As a brown person who migrated to Ireland, i can tell you i haven't met, spoken to or hung out with any of the people from my birth country in years. Why? Because, my Irish school mates, my Irish neighbours & Irish colleagues have never made me feel insecure about my color or origins. However in the last five years, some communities like the pakistanis, brazilians & nigerians started creating their ghettos despite the fact that the Irish did not discriminate. They "rule" their ghettos as if they're sovereign territories and do not interact with the Irish, who loves a good banter & socializing. Now the Irish are feeling insecure & one can feel, hear & see the change in attitudes towards immigrants. I fear that in the future i may face the consequences of some other people's decision to stand out instead of mixing. It is quite sad actually!

Personally as an Indian, I really feel bad about it. Unfortunately, we DO go to other countries for a chance at better life and dignity, but a lot us Indians then start to feel privileged and entitled and do not adapt to the culture of the country they are in, and force their own cultures and individual beliefs. This sucks, especially as a young guy who dreams of living in other countries, while respecting their cultures and planning to adapt to them. Even in India too, we don't really pay much taxes since we know its gonna go into corruption anyway, so the Immigrant residents in Brampton may have carried forward that practice as their habit. Finish your high school, have a road map, start slow, join a small firm in your area of interest, study hard, apply what you learned. As soon as you gain confidence, change jobs, get promotions.
