Trudeau, and his successor whoever that may be, and the Liberals of course, will be just as hard if not harder on fentanyl dealers, users, and criminals. Start by talking to British Columbia, currently ruled by the New Democratic Party (NDP), and getting them to change their soft on drugs and crimes approaches. I await to be impressed by Trudeau, his successor, and the Liberals.
Canadian commenter critiques drug policy approach, calling for harder stances on fentanyl dealers and criticizing BC's soft-on-crime policies.

So refreshing listening to a head of state that sounds, speaks and acts like an adult and puts the interest of his country first. Canada ?? do what you have to. The idiot is stubborn and incorrigible and his cult members are no different. The indoctrination runs deep. Maybe lost jobs, no power/fuel, hunger pains, sticker shocker and depleted 401k accounts will register. Too bad more of us did not vote for common sense.\n\nOnly an idiot starts a war with “friends” and bend over for an enemy who’s using him as a tool to only enlarge his empire and weaken America. The executive part of his brain ? is severely compromised. \n\nGod help us all.
Critiques Trump's economic understanding, trade policy decisions, and lack of coherent strategy while making moral judgments about leadership competence and national interest.

I thought Canadians generally are not super-nationalistic like the Americans, and Trudeau is not exactly very popular too. But somehow the current US government external policy managed to change both of that. And if the course is not changed ASAP, it will take generations to recover the relationship.
Analyzes how US external policy has shifted Canadian national sentiment and warns of long-term diplomatic damage.
