In this particular case, the smuggler was not Punjabi but a Hindu who was speaking Hindi. Incidents like this increase the frustration among some Punjabis and contribute to the demand for greater autonomy or a separate homeland. As a Canadian, I may not have agreed with everything Trudeau has done in the past 9 years. However he’s handled this American threat with class and dignity and I’m proud of our response. American/Canadian relations will never be the same. After all of this is over, there is a lot of apologies and healing that has to happen before we can even start thinking about rebuilding this relationship.
