Hate to say it, but bike guy is right. I work in a (genuinely) diverse area and African men are by far the worst customers. Incredibly condescending, interrupt me constantly, and if they have a wife/girlfriend with them, they're constantly berating her. I've found Indians are cheap but generally polite, the biggest problem is that there's just too damn many of them and they don't assimilate, so you become a stranger in your own hometown when they move in. I remember looking for a place to get takeout around my boyfriend's house and it was literally 90% Indian food, 10% pizza with butter chicken and tandoori toppings.

Whats not fair is that they came here for a better life and now our quality of life has suffered. I actually worked at Tim Hortons(I'm a white guy), and there were literally so many Indians that they'd order each other around in Hindi. They'd only speak English to me and the customers. I had a shift coordinator in fact who would reflexively give me orders in Hindi, and would get a little ticked off and repeat it in Hindi, and then when it clicked that I'm the only non-Hindi speaker there, he'd give 1 word orders like "Garbage" or "Sinks". The owner of the Tim Hortons also said that if I was a little slow or needed extra training, they wouldn't fire me because they don't like to keep rotating workers around, and instead would rather just retrain them. I was a tad bit slow(only because I was precise and not violating health and safety standards), and they fired me in like 10 seconds. Like my second monthly review, I was fired. I have a feeling it largely had to do with the fact that I was not Indian and didn't speak Hindi, so therefore the shift coordinators had less tolerance for me.

I've had both good and bad experiences with Indians, I worked with one guy at the local supermarket, he literally had the entire department hating on him, he was disrespectful, constantly tried to avoid doing his job, the rest of my department had to rally together to tell management to get rid of him, on the other hand, I've also worked with Indians that were the complete opposite, very respectful, kind and hard working. One guy lived in one city, went to school (College/University) in another and worked in my small city, it blew my mind at how busy his life was. They're not all bad but it does feel a little odd to see so many in BC
