I am concerned about the comments here! Right now we need to welcome people from the US escaping ICE! We need to be humane! I agree that we need to be discerning to risky people, and there needs to be limits. But this is an emergency situation! We need to help good people who are at risk and just wanting a better life! How would you like to be in their shoes?? It would be scary! Lets be the safe place to land for these good people!! Even though I am tenth generation Canadian, we are all immigrants except for the First Nations People.

Excellent video my friend! I am first Nations. Aboriginal. My family has been in Canada for approximately 500 to 700 generations give or take. Which is about 5000 or 10,000 years. I am Inuit. I believe that it will get to a point where Canadians will not be passive anymore. There is going to be a breaking point and I don't know when that will be. But I do believe Canadians are strong enough and they will not allow it to get to a certain point after that breaking point. I can already see the tensions happening. I can already see the uneasiness of Canadians and it's bound to hit a boiling point. Just in the past 10 years I have watched my country morph into something that's almost unrecognizable.

. ****Globalism vs Nationalism**** A population of 800,000, is the size of Winnipeg. Not English speaking? Not French speaking? How can an immigration policy this far out of balance, represent Canadian values?

The questioner is just proving her own questions? What is non-compliance as a student? Not going to the college? How many colleges shut down their courses within the said period? Do you expect students to be firever students? What if they get work permit while still being student? This is very possible for the IT engineers from India, they are student here but get a job in USA or any other country and they leave. Where are the statistics of students who got married to Canadian nationals and decided to stop studying because of family expenses? It will be easy to track down the fees transfer and return of these said 8% non-compliant students. Did they get their money back? If not, then why didn't colleges paid the remaining fees back and report that non-obligatory to the study visa rules? Or, was the past govt quite about this because Canada needed cheap labor and money in other colleges accounts?

The issue is not an influx of any particular culture, nationality, or race. The issue is a lack of prosecution for immigration infractions. If you are in Canada legally, you have every right to be made to feel as welcome as any other Canadian. If you have overstayed a visa, or do not have legal cause to be here, deportation on your own dollar.

Why though? Why change a system that was working? Post-nationalism? Century Initiative? Erase Canadian identity?

as a Canadian our immigration system used to be the gold standard now its a warring to other nations what not to do.

I see this video as an Indian living happily in India. My neighbourhood is as clean as any Western nation's, if not better. The civic sense is improving (still a way to go). I hope Canadians get to live the way they want.

French joined hands with Americans to fight against English C. Lived together for 300 years D. All of the above 5. Got a basic question about suffrage movement 6. What are prairie provinces? Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba (SAM) 7. I got a question about provinces from west to east on Canada map. Please look and memorize the provinces locations. 8. Got a question about Peace Arch in Blaine 9. Question about Peace Tower like what was built after first world War. 10. Question about Aboriginals. Ans: First Nations, Metis and Inuits 11. Branches of Parliament Ans: Sovereign, House of commons and Senate 12. Courts do: Ans: Settle disputes These all what I remember. I am not sure which ones I got wrong. Might be in the first 5 I posted here. Test is not difficult but it is better to go through this video multiple times and do some other mock tests as well, in my opinion. I came here 25 years ago from India. While growing up, I would go to the terrace of my home and turn the antenna to get Cbc at night. I watched Air Farce One, the green show, NFB and Cbc and was always fascinated with Canada. I knew then when I was 20 that I will make Canada home. I wrote my IELTS ENGLISH test, studied here with good grades. And I did. I have an amazing career and young kids. And I have loved everyday of it. I have watched rerun of trailer park boys about 10 or so times already, watched Corner gas, watch hockey, I have embraced the weather, the people and the values this nation stands for. I have travelled coast to coast and to the great north. Heck I have been to more places in Canada with my job than other Canadians who are born and raised here. Now all I see there these ignorant, entitled effs thinking they can come and change the way of life. Like how Don Cherry said, they want the milk and honey but won't respect the values. I am effing done with this immigration and the government. Steven Harper was the prime minister when I got my citizenship and it was the proudest moment of my life. I really hope Canadians wake up. I know exactly why the racism has gone up and I don't blame the Canadians at all. These clowns bought it on to themselves. I just had enough and wish things would back to how it was 20 or so years ago.

Just wanna say, cause I don't think its said enough, I commend the journalistic integrity that you started out with and maintain throughout your work. Thank you for your commitment to hearing many sides of the story. My brother is a journalist in NYC and he also amplifies voices that are so often drowned out by louder, flashier ones. As a Canadian, who was born in South Africa, but have grown up in BC since elementary school, I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity this country has given my family. We all work hard to build on the values shared in this nation. I love learning about aspects of Canada that I am unfamiliar with, but ultimately help shape its identity. 🙏

Canadian gov has opened much of the international students for Indians, if only they did a fair ratio between other nationalities that issues now would have been controlled, if I am not mistaken, they let 250k per yr for India, rest of the international students are just 25k per yr each coming from different countries.

I arrived in Canada 25 years ago. Yes, I am an immigrant — but I embraced this country, learned its language, and built my life here. Canadians welcomed me with open arms, and I carry deep respect and gratitude for that generosity. But Canada today is not the Canada of 25, or even 15, years ago. Our nation has changed profoundly. And because I love this country, I believe we must not be afraid to speak up, to protect the values and culture that make Canada the home we cherish.

I am supportive of immigration, but I believe there should be a cap of no more than 1-2.5% annually. A significant number of migrants moving to Canada from the same region or country could cause issues, as this can lead to the formation of "mini-bubble" societies within Canada. These groups may sometimes become the dominant demographic and undermine the existing communities that have contributed to building Canada for decades. We cannot expect new immigrants to seamlessly merge into Canadian society. This is a major oversight by Canada’s Immigration Department. Digital applications from foreign nations may play a role in this phenomenon. There should also be regulations concerning how many new immigrants can be brought in by family members. For instance, one new citizen can legally bring both of their parents and their spouse, which is fair. However, there have been cases where this process is repeated multiple times within ten years, leading to a 1:15 ratio, where one person can bring in six to eight relatives. If there is a labor shortage in essential fields, Canada can offer long-term residency to those who continue to work in those sectors, such as caretakers. However, the pathway to citizenship could be lengthened or require a higher standard. For instance, the requirements could extend from X years of living in Canada to X+5 years, as well as passing a basic Canadian citizenship test, either written or verbal. While an increase of five years may seem unfair or lengthy, it is essential. A newborn child from a Canadian family requires 18 years to gain voting rights in elections, whereas new immigrants—especially those who come for study for four to six years—can potentially gain both citizenship and voting rights sooner if they meet the previous administration's standard. Children under the age of 18 can gain citizenship in as little as X-4 years, regardless of their full integration into Canadian society. This loophole is sometimes abused and provides preferential treatment that favors this process over existing Canadian. In my opinion, it would be fairer to calculate the duration of "living in Canada" based on the number of years they have paid "income taxes" in Canada. This is important because many individuals with multiple passports pay taxes elsewhere while benefiting from Canadian healthcare and other services. The investment in home buying as a pathway to citizenship has contributed to the housing crisis, resulting in numerous empty homes in various regions. While it may offer short-term economic benefits that some politicians favor, it is detrimental to Canada as a whole. If buying a house is the only requirement for citizenship, wouldn't a large portion of the global population be eligible for U.S. citizenship just by investing in U.S. businesses or stocks? This perspective may seem illogical when looking at it from outside the box. Apologies for being a bit wordy; I had much more to say. Nonetheless, I also support temporary residency for up to 6-9 months for those who have been evacuated due to war, natural disasters, or similar circumstances. Special exceptions can be granted for families with members working in critical fields that merit such considerations (high-end industry).
